Borough market, London equivalent in NYC
I would say New Amsterdam Market. Unfortunately it's not held on a regular basis the way Borough Market is.

Cannelle Patisserie in Queens
Pookipichu, thank you for all of the reviews! I've been meaning to give Cannelle a try since I read about it in the latest issue of Edible Queens.

And I feel like I can trust your judgment because Baked is also my favorite bakery. LOL!
Sigmund Pretzels
Ed Levine just reviewed Sigmund!

I'm looking forward to checking them out!
Who Do You Think Makes The Best Caramels/Chocolates in NYC?
mamboqueen, I was just going to mention Liddabit!
We got their Beer & Pretzel caramels at New Amsterdam and they were fantastic. Then a couple of weeks ago I picked up their King bar at Gifted. One of the best candies I've ever had! I can't wait to keep trying them. I'm very curious about their Pumpkin Pie bar!
Serendipity and Wo Hop - What's Their Appeal?
I always thought they tasted like an icy Nestle Quick! LOL!
Definitely nothing special!
Is either A Voce worth trying?
My husband was at Columbus location a couple of weeks ago and had the oddest experience. His colleague's pasta arrived cool. When he returned it, instead of making a new one, the kitchen threw it back in a pan and added some water to reheat it. They couldn't even be bothered to crack a new egg into it. Completely unacceptable.
No problems that I can recall at the original location but it's been a while.
wedding cakes at a good value
I would recommend Alice's Tea Cup! We used them (Collette Foley) for our cake and it was delicious. I thought the price was very reasonable, she was very professional and didn't try to oversell us.
We also used Baked for our dessert table (they're our favorite bakery) with excellent results. For a wedding cake I wanted something a little prettier than what they were doing at the time.

What are you looking forward to trying?
I can't wait to try pickles from Sour Puss and a Sweetie Pie's savory pie. And maybe a Sugarbuilt cookie!

Breakfast Lover in Queens
Fazziole you nailed it! ITA! Bruce's is absolutely nothing special!
We're in Bayside (home to the "Nothing Special" meal) and can't wait to move.
When we do brunch out we either head into Manhattan or Brooklyn. Once in a while we'll hit a local diner but again, nothing special.
french macaroons
Another vote for Mitzy! My husband bought me some last year and they were wonderful!
Katz's--A Disaster
Anyone so concerned with the bread should head to Sullivan St. for a sandwich. At Katz's the bread is merely a vessel for the meat.
We stopped in for a quick spur of the moment bite before meeting a friend the other night and had no problems! Of course we had Dr. Brown's Black Cherry though.
We've had some good times at Katz's watching tourists order chili cheeseburgers or roast beef on white with mayo. We've even tried to advise a few of them. One group of 20-somethings from Boston seemed more concerned with the cheap beers than anything else!
Katz's--A Disaster
Love the hot dogs! And I'm probably the only person that actually doesn't mind the fries! LOL!
My parents go there and get pastrami, hot dogs and knoblewurst from the takeout area and prepare it all at home! They have a whole system where they steam the pastrami to reheat it!
Katz's--A Disaster
Severely misguided! I know many NY Jews (myself included) that still eat at Katz's. Been doing it for more than 35 years! If you know how to order you rarely leave disappointed.
Been to Ben's Best many times as well. I think it's slipped in recent years. And don't even get me started on Knish Knosh.
Bill's Bar & Burger: OMG I Agree with Alan Richman (Sort Of)
We were there just last night and weren't impressed at all!
My strawberry shake was okay, nothing special about it though. My husband had the draft root beer and it didn't even have a head!
We both ordered the Sunset & Vine and felt it had nowhere near enough flavor. I was expecting a slightly crispy, salty patty. It just wasn't in the cards! The entire sandwich was somewhat mushy. I'm not sure if it was because of the tomato or what. And my lettuce was more white than green
We split the Disco Fries and both thought they were good, but again, nothing life changing. They were however, probably the best part of our meal.
I'll take Shake Shack or even Five Guys over this mess any day! No need for a second trip to Bill's. There are already too many great burgers in this city!
Greenpoint Food Market
Fabulous!
My husband and I were in the back row selling homemade sodas and Gocco screenprinted cards. So much fun!!!
Husband's First Time in NYC - Need Good Food
Do you definitely want two Italian dinners? I would swap Paprika with The Redhead. It's not Italian but it is in the EV which is why I thought of it when I saw Paprika. They just received a star in the NYT.
I would also skip one of the slice pizza joints and head to Keste or Jim Lahey's Co.. For variation if nothing else.

Greenpoint Food Market
I read about the GFM on Grub Street the other day and I'm wondering if anyone has the inside scoop?
TIA!
Greenpoint Food Market
I received an email about the GFM today and I'm wondering if anyone has the inside scoop? Their site is a bit vague.

Can you get whole, non-sliced pastrami at Katz's?
We ordered them for our wedding and they were fabulous!
They'll vacuum pack whole or even slices.
Donut Plant - 2 donuts, 1 chance
It is delicious! But I feel like it's getting smaller and smaller!
Egg Cream Round-up
Do any of them go old school and offer a pretzel rod with it?
Which egg cream is your absolute favorite?
