Staying at Pan American in Queens for a week Only 2 blocks away on Queens blvd is Great Wall supermarket. It an asian market in back with fruits and vsggies. In the front on Queens Blvd., they serve hot food like dim sum, baked goods, coffee tea drinks etc. They also have inexpensive take out lunches where you get a choice of 3 items and rice for $4.95 plus you get a soup broth. You get to pick from a hot table of about 15-20 items including veggies.don't go too late in the pm or you get the leftovers.Don't be concerned about not speaking chinese because lots of non-chinese buy food there, Just say rice and point to the items you want. |

Roast duck vs, flat roast duck? I noticed some of the roasted meat places in chinatown have the regular roasted duck in the window. right next to it looks like a flattened out roast duck. How does the flat one taste and is it roasted too? |

126-06 14th Avenue This is a great hidden gem off the beaten track. It is a few blocks away from 20th ave. shopping area. The cheesecakes are terrific. They put toppings on to order-strawberry, pineapple, etc. They also have great pastries. I bought the rainbow bar. It is about 1 foot long with 3 sides covered in chocolate. When you slice it up, it has the green, yellow and red sections. It was very moist and wonderful. I also heard the pies are great. those are for next time. Prices much less than Junior's or Cascon. Only open Thurs., Fri.,Sat, and Sun. I also got garlic bread with whole slices of garlic in bread , just out of oven. |

I though sure prices would go up. How much for cha siu bao now? |
|

Great News.Did you try the cha siu bao? Is it the same as the old version before they closed? What about prices? Thanks |

Just heard 9 chatham aka hop shing opening this weekend. Hope the cha sui bao are the same recipe as the old ones. Hopefully won't be too much of a price increase. I think they were 60-70 cents before they closed last spring. |
