Mahoney's Po-Boys on Magazine

We LOVED this place! We ate there twice in a 4 day trip! The onion rings are tasty, airy bites of deliciousness, and the roast beef and gravy po boys were amazing! We are two skinny people who ate every scrap of that onion ring heaven, and every bit of our big sandwich, both times! They ask if you want a frosted mug with your root beer! We found the staff to be very nice and the owners grandma from Japan was working both days and charming the entire place! You are so lucky to have such an easy, yummy place there! Please open one in Burbank!

Eat Restaurant

Yum! We ate breakfast there last weekend and everything was great! We eat there at least once every trip to New Orleans. The biscuits are perfect, super light and fluffy, but they really need a better jam selection! It is very clean, a rare find in our experiences in nola. Service was wonderful and the coffee cups never empty! The Eggs Dumaine and Eggs Napoleon were very good and perfectly cooked!

Candied or sugared cherries ala Vatel movie

Does anyone know how to make the beautiful cherries from the movie Vatel? They are hanging on a string across a table, and Vatel dips a lovely bunch of cherries in a sugar sauce. Do you think it is a hard candy coating or a softer glaze? Any recipes or ideas?

Mardi Gras lunch at Commanders

Many thanks for the prompt to be quick! We snagged a Commanders table at high noon, and can hardly wait!

Mardi Gras lunch at Commanders

Friday before Mardi Gras lunch at Commanders sounds really fun! Does anyone know what time is best for a lunch reservation that day? Any lunch favorites there? (We've only been for dinner) Thanks!

The atmosphere! For halloween 3 years ago my husband dressed as a devil, literally red head to toe, I was dressed in a gothic/belle epoch gown of satin and grey cheesecloth with lots of real chandelier crystals in my white powdered wig. Well we had never been there before and had no idea how wonderful the decor is especially in the red room, when we walked in to that room to our table the entire room became quiet for a second, and then started clapping and laughing good naturedly- some one toasted us saying my husband matched the walls perfectly, and I matched the several chandeliers hanging in that room! All during our yummy dinner people were ditching in to get a look at us in that room. We had a wonderful experience and always go back!

Grocery store souvenirs

Many thanks for the great ideas! Most all of them are not easily found around here and will be a fresh take on our usual gifts! We are there for nine days over Mardi Gras (Yeah!) and will have time to scout out these items. How do you trick out the Arnaud's remoulade from a jar?

We love Muriels, we usually eat in the bar area which is great. There are better places for fine dining, but i'd rank it above average. The atmosphere is really a high point, and the bartenders are good. We eat there every time we visit. Great location.

Grocery store souvenirs

Can anyone think of some yummy offbeat food-stuffs especially condiments to bring home as gifts? We have already done the french quarter items for tourists and hotsauce twice, no more. We want normal daily grocery type things like creole mustard, picked watermelon rind etc. Does anyone have a "must have" pantry item that is local or even just southern? (We live in Los Angeles) I need some help! We can go anywhere to purchase things.
Thank you for your time and efforts!

Zinc counter and table tops

Does anyone have a zinc counter or table top? Do you like it? We want the patina and a distressed look.
