Restaurants I haven't heard about lately

I went to the one in St. Paul and thought it was pretty so-so. It was cooked well (medium rare), but my friend I went with was raving about how good their burgers are.

Using Meat Past Expiration

That's what I do with dairy, too. God forbid you drink the milk the next day -- GASP -- six hours later!!

I still haven't made it out there, but sounds like whoever wrote up the menu did their job to sell the dishes.

single best pizza in MSP/ No Time To Research Chow Archives

If you get down to the southwest suburbs, Gina Maria's (http://www.realpizza.com, the pizza is way better than the web design) has three locations (Eden Prairie, Chanhassen, Glen Lake) and is really good for out here. Not sure how it measures up to the Cities stuff, but it's way better to order there than the chains.

S.O.S. (shit on a shingle)

Grandpa Bob was adamant for the chipped beef after he got out of The Service. He bitched and moaned about SOS, but still showed me it was delicious.

Nothing but stuffing ...

That is actually a really good idea. Mayhaps I'll nudge my father this way this year. Thanks!

Oh weird. We used to go there. I'll have to pop into this new place.

MSP - Who's got the best mac and cheese?

Haha, I'll be on the lookout for all you when I next go there, then. And I'm intrigued by the pork-o-rama, too. If it's us curing hangovers, it's usually three or four, so sounds good to me!

Did it take over Timber Lodge?

Tim McKee....and Il Gatto?

I think City Pages just did a piece on Tim McKee about this

S.O.S. (shit on a shingle)

I agree -- it's breakfast so you can work off whatever throughout the day!

Agreed on both fronts. SOS was a childhood favorite and I just started doing biscuits and gravy -- delicie-o-so!

MSP - Who's got the best mac and cheese?

What is the non-pork-o-rama? I love meat, but appreciate a good veggie/vegan meal when it's done well.

MSP - Who's got the best mac and cheese?

Cool. We've only gone to shows and gotten hangover remedy breakfast there before. I'll try and remember next time I'm there!

I'd have never thought of Triple Rock for that. I'm intrigued and skeptical at the same time.

I grew up near there and recently moved back. What else would you recommend?

Where can I get Juniper berries?

I was curious about this and my Googling brought me to this thread. Thanks for the link!

World Street Kitchen

Shoot - I was just there on Friday afternoon! I'm back there next week so I'll try and track it down. Thanks, man.

What's good along Hwy 52?

Hey, if a recommendation gets caps twice, I'm down to try it! I might be down around there in October.

Where can I find fresh yeast?

I will check this when I go to my Cub... I didn't even know they had it!

I just bookmarked a few of those. Thanks! That place in Pepin seems realistic for a drive...that whole river / bluffs area is awesome.

Reuben sandwich - searching for "The One"

Awesome. I'll have to see if we can stop in along the way the next time!

Brewery Tours around the Twin Cities

Yeah, we've done the Summit tour and we put in for a reservation. They also give you a few free beers at the in-house bar afterwards to try anything seasonal that you might not have had.

Are these two right on the, or near, the main I-94 drag? We drive through Hudson every time we go to the cabin in western Wisconsin...

Twin Cities street food

I think last week's City Pages also had something. Here, I found the online one: http://www.citypages.com/2010-09-08/r.... It's still at some news stands; I just saw one today.

Has anyone been to Red Stag SupperClub (NE Mpls)?

Thanks, Brad. I'll check that out too!

Has anyone been to Red Stag SupperClub (NE Mpls)?

Ahh, that makes sense. Yeah, we were riding around and nobody wanted to carry around leftovers, so that helped.

I'd love to try that duck and the aforementioned fish fry -- sounds promising.

The service was great, though: first at the bar for two rounds of drinks, then the server that dealt with us nine or 10 guys all ordering different stuff, drinks, etc. I enjoyed it, but again, I stuck with the casual pasta and it's hard to mess that up.
