Are we really related?!

Being suprised by family members having different tastes in food is like being suprised they have gone into a different profession. No one is surprised when relatives have different jobs, so why is anyone suprised relatives have different tastes? What's the big deal?

Soft drinks with balls

Sorry, what I should have said is that Malta is a barley/hops-based soft drink that tastes like molasses.

You might want to try Goya Malta. Most stores stock Goya products in the Hispanic food section. But be warned, Malta is an extremely sweet Molasses-based soda - it's an acquired taste. But it's extremely popular in Mexico and Latin American countries.

Taco Bell quality

Yes, because nobody local works at the international "food" conglomerate franchises, right? The food might not be very good, but chains probably hire more local people than the local restaurants do.

Dunkin' Donuts-do you really like more than the coffee

I'm a big a fan of the DD caramel coolatta. As for their coffee - I can take it or leave it, it's nothing special. In Wilkes-Barre, Pa., we have a DD directly across the street from a Starbucks, and DD is doing nicely - probably because it's about $.50 to $1.00 cheaper for the same size beverages depending on what you get. But as for flavor, I prefer Starbucks' regular coffee over DD by a lot.

What Kind of Cooking Show Host Do You Prefer?

Ming, Lidia, and America's Test Kitchen are my favorites. All are laid back and make things that run from beginner to expert. I like a show that varies the difficulty level of the recipes (I'm in the beginner/intermediate range). For entertainment value, I like Todd English. He has an easygoing flair - not over-the-top.

MUST streamline Christmas dinner--need help with my solutions ??

Hey Steady, you asked about the possible dryness of the chicken in the recipe I posted. You're right, the paste does keep the chicken moist, but the most important part is the time - 22-23 minutes get the chicken just right. Oh, I forgot to mention, the recipe actually tastes better with the Lipton Garlic and Herb soup mix - don't know why I didn't mention that before - but onion is good too; it 's a stronger flavor though.

You might think this is low-brow for the occasion, but I get raves about this chicken dish - people think it's a lot more than it really is. Some of the ingredients might turn you off, but trust me, your guests won't notice. The dish takes about 15 minutes to prepare and 23 minutes to cook. So, it's extremely simple and fast, which is what you requested.
- Heat oven to 400
- Mix together 1 packet onion soup mix, 1/3 cup mayo and 1/4 cup freshy grated Parmesan cheese until it forms a paste.
- Put 4 to 6 boneless, skinless chicken breasts on cookie sheet. Spread paste on tops and side of breasts.
- Dust generously with favorite bread crumbs (this keeps paste from sliding)
- Bake for 22-23 minutes.
(To save time, you can do everything but the baking the night before.)

As for the non-chicken people, your pork tenderloin idea is a good one.

Worst Beer Ever?

The worst beer I've ever had is Red, White and Blue. About 20 years ago it was sold for $2 a case. And, to kill the flavor you had to drink nearly frozen.
