Best moderately priced italian in the city

For reasonably priced Italian Da Andrea is my go-to place...pretty darn inexpensive, and good quality for the price, imo.

Steeplechase in Kensington

Wanted to post a quick shout out to this place, on Ft. Hamilton in Kensington. I'm sitting here on a rainy Saturday morning, enjoying a cranberry scone from Tres Pommes (they also carry Terrace Bagels, and Balthazar pastries), and a damn good cup of pressed coffee. Zero attitude, free wifi, pleasant ambiance. So happy about this, I no longer have to trek to Park Slope for coffee...Rooting for this adorable little place.

Are there any great restaurants in Staten Island?

I had a very nice lunch once at Trattoria Romana on Hylan Blvd...pasta was cooked perfectly and I remember they had a nice wine list. Worth a look!

Sake on Church Avenue - Kensington

Finally tried Sake, I was equally impressed! So happy to have this place within walking distance...pretty sure it's not just "good sushi for the neighborhood," but good sushi, period. Thanks for the tip, I'd been reluctant to try it, but am very glad I did!

7 nights in Brooklyn

For lunch, try Ferdinando's for authentic Sicilian panelle...I also second Al Di La. Have fun and welcome to BK!

Lilla cafe

Finally made it here last night, and loved it. Started with the roasted cauliflower soup, which was delicious, and the cardoons (!), which were lightly breaded. My father's tri-tip steak was cooked to perfection, and mom's branzino was so beautifully presented--first the whole fish, baked and packed in sea salt, then cleaned and served with roasted winter vegetables. My black linguine with frutti di mare was also delicious. Overall, we all really enjoyed this place...service was earnest and friendly, and the ambiance cozy and inviting. And BYO--what's not to like?

We got a car. Where do we go?

ooh! When I lived in Queens, my husband and I used to go to La Fusta, an Argentinian steakhouse in Elmhurst. I loved the place--old school vibe, amazing shell steak. On a random side street, not at all trendy or scene-y. Now that we live in Brooklyn, I think about going back sometimes, but never do. Also, I LOVED Sapori D'Ischia--Salumeria by day, Italian restaurant by night. You'll definitely need Lulu to get you there--it's in a very industrial area in Woodside. Check it out! (And bring your Tom Tom, it's kinda hard to find ; )

Bar/lounge recs for a 35th bday party?

Hi! Years ago I used to frequent Villa Della Pace, down in the Village...somewhat rustic Italian, full bar--I remember thinking the food was good (particularly the antipasti) though I haven't been there in a while. I do remember they had a really nice room downstairs that might be perfect for a party like yours. Might be worth considering. Also, Inoteca on the LES has a nice room downstairs, and a party menu...

Girls night in parkslope/ cobble hill area

What about Fragole on Court Street? More Carroll Gardens than Park Slope, but the food's solid (I always order the tagliata, but have tried the tilapia, which I've enjoyed, and heard others swear by their gnocchi). The atmosphere's cozy and lively at the same time, and he manager, Sebastian, is a charmer. I had a girls' dinner here recently with some college friends and they loved the place.

Quinto Quarto?

Husband and I enjoyed the cacio e pepe very much on a recent lunch visit. Lovely ambiance.
