Sosua and Cabarete, Dominican Republic

I will be in this area for a week during March staying in a self serve condo with family, all ages. We will have a car. As such I am looking for recommendations, all food types, all price points and all meals! Thanks in advance!

The Costco Thread - new products, old favourites, interesting items

I second the Ghiradelli brownie mix! My teenage kids love it.

Quick Saturday lunch spot between Tower of London and St. Paul's Cathedral [London]

Thank you so much! The pub sounds great, we will try that.

Quick Saturday lunch spot between Tower of London and St. Paul's Cathedral [London]

Hello! Can somebody recommend a place? We will be walking. We are doing the Borough Market for breakfast, then the Tower of London. We need a good, quick lunch spot before we climb the 500 plus steps to the top of St. Paul's. Any type of food is fine, as long as it is quick and delicious. Thanks so much!

Italian food in London

Hi Harters. I agree - Toronto has fantastic Italian food. The reason for my request is that I am travelling with my extremely picky teenage daughter who will only eat pizza (margherita only) or pasta (pomodoro only). I thought it would be nice if I brought her to one place where she would actually eat something besides bread. In exchange, she has promised to indulge me with at least two Indian and/or Pakistani meals without whining.

Are there any good Italian restaurants near the Sofitel St James hotel? Thanks!

Krispy Kreme on McCaul

I was at the KKD in Mississauga today. Great deal going. If you buy a 25 dollar gift card you get a dozen original glazed free. Yummmmm

High Line Park - lunch

We ended up going to Scarpetta for dinner, then picking up the High Line and walking north to the end. We each had to have the famous spaghetti in tomato sauce - although it was really good, I'm not sure it was worth $24. The little warm sandwiches with meat and cheese in the bread basket were delicious - we ordered a couple of extra baskets. Yes, I know - we weren't very adverturous in our ordering that night! Kids enjoyed it and hey - if they're happy, I'm happy.

Chocolada - Yonge/Steeles

The sour cream cake (not sure the official name) - multiple layers of very thin cake (alternating between chocolate and something that appears to be white/vanilla) with this sour cream filling in between each layer - is very good. Comes in quarter or half slabs and is covered with this chocolate ganache. Not really a budget establishment.

Prime Beef dip sandwich

I love the lunch prime rib sandwich at Canyon Creek. It comes on this soft, warm greasy bun, with dipping juice and horseradish on the side. I usually opt for mashed potatoes on the side, or the caesar salad. Their bread basket is really good too.

Best dosas?

My vote goes to Guru Lukshmi. Excellent. My Indian friends took me there and said it is better than what you get in India!!!

High Line Park - lunch

Hello - five kids ranging from 3 to 15 (yes - big family!). Either breakfast or lunch type is fine. Definitely something on the casual side. No budget, as long as it is quick and good. Thanks!

I am with you on Dolce Bombe. I always get the small nutella ones. SO GOOD!!!!!!! I usually order a couple dozen and call the day before.

Tampa Airport - any good lunch spots close by?

If we get there at 11, which is when they open, can we get in and out in half an hour? Google maps says it is 26 minutes to the airport. Is it fast food or sit down service?

Tampa Airport - any good lunch spots close by?

I will have a rental car - we will be driving in from Orlando. We won't have much time as we need to be at the airport by around noon. So it will be an early lunch. I'll be with two teenagers and seafood would not be a good choice for them! I was thinking Mexican would be a good way to end our trip as we are from Toronto where there is no decent Mexican food anywhere.

Tampa Airport - any good lunch spots close by?

Thanks very much! The menu does look really good. We will probably be pressed for time so the Taco Bus may be a better option.

Tampa Airport - any good lunch spots close by?

We are driving from Orlando to Tampa to catch an afternoon flight. We will aim to get to Tampa a bit early (just in case). Can anybody recommend a good, quick place to have lunch? Any type of food is fine, we aren't fussy.

Gourmet Garden / Gourmet Malaysia

They're open today. Try 416-332-8765. Best thing they sell is poh pia which they only have on the weekends.

Dim Sum near Yonge & Steeles

Not really - all the dim sum was pretty standard but well done. I did enjoy the XO noodles which aren't served at all dim sum restaurants.

Dim Sum near Yonge & Steeles

It's called Legend. I've been there many times over the past few years but have not been recently. Quality was high and food was good. I don't think they have carts - you order on the cards and occasionally they will carry dishes out on trays which you can get. Enter off Glen Cameron.

Malatesta tonight - any recommendations?

A large group of us were at Malatesta on Friday night. The gnocchi was extremely bland and uninspiring. The steak, however, was delicious and perfectly cooked. The other dishes we ordered were not memorable. The service was excellent (although they were pretty cheap with the bread) and the atmosphere was quite nice. I don't think I would return as I prefer my food to have a lot of flavour.

Upscale Mexican birthday dinner

I was at Fonda on Saturday night and the place was packed. We showed up after 8pm without a reservation and enjoyed our frozen magaritas (delicious) at the bar while we waited for a table. We had the guacamole (a must - so good, served with hot sauce, tortilla chips and fresh mini tortillas) as a starter. We also had the pork adobo, the shrimp, the fish appetizer and the duck appetizer. All wonderful and I would highly recomment Fonda. The warm, friendly service made the evening.
