Sway is upscale fusion Thai. I have only been once. The portions are small and the prices are high. The place was packed with people and as loud as a firecracker. They offer oysters on the half shell at three dollars a piece. Imported from Prince Edward Island. That is 36 dollars a dozen.

Gulf oysters are in season. Pappadeaux's has a Monday thru Thursday special for $5.95 a dozen. Sway is nice but I do not think it is worth the money.

I would eat close to the One World Theater. Buenos Aires Cafe at the Hill Country Galleria or Ronnies Real Food Bistro on Commons Ford road. Check Ronnies website and make a reservation. You can also bring your own drinks without a corkage fee. Austin traffic is terrible so pick a spot near the venue. Tony C's at the Galleria offers Italian and good pizza. The Grove is also close but their food seems to be hit or miss.

Musashino for udon. Chen's Noodle House for the best Chinese noodles.

I think it is worth a drive. Great food, beautiful grounds. Check it out.

One meal? Franklins. The Salt LIck is a journey. Fun but not the best Q. I do like The Salt Lick. Try the turkey. Bring a cooler, wine on site. Spend an evening. Cheers

La Condesa and El Meson. I prefer the Burleson road location of El Meson. Near the airport only open for breakfast and lunch. Not Tex Mex and both lard free.

North By Northwest has the best food. Check it out.

Perla's offers oysters at $13.50 and up for a half dozen. All from out of state. Gulf oysters are in season now and available. Texas produces some great oysters and they are a bargain at the moment.

Captain Benny's has Galveston Bay oysters for $5.99 a dozen. $4.99 a dozen
during Happy Hour. Very fresh and tasty.

The oysters are excellent at Pappadeaux's. At 6.95 a dozen the best deal in town.

Baguette et Chocolat is a wonderful place for breakfast. Arrive early as it is a small place crowded on weekends.

The Texas oysters are looking good. The BP spill has put many Louisiana oyster beds out of production. The Texas oysters may run out by Christmas.

Ronnies Real Food Bistro offers a 4 course meal for $25 BYOB. Make your reservation in advance as certain dinners sell out. Great value.

Lamberts would be my first choice. For value try Moonshine.

Bistro 88 is good. More upscale fusion than a typical Asian restaurant. I think Tom's post is very
close to my experiences in Austin. Asia Cafe, Chen's Noodle House, T&S Seafood, Ho Ho and
First Chinese Bar-B-Que are also good spots.

Oysters become sweeter as the water temp drops. I would wait till we get some cold weather.
Last year Pappadeaux's was offering a dozen fresh Gulf oysters for $3.95. By far the best deal in Austin. After the BP mess we will see if they do it this year.
If you want to know where the oysters are from ask to see the bag tag. Many times they are not
as advertised. Quality has been known to say the oysters are from Louisiana when in fact they are from Galveston Bay.
Last year my friends and I ate a ton of oysters at Pappadeaux's. Wait a bit and keep your eyes open.

Habanero Cafe does a chicken mole on friday as a lunch special at is outstanding. Also Pao's Mandarin House in Lakeway has a hot mustard sauce that will blow your head apart.

Thanks for the post. I never heard anything about this event. No mention of Franklin's here in Austin. I have not yet had the pleasure but all the reviews are great.
