We made it back safe and sound and had a Wonderful time! I'll give you a run down of some of the places we ate at. We started out our adventure by getting donuts at the Harrison Bakery in Harrison Ohio. They have the best donuts! Light and fluffy! We bought enough for 2 mornings for breakfast. Next stop lunch in Effingham, IL at a place called Niemerg's Steak House. Truly a home cooking restaruant. Looked like all the locals were there. Real roasted Turkey and mashed potatoes. Very good! Only disappointment is the dressing looked like the stovetop variety. That night we stayed at the Isle of Capri Hotel and Casino in Booneville Mo. We ate at their buffet which featured prime rib that night. The prime rib was very good as was the shrimp both fried and boiled but the rest of the buffet was a dissapointment! The next morning we ate our not so fresh donuts but still ok and headed on down the road. We ate lunch at Salina, Ks at Bayard's Cafe right off the express way. We each had a really good cheeseburger with fried onions and the bun was toasted. Very tasty! My Mom had the vegtable soup and she laughed because all it had in it was cabbage and maybe one potatoe. That night we stayed in Goodland, Ks and had some great pizza at the Flying J Truck Stop! We don't usually stop at truck stops but this pizza was made fresh and recomended by one of the locals. Again very good. The whole trip we had very good food! Have to go for now I will finish writing about the rest of our journey later on. ----- Steak House Isle of Capri |

16th Street Mall lunch choice in Denver Colorado Thank you everyone for all your help! I really appreciate it! |

16th Street Mall lunch choice in Denver Colorado Yes, they are definitely into Mom and Pop type restaurants. Good home cooking with reasonable prices. Sit down restaurants. If it was just my husband and myself going it would be a whole different ball game. |

16th Street Mall lunch choice in Denver Colorado Sounds like a wonderful deal! Probably wouldn't make it for happy hour though. Possible lunch prospect. |

16th Street Mall lunch choice in Denver Colorado I am traveling in a few weeks with my 79 and 83 year old parents from Cincinnati to Las Vegas NV. I had read about the 16th Street Mall in Denver Colorado and it sounded interesting to me. Is there a restaurant in the area that you could recommend for lunch. Nothing fancy just good food that is reasonably priced. ----- |

I am assuming you are pulling for the Cardinals? It has been a long time since Cincinnati has been this excited about a ball club. Naturally we are hoping they remain in first place but, they sure are giving us heart attacks here! With the last 3 losses in Colorado and the the 2 losses in St louis. Go Red Legs! Anyhow thanks for the Ste Genevieve suggestion. I am hoping to go over some of the recomendations soon with my parents. |

Have any of you been to Jamesport, Mo and is it worth a drive through? |

Thank you! The menu looks Great! |

Thank you! That is very nice of you to add Co and Utah to the list. I know this research thing takes alot of time but I truly do appreciate the suggestions. You are probably right about IL. Actually you sent a suggestion in IL that has caught my attention. Depending on which way we go we could hit it right to eat at The Farmers Restaurant and Bakery. Unless we would decide to go to Hannibal, Mo then we might need a reccomendation for IL for -I72. Still in the pre planning stage. Again many thanks! I am also reading and researching books, internet and anything else I can get a hold of for ideas for the trip. I love doing this kind of thing but, it does take alot of time and effort. Everyones suggestions has saved me countless hours of preperation. |

Well I think I have just about all of the states covered except for Illinois and Colorado on I-70. I will check out the blogs on this website. Thanks for all of your recomendations. I appreciate your time and effort giving me this information. |

Thanks for the comments on Hannibal. Yes, we are on the fence about Hannibal. Thought it might be a pretty river town with lots of nice shops, old homes and some nice places to eat. Having never been there before I looked at the towns webcam and websites and I am having second thoughts. |

Thanks for the information, it sounds great, unfortunately when I looked up the website for the Brookville Hotel it said they where closed on Monday and Tuesday and I believe that is the time frame we will be going through that area. I do have it written down though just in case we are delayed. Thank you so very much! I really do appreciate the suggestion. |

I will be driving across country with my parents ages 79 and 83 in October. We will be traveling from Cincinnati, Oh to Las Vegs, Nv mostly on I-70. On the return trip we will be traveling mostly on I-40. I need your help finding restaraunts on theses large interstates, that are not fast food chains, but just good old fashion Mom and Pop's where the local's eat. We are not opposed to driving some distance off the express way to get a nice meal. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. |
