Thanks to sgordon for being the first featured Chowhound on NY CHOW Report! I visited Korzo Haus and definitely thought it was worth covering. The piece is below, if you're curious. Please keep the suggestions coming, folks! --Alex

What would YOU do with 40 lbs of hierloom tomatoes?

Wow, that's amazing. I actually love Francis Lam's tomato recipes. (Full disclosure: He's a friend!) But his ratatouille is the best I've ever had: http://www.gourmet.com/food/2007/09/ripe_tomato2 and this 5-minute pasta with a crudo tomato sauce is Amazing & you might even be able to get the kids to eat it-- it's even good the next day as a room-temp pasta salad. http://www.gilttaste.com/stories/1063-perfect-five-minute-raw-tomato-pasta-recipe Then there's the Franks' Sunday Sauce, which is wonderful and would likely freeze well. Good luck! http://www.amazon.com/Frankies-Spunti...

Maison Laduree has finally opened!

Anybody have an opinion as to how they compare to macarons from Mad Mac? I love those. Chocolate especially.

Birthday dinner for two for $100 total

Also, it's looking like Colicchio & Sons Tap Room is among the restaurants that has extended its RW menu, meaning a $36 prix-fixe at dinner. It's a very solid menu in a pretty space, and you can wander down the High Line with your friend afterwards! Resys on OpenTable.

Birthday dinner for two for $100 total

Hi, luckiestduck, what day of the week are you going? That might help folks advise. Buttermilk Channel has a $25 3-course prix fixe on Mondays, for example, which is a great deal, and includes some delicious options like chilled summer soups & bacon-wrapped trout... you wouldn't feel cheap & you'd get out under $100, easy.

I wonder, too, if in the summertime the LES takes a hit because folks are headed to more, eh, nature-y NYC spots, you know? The High Line, Rockaway Beach, Governor's Island, Coney Island... my money says a lot of people are eating dinner at or near those places.

Thanks again for the recommendations! I'll let you know if I try any and if one pans out for the NY CHOW Report!

These sound great. I am crazy about Comté, and I've been dying to check out Peasant. Those scallops sound pretty incredible, too. Thanks, H Manning!

Great, thanks! Farmerie is really good with mushrooms, if I remember correctly, but I'd not heard of that dish. Very helpful!

I love a good foie gras doughnut, and am particularly smitten with the one at Traif. I'll have to check out Do or Dine this fall. And the DeKalb market suggestion is excellent; I've been wanting to check that one out. I've been craving shortribs, too.

Thanks!

These all sound amazing, Seth. Sockeye with rootbeer?! Rad. I do like Rayuela's ceviche, so I'll definitely try to check out the tuna rellena. And I like Falai-- I hope they won't close, which is a rumor floating around town: http://newyork.grubstreet.com/2011/08...

Thanks so much.

From CHOW: What should we feature next in the NY CHOW Report?

Hi, folks. I've been hosting a weekly video segment for CHOW.com that runs in our New York Digest and on NY1 (Tues/ Sat), and I've really relied on these boards for help finding stellar examples of dishes around the city.

We've featured sabich at Taïm, khachapuri at Georgian Bread, chole bhatura at Sapthagiri, and crudo at Esca, along with 35 other restaurants. A number of the (mercifully short) segments can be found here: http://www.chow.com/digest/new-york-c...

So I'm asking you: What should we feature next? What underhyped restaurant do you love like crazy? What's the must-order dish? Right now I'm hunting for a great piece of fish, along with a few other great summer-to-fall dishes.

Chowhounds know best, so thanks in advance for commenting with suggestions!

PS: There's a good chance we'll be able to feature the Chowhound whose suggestion we use in the piece airing on NY1, if schedules match up!

great not-too-pricey ceviche in sunset park or elsewhere?

Hi, there. Here's a very specific request: When I visited Mexico City some years ago, I was struck by the kids would belly up to the bars of cevicherias, eating shrimp ceviche out of big glass ice cream sundae dishes. They looked soo happy. It was cheap and they were cheerful.

I have been seeking the perfect ceviche-- not too fancy, most fishes OK, not pricey, nor overwhelmed with other ingredients-- and am having a hard time. Does anyone have a favorite? Outer boroughs preferred but not required. (Have been to Desnuda & even to Barzola in Williamsburg but neither is quite what I'm looking for).

Thanks!

Good Ceviche Downtown?

Does anyone have an absolute favorite ceviche OR crudo in the 5 boroughs? Less pricey/ sustainably-fished preferred. Thanks!

NY CHOW Report: Okonomiyaki at Otafuku

Otafuku also serves yakisoba, and I mispronounced okonomiyaki in this piece. I regret the error.

Alex Stupak's Empellón

Yeah, I'm so glad you wrote about it, Peter! That dessert list looked so good we didn't know where to start. I loved that the chocolate flan tasted like a really fancy twist on Red Hots.... or Atomic Fireballs. Ha!
