Good Chinese in the Mission?
I order from wild pepper ALL the time! I live in Potrero and it is one of the few places that delivers out here. Love the General chicken and the Honk Kong Style Crispy noodles.... So yummy! They will also do some dishes that are not on the menu like Salt and pepper crispy tofu.

ISO - Red Velvet Cupcakes!
i know this sounds crazy, but I recently had the most delicious Red Velvet Cupcake at Starbucks! I was super surprised because usually, I don't like the baked goods from their, but I tried it and it was really good. I have seen them at the Potrero location as well as the one on in the Outer Richmond.

Thanks..... sounds like these might be more up our alley ;)
mission between 2nd and 3rd?
Is there anything in the less expensive price range in this area? Nothing to fancy, just good hardy authentic food.
Shin Toe Bul Yi
So my friend took me to this place called Shin Toe Bul Yi:
Category: Korean
Neighborhood: Parkside
2001 Taraval Street
(between 30th Ave & 31st Ave)
San Francisco, CA 94116
(415) 566-9221
And I am in love! The fried chicken there is OH SO GOOD! I also really enjoyed the tofu stew. The onion pancake was to die for, and the sauce for it was awesome! Not to mention all the other little goodies they bring out for you. Nice Chile pickled yumminess! Went on a thursday about 7, 7:30 there was only one party ahead of us ;)
I can't wait to go back! One of my fav's so far!

mission between 2nd and 3rd?
Unfortunately.... nowhere yet ;( I can never find parking when I pick my friend up from the Gallery so we ended up at little star last week. That was the first parking spot I found! I almost went to Town Hall Thursday, but I'm afraid I'm going to have to wait on that one for a real special occasion considering my "new budget" ;)
going to shoot for Yank Sing tomorrow! That looks super tasty!
mission between 2nd and 3rd?
Thanks so much for the suggestions, going to check out the menus and hit one tonight ;)
mission between 2nd and 3rd?
Want to grab food downtown. We will be on mission between 2nd and 3rd. Near the SF camera work gallery. Something yummy, not too pricy and easy access. Any suggestions?
thanks in advance ;)
best fried chicken in san francisco
Just ate at the front porch on thursday, Loved the the atmosphere. Service was great. The chicken was tasty. Not your typical straight forward fried chicken. It had a lemon flavor to it which was a pleasant surprise. The dishes there have a kinda of a hip twist. My friend and I ordered the Miss Ollies fried chicken in a bucket w/ coconut red beans and dirty rice. I didn't really like the sides ;(
My friend also ordered the frisee and house cured bacon salad w/ soft boiled eggs and commercial crusted fried oysters. She loved it!
And we had plantains.
All for about $60
I think I'll stick to Hard knox for my usual soul food / fried chicken cravings! A little more up my alley for fried chicken.
I'll save Front porch for more special occasions, and only order the chicken.

I want to re-discover dinning in L.A.
The pizza here looks really good, especially the crispy crust.
I am looking for some really good minestrone soup, pasta, ravioli, gnocchi dishes.

Also used to love going to the Alcove and the coffee table for breakfast. Are they still hood favorites? Any good Breakfast spots in the 909?
Thanks in advance ;)

Thanks for the response. Great blog too! I will be between Alta Loma (909) and Los Angeles (323) and can always try to make a special trip for a special meal ;)
I am also close to Claremont and Upland.
I have not been to Japan Town (L.A.) for a very long time. I'm looking for great tempura (has to stay crispy, not into soggy temp.) Good Yakitori, Udon noodles, yummy miso, fresh ingredients and really good tuna rolls (not for me but my parents love sushi!)
Thanks again ;)
When you say South Bay, where exactly is that?
I want to re-discover dinning in L.A.
checked out the menu for La Serenata Garibaldi and it looks fabulous! Going to make it a point to hit this spot! Thanks for the tip! The real test for me will be the enchiladas, rice, beans, and salsa!
I want to re-discover dinning in L.A.
I am originally from the Los Angeles area but I have been living in San Francisco for the last 3 years. I am here for 10 days and I am trying to figure out if there are any new spots I must try before I head back.
There are very few Mexican restaurants that meet my taste buds in S.F. so I would love to have some really good mexican food while I am here. I used to love going to El Compadre in Echo park, and El Chavo in Silverlake. Are they still worth it?
Looking for some good Japanese and Italian food. Used to love Netty's in Silverlake, but I heard it was no longer there. Also used to like Osteria Nonni in Atwater.
Anything new I should check out? Either in the L.A. or 909 areas?
Thanks in advance ;)
best fried chicken in san francisco
I love Hard Knox! I frequent it often, partly because i work and live in the area. I also love love love the mac and cheese! The mashed potatoes are a little to peppery for my taste. Collard greens are prepared very well (so i've heard, not a fan myself) But the fried chicken is really good! Also, great corn bread muffins! YUMMM!
Best Sweet and Savory crepes in SF?
Great... I think I will take them to Ti Couz. Thanks!
Best Sweet and Savory crepes in SF?
Well I have been to The Crepe House on Polk, The Crepe Vine in the Castro and Squat and Gobble Cafe also in The Castro. All were pretty tasty from what I remember. Have not yet been to Ti Couz. My parents don't have many options for crepes in their area other than IHOP ;(
so I want to take them to a place where they can have the ultimate crepe experience.

Where can I find the best sweet and savory crepes in SF? My parents are coming to town on Tuesday and my mom wants to have crepes when she is here! I have read some good things about Ti Couz, but wanted my fellow chow's opinions.

Any ideas for Good Eats around the Monterey Bay Aquarium?
Taking our first trip out to Monterey on Monday. Going to spend the day at the Aquarium.
Looking for a nice place to have an inexpensive lunch and a place to have a nice Birthday dinner for 2. Dinner can either be near the aquarium or somewhere between Monterey and San Francisco. But it should be somewhat special or at least "cute" and of course tasty. Veggie friendly would be great. I eat chicken, turkey, no red meat. My guest... no meat, fish, and lots of veggies!
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.
Any idea's where to find shaved ice with condensed milk and fruit toppings?
Just got back from monster desserts in San Bruno and it was awesome! Even though it's located in the mall, I enjoyed my strawberry and mango shaved iced very much! The actually put the shaved ice, some condensed milk, then more shaved ice, the fruit and then more condensed milk. My friend got the avocado and jack fruit. I tasted the jack fruit, which I had never tried before. Very tasty. I was a little leery of the avocado, but my friend enjoyed it! Thanks for the suggestion!
Favorite Dive Bar in SF..
Specs Bar ( Really cool place, with good vibe. make sure to order the "fancy" cheese plate : )
Bender's Bar ( cool bar, although I was disappointed with the fried pickles ;( but we weren't really there to eat ;)
Casanova Lounge: cool vibe, good jukebox, strong drinks and dark inside!
Corn muffins in San Francisco
i love the corn muffin's at Hard Knox (I frequent the one in the dog patch) Not sure if they are the NYC style you are looking for, but these are yummy!
S.F. New York Deli turkey pastrami
Going to check out Ancronico's and Molinari's this week, I'll let you know what I find. Thanks all!
S.F. New York Deli turkey pastrami
No the brand does not matter. My cousin picked some up for me at Riley's market that was actually sliced nice and thin from the butcher! It's really really good! Riley's is pretty far from me though ;(
I did find one brand at Whole Foods. I can't remember the brand, but I did not like it as much as the one from Riley's or S.F. NY deli!
I'm still looking!
Any idea's where to find shaved ice with condensed milk and fruit toppings?
This looks really cool! I am so there this weekend! I'll let you know as soon as I try it!
