Small plates/tapas style Italian Food

I'll be in Rome, Modena, and Parma region in a few weeks. I have a great idea for a small plates/tapes style restaurants but don't know if Italians do this in Italy. Can anyone suggestion this type of restaurant? And/or must have street food? Any suggestions would be helpful.

Good Italian in Culver City?

Not familiar with CC but in Marina Del Rey there's C&O on Washington Blvd. There's actually two locations close to eachother. The one closer to the beach is fairly priced and the wine flows like water for cheap.

Spice Market on the westside

I really enjoy cooking but I hate going to the supermarket to buy a $5 jar of spices. And not even good spices. Is there some where on the westside were I can buy all types of spices by weight?

Must do places in SF?

Thanks!

joe's pizza (from nyc) in santa monica

I just had two slices. I was expecting a lot more. The crust is a little too chewy for my taste. I still think Santa Monica Pizza is the best pizza in SM and Vito's in the best pie in LA.
