30th Birthday Dinner near Castiglion Fiorentino
thank you lisa. I have been reading posts for 7 hours and my head was spinning with options. I will go buy a book I saw recommended by a few people.
30th Birthday Dinner near Castiglion Fiorentino
Would love a recomendation for dinner near the town of Castiglion Fiorentino which is 20 km from Arezzo, less than 30 minutes away, less than 200 euro for 2 people with wine. Non-touristy. rustic. Meat, pasta, fish, delicious but doesn't have to be fancy. thank you.
Rehearsal Dinner in SD area (Del Mar) for 60
Thank you, I will check both of those out!
Rehearsal Dinner in SD area (Del Mar) for 60
Thanks for the ideas. Yeah, being in Del Mar isn't a big thing, I just don't want people to have to drive really far if they are staying in Del Mar, so thats why I said within about 15 miles. But really we are open to location...probably not South of downtown though or North of Carlsbad.

We considered this and I was planning to go to the Encinitas/Carlsbad location to check out the room. Did you have a private room? The girl on the phone told me it was private but didn't have doors. I am just worried about the noise level. We want to do a slide show and toats and I want everyone to be able to hear.
Rehearsal Dinner in SD area (Del Mar) for 60
Hi, my fiance and I are looking for a place to host our rehearsal dinner. Our wedding is in Del Mar, and a lot of people will be staying there. But we don't mind it being within about 15 miles of Del Mar. We would prefer Italian. A private room is a must that can hold about 60 people (majority from the Midwest). We have already contacted Il Fornaio in Del Mar but it was too pricey. We are hoping to stay below $40/person before alcohol.
Thanks for any recommendations!!! Oh, and it's not till next July so we shouldn't have to worry about things already booked up!
Good deli in/around Laguna Niguel?
Can anyone recommend a good deli to pick up sandwiches for a work function around the Laguna Niguel area? Thanks!
San Diego - Best Food - Wedding
Congrats to both of you and I am myself in the same boat! I have been engaged about 3 weeks and have begun the venue site. Like you SRosie, we will have 75% or more out of town guests, and about 125 people. I really want a place that has an ocean front ceremony site, preferably up on cliffs or grass (like La Jolla/Del Mar area)...but now I am expanding to looking at bay hotels as well.
I looked at L'Aubergie in Del Mar. It is currently closed (until June) for renovations but they will still do a tour. They seem to be very flexible in doing whatever you want/need and the chef from their restaurant (forgot the name) does their catering...it all comes from the same kitchen. He has been on the East coast going to different restaurants getting new ideas during their renovations. This is my favorite place, but we are still figuring out or budget.
I was just looking at Paradise Point online last night and it looks very nice. Let me know what you think when you go look. Their menu looked very good.
Does anyone have experience with the food at Estancia in La Jolla? This is another place I have considered. I heard the food might not be good though.
Visiting Phoenix... rec's for dinner Tuesday night?
thanks everyoone! I am going to print this off and let my group look at it and decide tomorrow!
Visiting Phoenix... rec's for dinner Tuesday night?
Hi, we are going to Phoenix this week for the Fiesta Bowl. We are staying near the Metro Center (mall?) at the Four Points Sheraton. We would like to find somewhere tastey to eat for dinner the day we are arriving. Driving up to around 15-20 miles is fine. We love sushi, but any recommendations would be great. Also it will be New Years Day night so I'm not sure if smaller places will be open. Thanks!!!
Cupcakes in the Los Angeles area
Yes Crumbs is so yummy!!!
I tried the cranberry orange cupcake today from Sprinkles. It is a special flavor for Thanksgiving. It was delicious!

Where to stay in San Diego to be near good food?
I ate at the Pacific Fish Co. and was very disappointed and I am not very picky. I think even the touristy Fish Market across the street is better. I agree about Oceanaire, it is on of my favorites! The crabcakes are amazing!!! One of my favorite dishes ever. I also agree about extraordinary desserts...they have very yummy desserts, and 2 or 3 kinds of hot chocolate which are excellent too!
Need some Santa Barbara recs...
Thanks for the recs everyone. We had a great weekend in Santa Barbara! We ended up getting in pretty late Friday and so decided to check out the La Super Rica that I had read about on here. We ordered it and took it to our room to eat. I had the pork and cheese between two tortillas and a dover sole tamale. Both were excellent!!! We only wish we had ordered a bit more!
