Who serves your favorite sweetbreads?

The new BC Tavern in Bee Cave has great crispy sweetbreads. It was formerly Zoot and the owners also own Wink, so that explains the sweetbread connection. $11 & $16, depending on size - http://www.bc-tavern.com

Fonda West?

There's a new place open near Lakeway: Santa Catarina (http://www.santacatarinarestaurant.com). Opened by 2 guys who were at Manuel's and Fonda San Miguel. Awesome interior-Mex food: cochinita pibil, totopos, sopes, rellenos en nogada, etc at about half the price of Fonda. It's in an older strip center but they've tried to brighten things up with artwork and music. Official opening is mid-Jan, but that's so they can work out the service kinks. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the nabe!

I want to order a turkey from a restaurant for Thanksgiving Day. Any recs?

I'm sure they will love it! It kind of looks like a traditional turkey cause they leave the drumsticks and wings. I had heard $15 a pound from Buster's, but maybe that has changed. If you don't have that many to feed, you can get a turducken roll from Stuffed (of course you'll have to cook it) that feeds 5-8. Reservation deadline is the same, Friday the 19th. http://stuffedfoodstores.com/

I want to order a turkey from a restaurant for Thanksgiving Day. Any recs?

I just heard Buster's BBQ in Lakeway is doing smoked turduckens. They get them from Stuffed Cajun Meat Market on 620 and smoke them. For those who don't know, this Cajun goodie is boneless duck breast stuffed inside a boneless chicken stuffed in a boneless turkey. The whole creation is then stuffed with - stuffing! Buster's has stuffing choices of jambalaya, shrimp, crawfish, and boudin. They are smoking them for pickup on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving but you have to reserve one by the 19th. One turducken feeds 10-15, btw. http://busterslakeway.com/

Need Fresh Oyster Advice Please - Post Oil Spill

Love Pacific Star! $8.99 for a dozen, fresh & chillin' on ice. Also on Wednesdays, the Grille at Rough Hollow near Lakeway has a dozen for $9.99 and an awesome view of Lake Travis.

Who's gonna be open Thanksgiving?

Out West, Hudson's on the Bend will be open with two seatings, 11-4 and 6-9. You order off a menu and they will have turkey and dressing. The Travis Restaurant in Lakeway Resort will serve a giant buffet (50+ dishes) from 10-3.

Breakfast-Lake Travis area??

Nice list! To that, I would add:
Noble Pig, on 620 N on the way to Lakeline (opens at 6 am, blueberry waffles, smoke their own bacon)
Los Pinos, on Hudson Bend Road - breakfast tacos, awesome salsa, Huevos Caribenos (w black beans)
2 Hot Mamas, on 620 at Lohman's Crossing - breakfast tacos, 6 different salsas
Also, you mentioned Ate Cafe - they make their own granola (and sell it packaged to go). I'm not a granola fan, but this is surprisingly good.

desperate for a decent baguette in Austin

Artisan Bistro in Lakeway makes a baguette you would swear came from France. They also make great croissants and pains au chocolat. This may be farther than you want to go, but Rolling in Thyme and Dough in Dripping Springs bakes 8-10 types of bread daily, including a really good sourdough. The chef is from Belgium.

Lakeway Restaurants

Thanks! The focus is strictly out West - Lakeway, Bee Cave, 4 Points, Spicewood. There are a lot of new places out here.

Grill at Rough Hollow-Lakeway

$10 oysters on Wednesdays for Happy Hour. An awesome spot for brunch - you can sit out by the lake, and brunch entrees run $8-11. Eggs Benedict Italiano with prosciutto instead of canadian bacon is pretty amazing.

Have you tried Chi-Town Chicago Dogs? http://chitownhotdogsandmore.com/ Most dogs are less than $4, and they source the ingredients from Chicago: Vienna beef, Gonnella buns, etc.

They actually sell that salsa to go in pint and quart containers. It's awesome for parties.

Eats in the Hill Country Galleria?

Sorry! They ARE open, dinner only, not for lunch. They say there was a lot of confusion with yelp when they closed the other location. My apologies - I saw they were cooking at the Fall Fest this weekend in Marble Falls and investigated further. I should have done that in the first place!

Zoot is definitely closed. Check yelp. Did you call 477-6535 (listed on their site)? Disconnected.

These guys are awesome! It's also worth noting they serve breakfast, too - starting at 6 am *groan!*. Saturday, we plan on checking out the blueberry waffle with sausage and scrambled egg.
