where are the hot dogs???

Hardees, Sonic & Five Guys all have hot dogs. Makes me sad Five Guys doesn't have chili for theirs.

Top Chef Masters Season 4 July 25th

I'm looking forward to him also.

Art Smith competed before......that's kind of odd.

Kid Friendly/Post-game Recommendation in Richmond

I giggle every time I hear the name Blowtoad. It wouldn't be nearly as funny if Jimmy Sneed didn't own the place (yes, I am 12....lol)

"Least Favorite Vegetable" Poll

We are kindred spirits. I leave the celery out of the trinity and use a red bell pepper (or yellow or orange) instead of the green.

"Least Favorite Vegetable" Poll

I love squash and abhor eggplant.

"Least Favorite Vegetable" Poll

Eggplant, radishes, turnips (love turnip greens though).

snacks or other foods you eat, that others find " gross"

We have a local place that will have a special of chicken skin tacos....never had them but I'd love to try one.

Kid Friendly/Post-game Recommendation in Richmond

Bottoms Up was my first thoughts as well.

Town House in Chilhowie, Va. closing

I see a trip to Philly in my future. Thanks for the update!

Are You Snacking on Anything Right Now?

Peanut butter right out of the jar is one of life's true great pleasures. But it can't be the natural, organic, stir me first kind of stuff ;-)

Food Network Star

I agree on Hawaii guy and the one guy (Justin maybe...I am awful with names at this point in the competition) is in need of serious teeth whitening.

I like the black guy from Louisiana (who got all the rave reviews) and there are several contestants I think have real potential.

I think the right person was sent home first...she was like nails on a chalkboard.

Food Network Star

I enjoyed it too. I think it is much better than the previous format.

Refills To Go at Sit Down Restaurants

I go to an Indian place for lunch that serves a large lunch sized entree and I always have some left for the next day...they always ask if I'd like more rice and Naan.

I say yes and add a couple of bucks to the tip as a thank you.

What foods live up to their reputation? What do you 'rave' about?

-Pimento cheese
-Guacamole
-A perfect Reuben
- fried chicken
-fish & chips
-Cheeseburger
-grilled cheese
-tacos
-chili & slaw dog

Does anyone make a Chili Onion Ring dish?

I bet Sonic would make some for you.

Refills To Go at Sit Down Restaurants

I've never seen it addressed on a menu.

Refills To Go at Sit Down Restaurants

I would have no issue with paying for it if that was the policy. For me, the choice to take a drink with me is about convenience, not about money.

Refills To Go at Sit Down Restaurants

That's what I liken it to....the out the door refill at a fast food place.

Refills To Go at Sit Down Restaurants

At one place, El Paso on Hull Street, they even ask if you want a to-go cup when they bring the bill. That was what prompted me to ask for my drink in a to-go cup when I order it in the first place.

I get that for people who live in areas where it's not the norm, it seems odd, but here it's not abnormal at all.

Refills To Go at Sit Down Restaurants

Yes....the places I do it are common, casual lunch places. Not higher end tablecloth, fancy places.

Refills To Go at Sit Down Restaurants

At lunch, if I am at a sit down place I'll ask for my drink in a to-go cup when I order it. Servers don't seem to mind and all of them say "let me top you off" when I pay the check.

It annoys my husband though ;-) He sees it the same as you.

Seperate Checks?

In the camp of it not being a breach of etiquette. Of course some restaurants will have a policy of no separate checks for parties of X or more or the like and in that case it would be an issue.

Fair & carnival food

Funnel cakes
Kettle corn
Italian sausage

Which Two Cuisines for the Rest of your Life?

Mexican and Italian also. The one meat would definitely be the almighty pig.

Chicken would be the first eliminated from the list.

How far are you willing to drive for a good restaurant?

45-1 hour. We live outside of town.

Though in recent years, Tuesday nights downtown have become less and less common.

We often venture out on Sunday nights.

Foods you dread making because they’re time-consuming

Nope.....no hose here either. It sucks.

Foods you dread making because they’re time-consuming

Yes....I have a double sink too. One side is larger and so many things (my Dutch oven for example) will fit in there, but the large roasting pan is my nemisis.

When I die, if that dirty roaster is awaiting me, I'll know I'm in hell.

Foods you dread making because they’re time-consuming

The issue is getting my husband (the one who uses the pan)on board. He swears it cooks differently when lined with foil or the like.

With the new Dawn detergent it isn't as bad, though I still get more soapy, greasy water on me than I do in the sink when rinsing, etc.

Before I met him, I always kept disposable roasting pans on hand.

Foods you dread making because they’re time-consuming

As long as I have the time and am not rushed, I generally don't mind all day cooking.

I am one who generally does not want to eat it by the time I have spent all day on it.

While they tend to be the simplest meals....I hate any meal involving the large roasting pan. I abhor cleaning it with all of my being and throughout the meal all I can think about is facing that pan. One reason I hate Thanksgiving.

Frozen Burritos-Do You Eat Them?

For me, frozen burritos are like frozen pizza. A good one is great, but a bad one is great too....lol
