B & B vs. Sage for a solo bar dinner?

I had a wonderful dinner at a table at Sage when I dined solo in March. It was my second favorite dinner after Le Cirque. If you like foie gras, you must order the foie gras brulee; it was one of my most favorite foie gras preps.

While I haven't dined at Dovetail, my two dinners at Picholine were excellent. I definitely need to schedule another dinner at Picholine.

There are many mid-price casual restaurants in the various casinos that I'm sure will be able to accommodate you at lunch without a reservation or that don't even take reservations.

You should call the restaurant to see whether you need a reservation for lunch. This way you avoid being disappointed or annoyed that you walked/cabbed it to a restaurant that won't/can't accommodate you.

If you and your girlfriend come to NYC, I think you'd love Momofuku Ko (either the 2 hour 10 course dinner for $125 or the 3 hour 16 course lunch for $175) and the extended tasting menu (20 courses) at Per Se (approx. $500) that lasted 5 1/2 hours. Have a great time!

Robuchon's La Sphere is not what you've described. It is a hard sugar shell that has a cold lemon/raspberry mousse inside with pop rocks. No hot liquid to melt the shell; you need your spoon the crack the shell. Very unique.

Dinner (before tax and tip) was about $350--sorry, I can't remember since I charged it to my room at the Bellagio.

I highly recommend La Sphere de Sucre for dessert from the a la carte menu--it was one of the best desserts ever from any restaurant!

I've dined 3 times at Robuchon, but have never had the deugstation. I've always gone with the 6 course tasting with substitutions from the a la carte menu and the supplementary charges from the tasting menu. I like being able to select my dishes, and many of the dishes of the degustation didn't "wow" me. My most recent dinner at Robuchon had 2 of the supplementary charges. I was not happy with the beef dish--very chewy/gristly. Much preferred the duck from my 2011 dinner. I think when I return to Robuchon, I'll opt for the 4 course tasting menu. I have a very "healthy" appetite--no problem getting through 16 courses at Momofuku Ko in NYC, but after 6 courses at Robuchon, I was too full to enjoy much on the "bon-bon" trolley. My 6 course dinners at Robuchon take a good 3 hours, and I was dining solo.

I would suggest that you call the restaurant to be certain. I can't imagine why they wouldn't be able to have an extended tasting vegetable menu since they're one of the few restaurants that offers the vegetable menu. They were very accommodating to me for my food preferences.

It's funny: when uhockey told me that he was able to get an 11:30 lunch reservation, I was thinking: "who wants to eat lunch that early?", but since the lunch ended a few minutes before the first people were to be seated for dinner, it was perfectly timed. Now that I know how long the extended tasting menu is, I prefer the lunch version since I think I'd be half asleep by the time the dinner would be done. Have a great time!

The macarons and the butter-croissant cake would be my choice too. Sorry, I should have remembered that you wouldn't forget details like the dessert trolley.

Great report! Happy Birthday and Anniversary! Dining at Per Se is a wonderful way to celebrate special events. Glad you enjoyed yourselves. BTW, agree about Per Se being very accommodating about food preferences. I had a wonderful extended tasting menu and had called prior to arrival that I don't like olives, rabbit or offfal (other than foie gras); when I was seated, my captain made it a point to mention that they had already noted my preferences for the menu.

I beleve Per Se permits the extended menu reservation for lunch and dinner. I did the lunch extended menu at the end of February, and it took over 5 1/2 hours. Fantastic experience!

Great report! I think the next time I go to The NoMad I'll order the crab tagliatelle and the lobster. Question: was there any difficulty in removing the lobster in the shell or was it already removed, but placed back in the shell for plating? Do you recall the desserts on the trolley?

Yes, I did the menu elegance at Guy Savoy. I've read the report on Eater about the new menu. I look forward to your report since I usually travel to LV annually, and may be tempted to revisit Guy Savoy if I read enough great things about it. Have a wonderful time!

Unfortunately, Guy Savoy was the weakest of my dinners in LV last year. Service was excellent, but I found both the food and decor very drab. I had the most expensive tasting menu. Serious kicking myself.

A sample menu is listed on the Bouley website. There may be changes to the actual menu, but the sample menu will give the OP a good idea of the type of cuisine. Just like EMP's sample menu on its website gives the reader an idea of the main ingredients in its cuisine.

Bouley has long been one of my most favorite restaurants anywhere! Food is delicious, room is gorgeous and service is very attentive. Some of my favorite dishes are the foie gras; the duck--one of the best duck dishes anywhere; the uni; the porcini flan; the lobster; and the chocolate souffle.

Yes, Petrossian is in a very busy spot right across from the hotel registration. But once you're seated and if one of the piano players is playing, you don't notice or hear much noise. You can also request to be seated inside.

Thanks for the info, but as long as the food and service are excellent, I'm not sure I mind. Funny that Joel Robuchon doesn't own/partially own his 2 restaurants at the MGM Grand.

Sorry, but as a single woman, I am not comfortable taking the subway after 10 p.m. Let's end this debate as I previously stated that traveling via the subway from Brooklyn Fare late at night from Brooklyn is inconvenient for me.
