What homecooked meals are best to bring to Jewish home during Shiva (period of mourning)?

I'm looking for some ideas for a kosher meal to bring to my friend's parent's house. They practice Conservative Judaism if that is relevant. Any threads I've searched have recommended bringing store-bought food but I'd rather bring something homemade. Preferably something pareve (no meat/dairy) that isn't too acidic (my friend has a condition, no tomatoes/oj). My first idea was a Spanish Tortilla, but I feel like there has to be something more traditional/flavorful.

Pumpkin Ravioli Dinner Party Menu Help

Thanks for such great ideas. Thanks everyone, I really like the idea of the parmesan, fennel and orange on a bed of spinach or arugula. I'll see what is fresh at my local market and find something delicious.

Wow that sound fantastic, I'd love the recipe for your pumpkin risotto to try later.

Any good places in Bradley Beach?

Please XNY, we don't know why you fight the traffic either. You should stay home with your lousy attitude, leave it to the locals. BTW, there are 2 delicious gelato places not 15 minutes from my door and I can't find pizza I like better outside of "The Shore" unless I'm in Italy or NYC.

Pizza in Monmouth County

Are you kidding? I've lived a few minutes from P&E's and I'm obsessed with their pies. It can't be compared to other pizzas. Sure if you eat a whole XXL you won't enjoy it. If you looking for thin crust, not super thin as P&E's, I like Squan Tavern. I'm not a huge fan of Vic's the cheese is a little too gooey, kinda slides of the slice. Not that I'll turn down a slice.

Best Grilled Cheese in Central Jersey?

Bond Street Bar in Asbury Park, they have a few varieties that probably rotate. I had one with sun-dried tomatoes and artichoke hearts (good bread and cheese too).

Trader Joe's to open in Monmouth Co

I know they are planning on redeveloping Peddler's Village in Wall (same co. did Brook 35). But most plans have stalled lately...so no TJ's there (boo). The TJ's is going to be in Shrewsbury, but not for a while. http://www.redbankgreen.com/2010/07/t...

Bond Street Bar - Asbury Park

Oh yeah, I love this place. AP has needed this. Not as snooty as Annex and amazing ambiance and prices. My favorite part is that the drafts are served in mason jars. Been here a couple times.

All the food I've tried is delicious, but I don't see it travelling well either. The best were the fried pickles and grilled cheeses (SOOO GOOD!). The comment referring to the Market in the Middle chef is correct (unless its changed since I heard). The bartenders don't ignore me no matter how busy they are. I'm always invisible at other bars and there are only 2 bartenders working usually.

One important note, CASH ONLY. I'm pretty sure they have a ATM, but I don't trust those stand alone units with their ridiculous fees.

Pumpkin Ravioli Dinner Party Menu Help

I'm having a few friends over. I plan on making Pumpkin Ravioli with some kind of brown butter/sage/pine nut sauce (still researching). For dessert I'm making a pear bruschetta with hazelnut cream (fabulous F&W recipe).

I need help picking the other course(s). It has to be vegetarian friendly. What kind of salads would go well for this seasonal inspired meal? Would soup be better, and maybe a green side dish (green beans?). Any suggestions would be welcome.
