Lunch in Denver ???

If you're good for a late Italian lunch perhaps Crimson Canary might hit the spot (http://www.crimsoncanarydenver.com/). Great happy hour that starts at 3 pm! Got great reviews in our local weekly rag (http://www.westword.com/2012-01-19/re...). On my visit the lasagna was excellent!

Looking for Asian fish market in Denver/Boulder area

Might want to try Pacific Mercantile downtown Denver (http://www.pacificeastwest.com/). It's a Japanese grocery with a small slice to order sashimi-grade fish case. Also on the south side of town in Aurora is H-mart which is a giant Korean / Pan-Asian grocery that has full service fresh fish case similar to Pacific Ocean but also a variety of packaged sashimi-grade seafood (http://www.hmart.com/). H-mart is great for a Korean food destination combined with shopping. In addition to Korean, Aurora is also chock full of great ethnic foods (e.g. south Indian, Ethiopean, and more).

Has anyone tried Cholon in Denver? Thoughts or suggestions for dishes/ to get?

We went last week for lunch. Ambiance was really nice and service was smooth; must have worked out the kinks a little since rlm was there. We ordered a variety of small plates to share. Our favorite was the Shrimp Cake with Nuoc Cham and Lettuce (although the nuoc cham was more limey then I was used to). We also liked the Chili Crab Roll (like a goi cuon / spring roll); the roll was stuffed with a crab salad made with the rice noodle rather than the traditional goi cuon. But it was good! Also liked the Gruyere soup dumpling. And the Pan Fried Catfish was a nicely seasoned dish! We also ordered the Green Curry: broth was thinner than traditional Thai curry and the vegetable were grilled before being combined with the broth for a great smokey curry!

All in all lunch was pretty good! But it's a different experience than going to Saigon Bowl on Federal and Alameda and you'll pay accordingly. Apparently the restaurant started offering happy hours the day we went: drinks specials but no food specials yet.

Lunch spots in Westminster & Arvada

Thanks Todd! I looked them up on Yelp and one of the poster indicated that Golden Bowl is owned by the same folks who owned Pho Van on Federal in Denver a few years back. If so their rice noodle soups (i.e. rice noodle in a pork broth) was better then pho when I tried them. So that, in addition the bo kho you mentioned, might be good dishes to try.

Thai House on 80th + Sheridan is a great place for Thai lunch. It has good lunch combo in the $6.50-$7.50 range. Dinner is great too! But the portion is smaller than it used to be before it moved to this location.

Todd, is the new Vietnamese restaurant on the Safeway or the Pacific Ocean Market side?

Korean in Aurora

I've been going to Sae Jong Kwan which is across from Hmart on the north side of Yale (next to Fascinations). Sae Jong Kwan offers grills but will also grill meat in the back and bring it to your table. Their bulgogi, kalbi, kim chi jigae, and small side dishes have been excellent. And also liked their stir fried squid in chile sauce. They used to have egg-dipped pan-fried oyster but no more since it was "too much work." The food quality seem to be on the same level or better than Seoul BBQ -- and slightly cheaper too.
