Your favorite NOLA culinary neighborhood I live in what I consider a culinary neighborhood. I can hit most spots on Magazine between Jefferson and Louisiana (i.e., Coquette, Ignatius, Bulldog, etc) on foot, or further afield (i.e., Juan's or Bridge Lounge in the LGD or Lillette and Bouligny Tavern more Uptown) if I am feeling like using a walk to build my appetite, or I can walk over to the Delachaise or the Columns for a cocktail and people watching. |

One dinner tonight 8/4, where? Thanks, Bob! Marliave will be perfect :) |

One dinner tonight 8/4, where? Just found out I'll be in downtown Boston tonight staying at the Omni Parker House. Would love a dinner recommendation for two that isn't too fancy-schmancy. I know this will sound blasphemous but I don't really like seafood with the exception of a good crabcake. The husband prefers more understated food, but can usually find something on any menu. Can you help us out Boston CH'ers? Thanks! |

I wanted to give a +1 to Coquette. You can sit at the bar, have a few yummy drinks and some apps. Plus, Alley (sp?) is an excellent bartender! I recommend the Delachaise not so much for cocktails, while they do them well, they aren't artisinal, handcrafted, etc. What they do well is atmosphere. And their prices are very reasonable. I find Cure to be so pretentious that I won't go there anymore. Loa was making some great cocktails last time I was there. The bartender from Clever was infusing his own liquors and making some really creative stuff. |

Personally, I've always liked Zea's hush puppies: very crispy and moist. |

Now that the cold weather has been ushered in, hopefully for longer than a week, I'm craving chili. I've sought it out in years past, but never found a steamy, rich bowl of goodness. I'm not talking about the stuff you put on nachos or hotdogs or comes from surreptitious can labeled with the words "Dinty Moore" here's what I want: I believe the only place I've been in the past few years that had chili was Maspero's and it was only a small cup on the side. ----- |

I was lamenting to my husband the other night that I wanted a particular entree from a local restaurant but hadn't any desire to shower and dress to go to pick it up or eat at the restaurant. |

Roma Cafe delivers. Not that I recommend the food but when you're hungover sometimes delivery is better than taste. My go-to right now is Reginelli's. It's hard for me to believe that the food delivery market isn't recovered yet:( |

oh and let us not forget the cocktails So far you've listed mostly traditional cocktails but I wanted to throw in a recommendation for a place with really creative cocktails: Coquette. It's on the corner of Washington and Magazine uptown. I'd second Pravda for absinthe; during the afternoons it's relatively quite so you can sample and talk with the bartender about different kinds. I haven't been very often but Mr. B's makes a nice Brandy Milk Punch, which can just the right cocktail to cool you down since the weather is getting so darn warm. |

Stella! is out, need a fantastic Monday night Trip Ender In terms of atmosphere I think Coquette would probably be more to your liking. They aren't superduper casual but I've never felt overwhelmed by formality sitting at the bar trying all their yummy cocktails. |

Had a coupla mojitos from Margaritaville during FQF. Now I can't get them out of my head. Hounders, who serves your favorite mojito in the city? ----- |

JazzyB, the tequila drink you are referring to was called the Kahlo (maybe Khalo). It was probably one of my most favorite cocktails ever. Whatever the new drink is, Evil Wedding (or something to that effect) is not nearly as tasty. |

My aunt and niece are coming into town tomorrow and want a late lunch. They are staying on Poydras so we have lots of options and accessibility. When I queried my Aunt she said "local dives", I've not heard back about what exactly that entails. |

Good place to eat within walking distance of Rock 'N Bowl? I know that Rock n Bowl serves food. |

I've tried availing myself of knowledge in previous posts regarding fresh ham but couldn't find anything to answer my question. |

DH and I bike to Ignatius on lazy Saturday afternoons. DH loves their roast-beef po' boy. They often have a boudin meatloaf which is a favorite of mine. Its a quaint little place, when the weather is nice you can enjoy sitting outside. I would definitely recommend it since it is near your place of lodging. |

I'm in Flagstaff for a week. I've seen the usual chain restaurants but am looking for some more local cuisine. I'm good for almost any type so long as it is done well. |

Yo Mama's. |

Culinas, thank you for posting that. I can't make it but I will continue to keep an eye out for future ones. |

This is not restaurant related but pertains to food in N.O. |

Will be in town this weekend with DH and a good friend of ours. Are there any can't miss pizza joints? What about BBQ? That's Arkansas in case there another southern West Fork/ Fayetteville area. |

Where would you refuse to eat in NOLA even if your brother in law was paying? I have to agree about Andrea's. They keep their red wine chilled "because of Katrina". However, they did have the BEST cheesecake I've ever had in my life. |

Who sells it in the NO area? I'd like to try my hand at cooking some. |

Good N.O. Restaurant with Bar Seating I was thinking that perhaps Mr. B's would fulfill your requirements. They have a nice bar, good food and atmosphere. I have no been for dinner so atmosphere maybe a little different for the dinner crowd. |

I've been a couple times. It doesn't impress me much. It isn't bad mind you, but I'm one of those people who hate to drive to Metairie unless it's for a good reason. (Note: My subsequent visits were necessitated by factors other than food) My biggest complaint about the place: Their bar is separated from the main dining room so that bar patrons can smoke. This means every drink or beer you order smells heavily of smoke. I do, however, commend them for having a partitioned and separate ventilation system for this. |

If tequila is in your repertoire then I suggest a trip to Yo Mama's. It's on St. Peters between Bourbon and Royal Sts. My current favorite is the Chinaco Anejo. They also serve delicious burgers. |

French Quarter Festival - Food Stands Woot Flour Power! Friday we had the Praline Creme Brulee and (my memory fails me suddenly) but it was a white cake with berries. So delicious. However, the Abita beer was WAY off. We just skipped down to the Crescent City Brewhouse and grabbed a coupla weiss beers to go. :) |

The two LPK restaurants were formerly owned by the same couple, but a messy divorce got them each their own LPK (so I was told by a waiter at the FQ location). They both carry similar dishes, but I have yet to try pizza at either. FWIW, I prefer the atmosphere and some of the dishes at the FQ LPK. |
