My top 5 favorite restaurants:

Sadly, two of my very favorite restaurants of all time are gone now. One was Westwood, California's "Sabiru". The other was located in the redwoods of Northern California~ the in-house lodge restaurant at the Hartsook Inn. The loss of each of these eateries is just terribly sad. So I suppose that if I were to choose among places that are still open, the list would look like....1. Chez Melange (South Bay, CA) 2. Brennan's Restaurant (New Orleans) 3. Crane Sushi (Alhambra, CA) 4. Carmine's Italian Restaurant (Pasadena, CA) 5. Fifth place is a tie between King Taco and Cactus Taqueria- both are classic Los Angeles mexican hangouts (East LA & Hollywood). Honorable mentions, in honor of truly great comfort food, should go to Alhambra favorites "The Diner on Main" and "Top Baguette". Oh dear! I nearly forgot about the sandwiches at Bay Cities in Santa Monica. Now THAT is a great lunch. And I'm realizing as I write this that omitting the South Bay's El Pollo Inca would be ridiculous. How does one choose only five restaurants? This is impossible!
