Unique LA/OC Restaurants/Sushi Places

Not a bad option. I drive past this every day on my way to and from work so I think I may have over looked it lol. HH probably isnt the best bday event, but I will keep it in mind. Thanks! Any other good suggestions?

Best LONG BEACH restaurant.

Although I cant comment too much on 555, I wouldnt refer to any of those other places as "hip" or extraordinary - sure theyre fancy and pricey, but id choose something with atmostphere over any of those places. L'Opera is a really nice Italian restaurant, but Ive had much better in more quaint and personal enviroment - i.e. Cucina Picarelli and Roman's Cucina both have amazing italian food and an adorable interior and service. Kings Fish house is OK. Nice date place but I wouldnt consider it for a special occasion like a birthday, though the food was good.

Best LONG BEACH restaurant.

Another place is the Madison in downtown - Ive always wanted to go there - very pricey but its like walking into another time era. The building is just beautiful inside. Definately a special occasion restaurant.

Best LONG BEACH restaurant.

Im not at all familiar with any of the place you previously went to, but I am familiar with Long Beach :)

A really cool place would be to eat on the Queen Mary. I love that boat! I believe the Restaurant is called Sir Winstons. Probably pretty pricey, but being on the boat is pretty awesome. If nothing else, you can go for after dinner drinks at their observation bar. Always fun to take a look around.

Next to the Queen Mary is The Reef and Hotel Maya - both different feels... the food is pretty good, the view is unbeatable as you look upon the LB skyline.

Tantalums is a pretty great place. The food is wonderful and unique. Its located in a stripmall, but once you walk in you are transformed into another world. Their restaurant sits on the harbor and their bar faces the water. Great for sunsets!

The Sky Room is located near downtown and sits at the top of a sky scraper - fancy, great views, pricey, but pretty neat.

If youre looking for more casual but on the beach - La Palapa and Belmont Brewing Company are both great local options :)

For whatever reason thats all I can think of off the top of my head - there is sooo much in long beach... if you have more questions or more specifics I can work off of, let me know, Id be happy to help!

Unique LA/OC Restaurants/Sushi Places

So I know this is a bit broad... let me give you a little background as to what I am searching for :)

Im taking this boy out for his bday (which happens to be on a tuesday - wa wa waa). We've only been dating 2 months so nothing to extravagent, but something a little nicer than normal date status. That being said Im looking for a dinner place that is a little unique... e.g Bonaventure Brewing is cool because of the beer, patio, and ambience being in the middle of downtown LA (but we've both been there so not an option).... found a place called La Cave in costa mesa which seems cool because its underground, red lighting, swanky entertainment but its pretty pricey....So you can see im just looking for something a little different, one could say "special" :)

We're located in Long Beach, so anywhere within reasonable driving distance to either LA or OC on a Tuesday after work would be doable.

How does the sushi come into this? Well... he loves it and I dont haha - so I thought it would be nice to take him to something that would be for him. Im sure I can find some non-sushi food on a menu, right? But so if any of you also know of any unique (shark tanks? great ocean view? something with an x factor) that is a sushi place, I would also consider that as well.

Oh, price... I guess moderate? $40-$60 for two sounds reasonable? Preferably less if I could swing it lol :)

Thanks!
