good BYOB near javitz?

I could, and I may, However, I feel that most places are pretty strict about that stuff

good BYOB near javitz?

yes, the byob aspect is pretty important in this case. Otherwise, there are obviously many more options. I appreciate the suggestions though, thanks!

Do any places serve squirrel?

and I hope you answered, "a ton of places have haggis!"

edit: oops, I guess all of the haggis I've seen is not authentic. I wasn't aware of that, but now I know! I'm not really inclined to ingest that stuff anyway, authentic or not.

good BYOB near javitz?

yup. I may have to herd a group together and walk to wherever we go which is why the proximity thing is an issue. Too far away and it becomes unwieldy.

Yeah the area around javitz is obviously a complete desert like it always has been

Eataly: Manzo or Birreria?

I would avoid eataly on weekends at all costs. I have an aversion to feeling like cattle. That's just me. ymmv

good BYOB near javitz?

thanks for the suggestion. I may stop by there today and check out the situation. I've been meaning to have a look at that place anyway

good BYOB near javitz?

does anyone have any ideas? My searches have been fruitless. I've found one or two but they are not very enticing options for group eating and drinking. I would prefer a beer bar, but that's probably not going to happen, so anywhere with solid food and good atmosphere will have to do.

I have a special beer (one 12 ounce bottle) that I'm sharing with friends, and that is the only reason why I'm limited to byob.

preferably as close to javitz as possible. I know that makes it extra difficult but chelsea, midtown, and even upper hell's kitchen is fine.

If I'm really out of options please feel free to suggest places further away but make sure they make up for it by being awesome.

thank you so much for the help!

nice retirement party venue for 30-40 people?

At this point I'm thinking of a cocktail reception and lunch or maybe even brunch

My thinking is that we may be able to get a nicer space at a lower cost that way.

nice retirement party venue for 30-40 people?

Hi,

I'm looking for a place in Manhattan or Brooklyn that would serve as a nice space for a retirement party.

I would love a nice rooftop space, but I'm thinking most would be a little too pricey for me.

If you have any info about general cost and food quality of any space you recommend, I would be grateful.

thanks in advance

Where have all the good, reliable UWS Chinese restaurants gone?

I agree with you. I've lived on the upper west side for years and have nearly tried them all. The best chinese restaurant you could hope to find is simply mediocre. The rest are downright bad

Jalapeno - another UWS disaster

absolutely agree that Cilantro is a poor choice for mexican. I have given it a few chances since I live right near it and it always disappointed me. You are better off ordering takeout from The Great Burrito

R.I.P. The Fairway Lobster Roll

RE: trader joe's

are you kidding. The staff at the new trader joe's on the upper west side is the freidnliest staff at any supermarket I have ever encountered.

Maybe I ordered the wrong thing. I barely remember what it was, it was months ago. My friend thought her dish was good, but we just didn't enjoy the overall package. It's unlikely that I would go there again. thanks for the suggestions, though

I live right near both of them. Kefi I will admit is pretty good and a welcome addition to he area.

Zeytin has a couple of options that are ok, but they are few and far between. It is hit or miss but much more miss than hit.

have not been to salumeria rosi, but have been to the other 3.

Mermaid inn is a fun place to go eat, and the food is pretty good if you eat there, but I will have to disagree with your other 2 options.

Fatty crab is some of the most unremarkable food I have had in the area. Not to mention it is overpriced compared to other places in the area that serve equally bland Malaysian food.

Shake Shack? umm. No...... similarly, you won't find me standing on line at magnolias for cupcakes either. It's a burger and fries.

OOps. I meant to say chowhound. Not sure how I made that mistake!

I'm in the mid 80's near the park.

Rant: Upper West Side Restaurants

I'm fed up. I was scanning over my takeout options tonight and realized that the lack of good restaurant options on the upper west side is really getting to me. Sure there are some great upscale restaurants if you want to spend big bucks and a relatively good burrito place (the great burrito), but if you are looking for moderately priced options for reliable takeout in almost any genre (chinese, indian, italian) you are just SOL. I've live up here for years so I have tried everything. These places are all so sub-par.

Anyway this is my first post at eater so, hello. :)
