Detroit--which would you choose?

Cliff Bell's has terrific food and a very cool atmosphere. You are in a gorgeous old jazz joint with three wooden barrel ceilings. The menu is very interesting, the drinks are reasonable and they can make anything you desire. Make a reservation on the weekends for sure, the tables fill up.

Roast is wonderful, everything is so great we have been there like six times and each time the food is fantastic and the service good. The 24 Grille is also very good, been there twice and had really tasty food and very nice service.

Anybody have any reviews for this edition of Detroit Restaurant Week?

We went to the 24 Grille in the Bok-Cadillac for Restaurant week and it was phenomenal.
The filet they offered was absolutely wo fantastic mashed potatoes and asparagus. The frenched pork chop with apples was a delight. Everything tasted so good. The little appetizer of the day was stone crab on Tuesday and it was very tasty. We did not leave a scrap of food. Since it was Tuesday wines were half off also, bonus! The house made ice creams, maple nut and bourban vanilla that day were great.
It's a really nice room and the service was quite good. We will definately go back.

We also went to Andiamo Riverfront on the opening night, they were quite busy. We did not eat off of the restaurant week menu. Our food was pretty good, the risotto ball appetizer and the hungarian peppers and sausage were actually a lot better then the veal and the ravioli. The server also kept pushing for add ons continually which was kind of annoying.
Restaurant week is the best.

Detroit: Michael Symon's "Roast" opening Oct 15th

can't wait to go back and try the beef cheek pierogi and the marrow. The lamb was fabulous and the steak out of this world. We had a German kid with us and he almost cried it was so good. Never see a steak like that in Germany.

Finn & Porter, Doubletree Hotel, Detroit

Had the sushi at the Round Bar and it was fantastic, didn't think it that pricey. But the drinks seemed way expensive. It is a lovely hotel though. The bar menu looked good, will give it a try soon.

L.A. hound seeking a Detroit-area Coney-dog from his childhood

Definately you are remembering Lafayette and American. Go for the Lafayette! Still like it was back then. While your here pop into Melvindale and check out Sabina's Polish restaurant on Oakwood. Melvindale Coney Island has fantastic breakfast, the cook can really make an egg!

Detroit Fish Market

Have not but I read a pretty god review of it the other day in a paper, forget which one. It spounds great. May give it a try this weekend

Craving for pasties in metro Detroit

The Pasty shop is take out only I think. You can have real UP pasties delivered by going to www.pasty.com, they are the real deal packed by senior citizens just for you.

Jacos Northern Exposure Cafe 14918 Telegraph Flat Rock.. We went and they were pretty darn tasty.

Craving for pasties in metro Detroit

You could go to Pasty.com and order them from a place in the UP. They are made and packed by senior citizens and are the real deal. The Pasty Shop in Southgate is only take out if I remember corrctly and there is another place down Telegraph in like Flat Rock that has decent pasties. If I remember the name I will post it.

Iridescence in Detroit Overrated

The view is great but this place is not worth the 4 diamonds AAA gives it if you ask me. The Coach Insignia, Seldome Blues, Opus One, Rattlesnake are all better. The service was nowhere the level of a 4 diamond or of the other places I mentioned. My food was lovely, our sons was so so, had a very salty sauce for the steak. My husbands was a $39 bowl of overcooked lobster and scallops. For that we got a free dessert (1) and the floor manager who was told about it never came near our table. He was to busy flirting with the table of young chicks. He never went to ANY tables. The women behind us after hearing my husband tell the waitress about his dish later told of the same over cooked food in hers as well. It's a fancy joint the casino has to have for the high rollers to use their comps. I guess if I got it for free I wouldn't care to much. Anyone else been there?

Easter Brunch in Detroit

If you are feeling flush with money the Grill at the Ritz Carelton is fantastic.

Sushi in Detroit?

Tom's Oyster Bar Downtown has really good sushi, Black Pine Tree in Southgate is very good.

Sabina's - Melvindale, MI (Detroit)

We are so glad that she opened up her fabulous little place here in Melvindale. The pork chops are yummy!

Middle Eastern in Dearborn Area

Cedarland and Al Ameer on Warren are both very good.

Good eats near the Detroit Opera House

Small plates is right across the street and very good, but do get reservations. There is the Detroit Brewing Company right near Small Plates. In the Gem Theater which is very close is the Century. Down a couple blocks on Woodward is the Woodward. There is also Chelio's place kitty corner from the Opera House. Da Edourdo Foxtown Grill is like a block and a half and has great food.

Allergic reaction to alcohol

Hi,
Last night I has a few sips of vodka and then my nose starting running, I continued to eat and drink. Then my eyes felt itchy, my scalp felt itchy as well as my chest. By the time I had finished my food and two vodkas and left the restaurant my right eye was almost swollen shut and the left a bit swollen. The bridge of my nose was also a bit swollen. Please has any one else has this happen? Scared the crap out of me. I don't think it was the food because it started while we were eating guacamole and salsa which I have had a million times. I am 52 and all I need is to have to give up drinks!
