McMillan's Bakery on Haddon Ave. in New Jersey has the Best Cream Donuts I have tasted

I have to agree totally with this posting. I live close to the Holmesburg Bakery in Northeast Philadelphia, who make outstanding Cream Donuts. I would have said that Holmesburg was the best, until I went to McMillan's. They are good enough for the trip to NJ.

Looking for great meatballs

I love the meatballs at Ralph's on 9th Street. I make my own based on the recipe from their cookbook. I tried the meatballs at ( http://marabellameatballco.com/ ) Marabella Meatball company and was disappointed. I got their sampler of the various recipes. The only one that I was inpressed was was their vegitarian meatball, yes I realize the irony of that. The rest of the their meatballs were average at best.

Best Cupcakes coming to Philadelphia

I love Brown Betty's cupcakes. There a few good cupcake places in Philadelphia. But they will all be blown out of the water the moment that Crumbs Bakery opens in Philadelphia. It is slated to be opening at 133 S 18th Street near Rittenhouse Square, which between Sansom and Walnut. There is no set date yet.

Pastry or Breakfast in Langhorne, Trevose, Bensalem

The best cinnamon buns and sticky buns. There are a few locations and they are all in the general vacinity of your spot. http://fritzsbakery.com/locations

Best Wings in Philly?

I really love the smoked wings fro Sweet Lucy's Barbecue. They are very moist but firm but not crisp.

Anything good near Parx Casino?

Nothing good anywhere near Parx. There is an Outback, Hooters, Carabbas, Chili's, Nifty Fifty's. NOTHING worth eating. Eat before you go.

ISO Best French Onion Soup in the Center City

I had the French Onion Soup at the Capitol Grill and it was the best that I ever had. I enjoyed it more them my steak and that was a damn good steak!

Gourmet Caramel in Philadelphia?

I made these salted caramel from a recipr posted on CH. They were great and people were asking where I bought them.

coventry deli - flavored oatmeal

Coventry Deli's oatmeal is addictive. I don't know how they make it, but it is exceptional. I roam around all over the city for work and when ever a co-worker mentions oatmeal, we drive all the way down to 20th and Market.

Pumpple Cake?

It sounded like fun. It was either going to be amazingly good or amazingly bad. Well I think it was bad. I never liked the icing from the Flying Monkey. It seems to me to be a bit tasteless and lardy. The chocolate cake wasn't good and the vanilla cake was ok. The apple pie was ok and the pumpkin pie was a bit too spicey. All in all it was funny just to bring this home to the kids,, but I was disappointed.

Kennebunkport in March

My wife and I will be staying at the Captain Lord Mansion in Kennebunkport for our 20th anniversary. We are looking for casual dining while in town. Aren't some of the restaurants seasonal? Please recommend the places that you like the most.

Thank

Gallo's Burger Bar

Gallo's Seafood has been around for as long as I can remember. It is the typical deep fried seafood place, but recently that added a great choice. Gallo's added a burger bar which has a seperate entrance from the seafood restaurant. The burgers were great. I would put them up against any other burgers. Out of habit, my teen aged son ordered a double cheese burger and he could not get his jaw around it. The service was great, the room nicely decorated in a retro 60's rat pack bar, and the food was great. Give it a shot, you will be very pleased.

Rosey's BBQ in Jenkintown

We stopped by Rosey's last night had had a good meal, not great. I had the ribs, which were tastey but a bit dry. Their sause was good, better then Sweet Lucy's. Lucy's ribs are better but their sause is week. Rosey's ribs wer falling off the bone, but dry.

My wife had The Crunchy Spicey chicken sandwich which she really liked. Th cole slaw was very good. I enjoyed the meal but will stick to Sweety Lucy's only because it is closer to home.

best burger in philly

I actually love the Good Dog Burger at Good Dog on 15th Street between Walnut and Locust. Thick burger with carmalized onions and rochefort cheese, served on a wonderful roll. It is serves with potatoes and sweet potatoe fries. Very VEry Good.

