Willard's BBQ Report

Dixie Bones kicks Willards to the curb. IMHO, they have the best brisket in the area.

Gazpacho in DC

I like the gezpacho at Breadline. They only offer it when tomatoes are in season which i'm sure is soon.

I can't wait!

Rocklands - 'meh' says this Southern boy.

Everyone seems to love Urban's on this board because its the only "decent" BBQ in Maryland not because its the best BBQ in the area.

I've only been there once, but that was enough for me. Ordered a simple brisket and I got back half a great piece of meat and half a vein of inedible grizzle/fat having to surgically extract the meat to have a satisfying meal. I had this same kind of experience at Capital Q in DC, famous for hosting a visit by Bush. Also, the corn bread had corn kernels embedded in it... as if it need more corn flavor?

Conversely, if I had a brisket at Dixie Bones, and died the next day I would have no regrets. This is the only place in this area that seems to understand BBQ means putting a hunk of perfectly prepared meat inside a smoker for 12 hours.

I would like to repeat myself to combat the number of times Urban's has been recommended in this thread,

The brisket served at Dixie Bones is perfection.
IMHO of course.

Pierogis in the District?

I've had a major craving for some Pierogis, can anyone recommend a good place? I'd prefer Northwest DC, but I'm willing to take a bit of a drive if anyone knows of a good resturaunt that's inside the District.

Good Ramen, finally!

ooooo, sounds awesome!

next sunday i'm there.
