How early for Sunday brunch to avoid a long wait?

Just to follow up - we ended up at Highland Kitchen. Got there about 10 minutes before they opened at 11 and were seated right away when the line moved inside.
I had not been before and chose Shrimp and Grits. Four shrimp on a puddle of grits with vinegary collard greens, bacon and some mushrooms. It was so-so. Too much vinegar and possibly lemon on the mushrooms(?) for my liking. But the service, atmosphere, etc were great. Others in my party were quite happy with their food choices so I would go again and pick something else to eat.

How early for Sunday brunch to avoid a long wait?

Sunday brunch (tomorrow) for 5 at a somewhat small casual place like the Neighborhood, Spot Cafe, City Girl Cafe, Cafe Luna, Ball Sq Cafe or even the Friendly Toast. How early would we need to get there to not have a long wait? We really do not want to meet until 11ish...
Do any of these place make reservations?
And should I take any off my list as either too busy to consider or too crappy food-wise?
Any other suggestions in a similar vein? I don't want to do East Coast Grill or Henrietta's Table or Blue Room. Think casual.

Scoring a patio table at Oleana

Great suggestion especially if I am with one of my beer-obsessed children. Hmmm, that doesn't sound good- they are in their 20s.

Scoring a patio table at Oleana

Does anyone have any advise about getting a table on the patio at Oleana if I cannot be there at 5:30? Best bet timeframe?
And if I am not picky about the patio, does going on a nice night mean that it is possible to go there as a walk-in mid-evening and actually get a seat? Does opening the patio mean that there are tables available for walk-ins or are they in such high demand that it still is tough to get in? I hate having to plan as far ahead as is necessary to book a table between 6:30 and 8 there.

Edible food when driving from Boston to NYC on 84

Actually Tarrytown on Friday night and into the city in the morning.
And salad, seafood, homemade soups are more the type of food I'm looking for than barbeque, deli meats and a side of fries. Much as I'm tempted to try BT's given the claims of better than Blue Ribbon that I've read on this board. Must be good...

Edible food when driving from Boston to NYC on 84

This question is not about great food but looking for suggestions on an easy stop when timing demands a meal on the way to NY.
What I want is easy on-off the highway, non-fast food but reasonably quick, and fairly healthy - which leaves out the obvious Rein's Deli.
Is there any place good in West Hartford that you can walk into for Friday night supper?
I know I could post this on Southern NE board but prefer this one.
Thanks for any, any, any ideas.

B'fast in Watertown - wait times?

Meeting up for a noonish meal today(Sunday) and wondering what to expect for waittimes at Spot Cafe, Uncommon Grounds or Sofra. Unfortunately time is somewhat limited - need to be finished by 1:30.
Any other suggestions on a good midday meal?

Waltham near the movie theater

I'm looking for suggestions of where to grab a bite to eat before a film in Waltham and am wondering what the CH folks eat when they are not being ubber-foodies and just wanting to not spend too much $. I've tried Tacqueria and Ponzu and liked but am looking for some other choices. Solea, Tempo and Tuscan Grill are too expensive for this casual don't-want-to-cook night. Is Restaurante Marcellino eatable food - I always look at it when I park? What about Central American places - isn't there a Costa Rican, ElSalvadoran, Guatemalan place somewhere within walking distance of the Embassy Theater?

Vegetarian suggestions within walking distance of Park St T

Is Sultan's Kitchen ok for dinner? Most reviews seem to be for lunch and say it is pretty tiny. Can you get a table to eat there? Food sounds good and pretty interesting.
The Italian ones you suggested sound like vegetarian is not exactly emphasized. It would be one thing if fish or chicken was an option but my friend doesn't do them.
Is Lala Rokh any good?

Vegetarian suggestions within walking distance of Park St T

I'm looking for suggestions that won't be exceptionally expensive and are a short walk from Park Street for dinner. Last time out we went to Oleana but I'm hoping to spend a little less and also stick to Boston. Got any suggestions?

Rovezzi's Worcester

I'm wondering why I do not see much about Rovezzi's Italian restaurant on Grove Street. I ate there a while back and enjoyed the food and the space but felt the service was a little oddly paced.

Shrewsbury Street Worcester

What's good on Shrewsbury Street these days?

Theater District when resvs are not possible

Nah, we're on a bus from the school. Which is really the thing that limits most of the options. I should just learn to visit on my own schedule but this is so convenient and the play tickets are reasonable too.

Theater District when resvs are not possible

Thanks for the suggestions.
I cannot believe I did not think of the reserve and cancel strategy, duh...
Any good pizza in the area in case we are really pressed for time? I mean, I am coming down from Boston and all the New Yorkers up here love to tell us that the only "real" pizza is found in NYC. Of course if you talk to someone from Chicago or _____ (you fill in the blank) they would say the same thing. But then too, I could say that about cheesecake too. And I could manage to see a play with just a hunk of cheesecake to sustain me, I suppose.

Theater District when resvs are not possible

Hi NYC,
I'm in from Boston this Friday and looking for help with some relatively inexpensive (less than $35pp) dinner ideas before Spamalot (8PM) with my college-age son. Problem is that we get a bus to the city with the college and last time the traffic was so bad that we had only an hour to eat. Theater is on W 45th between 7th& 8th. Last time we ended up dumbfounded along restaurant row (which I did not even know existed) rushed in to eat some ok Asian stuff. It was cheap and quick but hardly exciting.

RW - Domani

Anyone else been to Domani for RW? I'm going tomorrow and the menu is amazingly full of choices. Just wondering what's been tried and true?