New Paesanos in Italian Market - the Panelle

I have been to both locations. The new location is roomy with seating for maybe 25. They even have a lovely waitress. I ordered the meatloaf parm. It was very thick, with a lot of melted cheese, served on a kaiser roll. It was over done: too thick and too much cheese. The location is going to be a pain in the ass, try finding a place to park on any day, but the room is nice. As long as the original sandwiches are as good as from the original location you will all be very happy. I just wasn't impressed with the meatloaf.

Black Angus Steakhouse

I was driving down South Street last night and noticed that a Black Angus Steakhouse moving into a storefront a few doors up from Downey's. I have heard about this franchise, but don't know if it is any good. Is it just another version of Outback, Texas roadhouse or Sizzler?

Good Cheesesteaks near Kimmel Center?

I was thinking of where to send someone for a cheesesteak near the Kimmel and I forgot about Rick's. Thats the sad part, now that it's out of the Reading Terminal, it's easy to forget about. Rick does make a great steak and I am glad that you reminded me of it.

Percy Street Barbecue

I stopped by Percy Street for some take out. I brought back a whole chicken, ribs, and sausage. I couldn't make out the rubs used and the chicken and ribs tasted a bit gamey. Their sause wasn't anything to write home about. I was far from impressed. I don't think I will be heading back.

I like Sweet Lucy's in NE Philly. Even though I am not a huge fan of Lucy's sause, their meats are great without it. That is the true test of good BBQ, how does it taste before the sause goes on.

Haines Pork Store

Has anyone heard of or shopped at this place? Some one recommended it to me, but considering that is a bit of a drive from Philly I am not convinced.

Old Fashioned Sticky Buns

I love getting up early Sunday morning for a fast ride to Croyden for some Sticky Buns from Fritz's. They also opened up a second location near the Oxford Valley Mall. These are the best I have ever had, but in all honesty I have never had a need or reason to try the others that are listed.

Got Crabs?

I want to put together a crab feast at work in a few weeks. A friend suggested that it would be significantly easier to just buy 2 bushels of cooked and seasoned crabs, rather then live crabs. We are located in Center City Philadelphia, but would be more then happy to drive into NJ or DE to get them, as long as they are good. Any suggestions?

Why can't we get a Wegman's in Philly?

I wish that we could get a Wegman's in Philadelphia. I am in NE Philly and have to go to Cherry Hill in order to shop at Wegman's. I would do mopst of my shopping there if it was closer, but it is not practical to do this. I run over there if I need top quality meats, but thats it. It was also announced that all Wegman's cut their prices across the board. We ned one here!!!!

Onion Rings

Where can I find the best onion rings in Philadelphia. This is hardly a gourmet favorite, but I love them. I can't seem any that are better then what you can find inthe frozen isle at Sam's Club.

Best Cupcakes in Philadelphia?

I went to the Flying Monkey today at the suggestion of a few. My wife, daughter and I were all very disappointed. I will stick with the Cupcakes Gourmet in Frazer and Brown Betty's.

Best Cupcakes in Philadelphia?

The best cupcakes I have found in the region is out in Frazer. They are amazing!!!

USDA Prime Meats

Are there any butcher shops in the Philadelphia area that you can get USDA Prime meat? Prime is usually reserved for restaurants and the best you can get at most butchers or supermarkets is USDA Choice.

Lunch in Philadelphia

I will be attending a function a Temple University on Friday, November 2nd. I would like to take my family out to lunch after the ceremony. I would prefer not to head into center city traffic, but will for the right spot. I am not interested in to formal of a place nor a burger place or dump. Something moderately upscale and relatively casual. One place that popped into mind was Jack's Firehouse.

Any sggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Butter cake..Northwood bakery

The buttercake at Hesh's on the 7700 block of Castor avenue is very good. While you are there, get a loaf of the chocolate chip pound cake. I also think that at buttercake at Fritz's Bakery in Croyden is good, very wet. Bring home their excellent cinnamon rolls, you will be addicted.