On Saturday we watched the game at the Santa Barbara Brewery. They were very nice about turning the channle to our game and we had some good food (pizza and grilled chicken sandwich with avocado). Our bed and breakfast served a hot breakfast delivered to our room, which was very tastey so we just watched the chargers game in our room and then went to the Santa Barbara Shellfish Co. on the pier. I had clam chowder which was EXCELLENT and a small california spiny lobster, which was fantastic as well. My boyfriend had their special of the day, lobster tacos and he liked them a lot too, although he wouldnt stop eating my clam chowder!
Thanks again for the recs. and to others who posted about these places elsewhere on chowhound!
Need some Santa Barbara recs...
I am going for a little weekend getaway this weekend to Santa Barbara with my boyfriend. This will be our first time in Santa Barbara. On Saturday evening (5:00) we need to find somewhere to hang out, have some drinks and dinner and watch our football team. It doesnt have to be some loud crazy sports bar, I'd rather be able to hear the game. But it does need to be somewhere that has ESPN game package, b/c it's on ABC regional. Any ideas?
Also need somewhere to watch the Chargers Sunday that would serve some decent breakfast/brunch. And somewhere for a romantic, delicious dinner for Friday night.
We are staying at a B&B near State st. but we will have a car, but would prefer to walk.
Thanks!!!
Gelato in Irvine?
I have been searching online and haven't had any luck. I am craving gelato but don't want to drive really far! Thanks!
Need help! Graduation dinner, party of 20 in SD
Ok so now the plans have changed and I need more advice! We have decided to do dinner the night of my graudation at a sit down restaurant with just family, about 12 people. The night before we are going to do something with everyone, around 25 people.
I am looking for something that isn't too expensive and more casual, and with a private room so people can get up and mingle around. Any suggestions? Most people are staying in Carlsbad, but location isn't that big of a deal. Thanks!!!
Need help! Graduation dinner, party of 20 in SD
I am graduating in December and will have about 20 people (many from out of town) here for the event. The graduation is on a Sunday and we want to do a dinner that night. I need help figuring out what to do. I would love something with a view, but I know that is hard to find with also good food. Price is flexible, just no Mr.A's...or something that expensive. I would prefer somewhere with a private room or at least somewhere that could easily accomodate 20 people. Type of food is also flexible, just no Indian or Thai. It will be December 16 so I know I need to make plans soon with Christmas parties and all.
The other option would be to rent a space and get food from Whole Foods or a catering company...any ideas for this?
Thanks in advance!
Breakfast help in Irvine
I moved to Irvine a few months ago and have not found a good breakfast place. I live near the Marketplace and am looking for just a drive-thru breakfast burrito place that is close by. It doesn't have to be the best in the world, just decent. I moved from San Diego and they are on every corner there!
I am also in search of a good sit down breakfast place (omletes, pancakes..normal breakfast stuff) for the weekends. I have been to Plum's and Pacific Whey in Newport, but I would like to find somewhere closer. IHOP is near me, but I am hoping there is something besides that!!!
Thanks!!
6th Annual Dine Out
Is anyone familiar with the restaurants on the Orange County list? I just moved to Orange County and have never heard of any of them. Thanks!
Vanilla Bake Shop... a small protest for a small cupcake
This is my first chowhound post and I just had to share my experience at Vanilla Bakeshop. I have only been to Yummy in Burbank and Sprinkles before. I really enjoyed Vanilla. I bought a regular size Key Lime and it was very good. I bought six of the small ones: Pumpkin, Meyers Lemon Rasberry, Vanilla Bean, Chocolate Peanut Butter, Mom's Birthday, and Red Velvet. They were all very good. I ate the chocolate Peanut Butter (my favorite flavor usually) right when I got in the car. It was delicious, although I think I like Sprinkles Chocolate Peanut Butter better because they put chocolate chips in the peanut butter cake. The Vanilla Bean icing was very buttery but in a good way. While I know many on here have different opinions, I love my cupcakes very sweet. I hate when the icing just tastes like whipped cream. These hit the spot and I highly recommend it! Luckily I live in Orange County or I'd be there way to often!
