Someplace interesting with Tasting Menu

My friend and I are in NYC for one night and one night only and we are looking for someplace interesting with a great/cool tasting menu. On past trips we have done WD50 and Marc Forgione and really liked them. I am hoping I can get a reservation for Ko, but I need some good back up plans if this doesn't happen. Price is not really an issue. We want to stick to Manhattan, but would travel off the island if the option was really compelling.

Good Foodie Restaurant near the Airport

I am staying at the Hyatt at DFW airport for two nights and was wondering if there a recommended eatery that a foodie like me could easily visit with a reasonable cab ride (less than $50). It doesn't necessarily need to be expensive, just unique. I also would like a tip on good authentic Mexican especially tamales. I am from Michigan and the mexican food sucks. I am looking for authentic mexican, not tex-mex. Unfortunately I am not that familiar with the Dallas area. Thanks in advance.

Mid week brunch and other suggestions.

What do you mean? Like you crack open a bottle and they encourage you to pass it around the restaurant (sips for the busboy)?

I was wondering about dinner…that doesn't sound encouraging at all.

Maybe "big and magnificent" is a little much…I guess we would be most interested in a great culinary experience….something that is few and far between in Detroit.

Thanks nsxtasy…Jam sounds the most exciting. Have your heard anything about Schwa good or bad?

Mid week brunch and other suggestions.

I am traveling to Chicago with buddy for a midweek culinary extravaganza in the week between Christmas and New Years and need advice about our culinary tour.

We are both foodies and appreciate a good meal (and will pay for It) and we eat anything you put in front of us. My buddy will be on leave from someplace warm and sandy and I want to take him to some great places to eat so that he can recall a few great meals over his next cold MRE.

So we are visiting mid week Tues-Thursday and I was wondering if there is a place that offers a great brunch like something akin to the Publican on a Sunday…except mid week. I know this might be a stretch.

As far as our dinner selections I was thinking go big and magnificent one or two nights. Here is my short list. (Assume we do the tasting menu where offered):

L20
Graham Elliot (been here before but would go again)
Avec
Blackbird

….of course we would love to go to Alinea, but have been on wait list at least a dozen times and have pretty much given up….ditto with getting "tickets" at Next.

Next assignment -- eat something interesting (something I can't get in Metro Detroit). Great ethnic food would be great….authentic mexican also good. Considering TOPOLOBAMPO, but open for suggestions.

Berlin and Belgrade Suggestions

My definition of unique is a meal that I could only get in Berlin and that I have no possibility of encountering in my native Detroit. We have an abundance of Lebanese and Arabic food in Detroit and decent asian options (Thai, Viet, Chinese and Japanese) so maybe some very authentic German cuisine or ethnic food that is a specialty of Berlin (i.e. Washington DC and ethiopian food)

No Detroit Board?

I have to issue my continued displeasure with no dedicated Detroit area board. Being lumped in with the "Great Lakes" is really demeaning to a rich and up and coming food scene.

Great Wine Dinner featuring Australian Wines [Suburban Detroit]

My wife and I attended a recent wine dinner at Cafe Muse featuring wines from Wirra Wirra vineyards. The wines were great and the five course menu perfectly paired with each dish. We sat at a long table with a number of other couples which encouraged conversation and fellowship. My wife and I have eaten here for breakfast a number of times and have never been disappointed. I think their dinner menu is really out standing and we look forward to more wine dinners/wine tastings at this little gem. Christian, my contact person was super helpful at arranging a vegetarian menu for my wife. This place is small and seems to have a great formula for interesting and tasty food.

Berlin and Belgrade Suggestions

I am in Berlin for four days, staying in the Mitte neighborhood and need some dinner suggestions:

1) I will be dinning with my boss who loves food and I would love to take him to a cool interesting spot with a tasting menu with wine or beer pairings. Any suggestions would be great...possibly within the Mitte district.

2) I would really like a suggestion of some place interesting. I am from Detroit like to try either really unique ethnic food or some traditional German food that I can't get at home.

Also spending 4 days in Belgrade. I don't know much about Serbian cuisine so any suggestions of restaurants would be of help.

Thanks in advance.

Taco trucks and street food in metro Detroit?

Ate at Jaques Taco's a few months ago and it was great. This culinary cart is a regular fixture on Woodward north of 13 Mile (north bound side) every Saturday.

Dinner over Thanksgiving weekend for a couple of out of towners

What does everyone think of PS7? I got kind of excited about their 7 course menu with cocktail pairing. It sounds fun, but I will leave it up for debate.

Vegan/Vegetarian in Detroit/Northville/Livonia/Novi/Canton area???

Where is Neehee's? I looked on their website, but couldn't find an address. Now I am even more intrigued to try it.

Tamales in the D?

Anybody know where I can get great tamales on a regular basis in the Detroit area? I am from much further south and really miss good, available Mexican food (not tex-mex).

And another thing....when is Detroit getting its own board. I for one could care less what they are eating in Kenosha. Nothing against Kenosha, I just think Detroit deserves its own board.

Your right. I was trying to make a reservation in the dinning room. We will definitely try the Lounge at Citronelle. Is it reasonable to expect to find a table around 8pm on Saturday night and enjoy a meal there? Should we come earlier? The menu looks great!

So I tried to make a Saturday reservation for the Lounge at Citronelle and nothing was available until 9:30....Central was suggested by the online reservation bot....anybody like Central....is it a suitable replacement for an interesting dinning experience?

Dinner over Thanksgiving weekend for a couple of out of towners

My brother and I are meeting in Wash. DC for the weekend and I was hoping to do dinner on Friday and Saturday nights. I really have two goals:

Goal Number One: Eat Something Interesting....I am from the Detroit area and my brother is from Mid-Missouri so I was hoping that we could eat somewhere that would give us a unique experience that we wouldn't find at home. Ethiopian sounds like something we might be interested in. Do these places usually serve wine or beer?

Goal Number Two: Eat Something Great....So I am an amateur foody and my brother will eat anything you put in front of him. I was hoping we could get a reservation at Minibar, but when I called for a reservation or to be even added to the wait list they laughed at me. Anybody have a better suggestion for a molecular gastronomy place or even a really well done menu with a set price. I am willing to spend a reasonable amount of money for a great food experience. Is Atlantico worth a visit?

Thanks in advance...
