Paris in two weeks with my Italian chef husband

I second Au Passage, esp. for lunch. It's mostly locals and not too crowded. the menu de marche is the best bang for your euro. 19.50 for app, main, cheese and dessert. last time i was there, they had the most delicious veal liver....

Paris in two weeks with my Italian chef husband

I LOVE 37m2's bubble tea. They top Q-Tea, ZenZoo, Bubble-T Chatelet, and Bubble Tea Belleville any day (though hubby prefers Bubble Tea Belleville).

vietnamese food in paris

An Indian-Vietnamese taxi driver and (former pastry chef) readily mentioned that his favorite places for Vietnamese grub were Song Huong and Dong Tam. He said to try the poisson au caramel and soupe au tamarin crevette....

Disappointing experience at Saturne - your comments?

I, too, was pretty disappointed with Saturne when I ate there a couple of months ago. Uneven seasoning on some of the dishes, particularly on a very bland veal carpaccio, made it a lackluster experience. The highlight of the meal was a perfectly grilled spring onion...

In terms of comping policies, I've personally never seen a French restaurant comp a dish, so I wouldn't expect it. In most cases, they will redo the dish or ask you if you would like a different one to replace it. Then again, maybe others have had a different experience?

Recommendations near Montreuil, Paris

I'm sorry, but I have to disagree. I live in Montreuil, and yes, generally it's a poor neighborhood, but the area around Croix de Chavaux/Robespierre is changing and becoming quite hipster/bobo.I would compare it to Fort Greene Brooklyn currently or Williamsburg Brooklyn before it became gentrified. There are a lot of artists around this area, not to mention, organic stores (Nouveaux Robinson) right around Robespierre.

L'amourette is a charming French restaurant that is right on the rue Robespierre and serves traditional fare. Everything is well executed and it's great if your parents don't want to go very far.

On the same block, there's an Italian restaurant, L'atelier, which is not bad if you're graving pasta.

I also like Milonga, which is further away in Montreuil (and right next to the HLMs but hey, it's worth the trek), which has fusion "world" influences. I normally do not like fusion, but this place really hits the spot.

And Villa 93 is good for parents (I guess). It's, as vielleanglaise said, pretentious traditional French.

Second on the fact the market at Croix de Chavaux is awesome. You can bargain easily and you can always get a 4 euro galette from the Lebanese stand filled with meat, chese, labneh, etc.

American chef run or american-themed restaurant in Paris?

I need to book a restaurant for a business dinner and for some reason, my boss wants it to be "American." I'm taking the liberty to interpret this as american chef run or american themed restaurant, etc. I looking for restaurants less like Joe Allen or Moutarde and more like...Spring (without the 3452-month wait).

Any suggestions?

west african in Paris?

I second Rio dos Camaroes. Best bet is to go for lunch.

Also, this restaurant is located 2 min away from a "foyer africain" so if you want authentic, your best bet is to go there and get a 5 euro plate.

Best pizza and pasta in Paris

I'm not necessarily looking for NY-style pizza, but just good pizza in general. Most place here are pretty frenchified, using hot pepper oil instead of hot pepper flakes, etc. Where do you get your "very good Italian food"?

Best pizza and pasta in Paris

Hello Foodies,

I'm looking for the best and (authentic) pizza and pasta in Paris. I have a preference for hole-in-the-wall, cozy, mom&pop restaus, but really, anything that can satisfy my craving will do. I'm talking about handmade spagetti, beautifully crusty pizzas with fresh mozzerella. Know any good places?

For reference, I'm from NY, and adore the pizza from Trattoria Zero Otto Nove, so anyone who recommends pizza that approaches that yumminess will receive my eternal gratitude.

Thanks!
