Does anyone know of this type of deep-fried hot dog?

Vicious Dogs in North Hollywood

If you search through the comments, it does mention that this place has deep fried hot dogs. I didn't see it on their menu, though. It's worth a try. Give them a call.

How's Markets being sold piecemeal

I heard that the remaining How's Markets are all being sold individually. The article I read said the Pasadena location was sold to an "undisclosed buyer".

Does anyone know what kind of business will be taking over the Pasadena location or when the market will officially close?

Where to find square cupcakes

I'm looking for the tea cakes like Helms Bakery made so I'll be making a trip over to Martinos. I grew up in Montebello where there was a Helms Bakery plant. The Helmsman used to stop by our house a couple of times a week. I remember he'd open up the back of the truck and pull out drawers of doughnuts, pies, pastries, etc.

The Helms Bakery became an Orowheat Bakery which is closing down soon and moving the plant to Canada. At least Broquieres Dairy is still open in Montebello.

Where to find square cupcakes

I remember having these "square cupcakes" in grammar school. They were like a yellow cake with a thin sugar glaze on top. Later, we used to have them at business meetings along with doughnuts/pastries. I'm not sure if they're called a "tea cake"? Does anyone know where I might find them in the Pasadena/Alhambra/SGV area? Thanks.

Reopened philipino restaurant in Glendale area

You might be talking about Barrio Fiesta which was on San Fernando Road near the Forest Lawn Cemetary. I think it's still closed but you can do a Google search to see if it's reopened in another location in Glendale.

Need to find goza mats

I'm looking for goza mats. These are mats sometimes called straw mats that you can take to the beach/park to sit or lie down on. They usually roll up. I'm looking for a larger mat; tri-fold that is made out of woven plastic. I bought one years ago at Korean Farms in L.A. but they've closed down. These mats are great for picnics or to just spread out on the lawn in the backyard and take a nap.

I've seen the straw mats in Little Tokyo but I'm looking for a similar mat that is made out of woven plastic (more durable and waterproof).

Does anyone know where I might find these mats in the L.A./SGV/Pasadena area? Thanks ahead of time for any suggestions.
