Merri-makers Catering

There are 2 different divisions of Merri Makers. The one who works with PNC, The Water's Edge and then their is M2, which is a bit higher end and they do off site catering and LBI. We used M2 for out wedding in LBI and the food was wonderful! What wasn't wonderful was our service at the end when they tried to add on a 1000 to our bill b/c they 'fogot' to add tax. Mind you we had a signed contract with them and we paid what was in the contract. They went as far as saying they would contact the local police and take us to court. We consulted a professional and our wedding planner who said by law they need to honor our contract and the threats were just horrid.
So, in the end, we paid half out of good faith. The day of, they really were great! So, it's a hot and cold review.

A hidden gem, though very casual.... is the Holiday Snack Bar in Beach Haven. It's kind of a locals only feel, bar stools and no AC; but they have THE best burgers around. They are also famous for their apple crisp, which is heaven and their cakes which are a mile high. I love Yellow Fin too, but when I am craving some 'beach food' I go there. It's super cheap and everyone I know LOVES it.

Crazies Ice Cream Rumson NJ

I think they are over priced and well I prefer Gracie and Dude's in Sea Brite over these guys.

Via 45 ~ Red Bank

My husband and I ate their on a Tuesday night for their special 2 for 54 dollars and were very pleased. The service was wonderful and the food so fresh. The only down fall was they had run out of all but one if the desserts and that sucked as I was so hoping for something really yummy. Tortufo just didn't cut it.
I loved the spices and portions were nice-sized.
Can't wait to go back!

Pop's Garage, Asbury

Very disappointed. Went there on a Saturday afternoon. Service was poor, our waitress could have cared less about us and the 'mexican' was not real mexican. We ordered salsa and it came out as pico de gala, shame it was misrepresented. When asking for a refill it took forever and they mixed my order of tacos up. My husband said it was one of the worst burittos he's ever had. It could have a cool vibe and I do like Langosta's vibe though I feel they are overpriced for their food, but man... Pop's garage really needs to improve.

Where to eat breakfast outdoors

The Kitchen Witch doesn't have a view, but their food makes up for it. Just amazing. From the pancakes which are out of this world, so the fresh smoothy bar to the BEST bacon I have ever had, just top notch, Also, they usually have a guitar player who rips and is a nice addition. Really nice guy and he just jams and does his thing.
I have to tell you, they bake their bacon and coat it with brown sugar. It's melt in your mouth to die for.
The service is just nice and they get to know you. It;s my favorite place, hands down for breakfast.

Anyone been to My Kitchen Witch's (Monmouth Beach) Friday night dinners?

My husband and I dined at their Friday night meal and just loved it. The food was great, price was so reasonable for what they offer and the atmosphere was romantic. It's a really cute out with friends, date, quiet place.
We did run into the fact that they had run out of desert and they felt horrible. They tried to make up for it by giving us a TON of take home baked goods which was very nice.
The service is down home and they get to know you. What they make in that tiny kitchen blows me away.
I do believe they will try and help out with dietary needs.
I had steak and my husband seafood. The soup we had was wonderful and I can't say enough how I can't wait to go back again!
And their breakfasts.... don't get me started, amazing. Best bacon I have ever had.

The Barn in Rumson

I have to give these guys a review. The Barn rocks! We have eaten there twice for breakfast and once for lunch and each time has been great. All the brunch items are so fresh. Their crepes are to die for. The best is the cinnamon and banana with peanut butter chips. Yum! Even their pancakes are nice and delicate. Their bacon is eh, but I am a bacon snob and really only care for baked bacon that is thick cut.
For lunch I had a cheese burger and it was melt in your mouth.
This is a family run place, kind of low key. Funky decor. After all, it's connected to a gymnastics place.
Soooo, worth checking out.

My only let down is the hot chocolate, it's just okay and the price was too high.
They really pride themselves on a variety of drinks so I am hoping they can step that up.
Overall though, it's such a nice gem in Rumson!

Cheesesteaks in Monmouth County?

I have to say. I have lived int eh Red Bank area for two years, after being a north jersey native and Willy's is VERY disappointing. The worst I'd say is the service. The three times I have tried Willy's the counter staff is young and just act like they could care less. They are unkept and have bad attitudes. The food, eh... at best. The roll should be heated and the meat is not a generous portion.
C'mon people, there is much better out there.
Willly's needs to shape up.
