Le Creuset enamel never cleans! PLEASE HELP! I am not sure if the following will work in your case. For white enamel pots and saucepans, I have removed (most) staining by bringing water with a generous amount of bicarb soda to the boil for a minute or two. Once cool, a standard wash removed a lot of discolouration. |

I ate at LPW a couple of years ago and loved it. I have tried to go again twice and they have lost my reservation both times. I have also read this happening to some others so please check the reservation and remember who took your reservation. |

Singapore: Tiong Bahru Bakery - Anyone been? Be prepared to wait. It is incredibly popular and queues 30 pax long are common, even at 8:00am which is pretty early in a Singapore cafe context. For me, the pastries and bread are OK but not phenomonal however a close friend in the industry can't get enough. |

Penang, Malaysia - Transfer Road Roti Canai They have a tendancy to under-cook the roti in order to get them out quickly. My first visit was sensational however on repeat visits have learnt that you need to ask for a well cooked and crispy roti. |

124 Pyidaungsu Yeiktha Str. which is not too far (via taxi) from the National Museum. |

BBQ Street is located on 19th street in Chinatown and consists of approx 20 shops (with indoor seating as well as street tables) serving charcoal BBQ food. As expected in Chinatown, flavours tend towards Chinese flavours, though more mainland in this case. Various non-grilled dishes are available. Bottles of Johnnie Walker seem to be the drink of choice for a long evening camped on plastic tables eating freshly grilled food on a stick by the road. What could be better? Ordering is straightforward - you are given a small basket to place your selected items in, prior to grilling and table delivery. Mandarin will do otherwise. |

Feel Myanmar is a lunch-time only restaurant (well, no dinner anyway) that appears to be pretty popular with the local population. It is very easy order as this is done by pointing at bains marie style offerings and pre-plated dishes inside the restaurant as well as what appear to be stand-alone hawker-style stalls in the covered verandah and external dining area. The random salad dishes we ordered were fantastic and the highlight of the meal. I do not really know what was in them but they were tasty. The meal comes with masses of rice, a bowl of soup and a large plate of assorted local vegetables, so be careful not to order too much. The broad range of food has Indian, Cantonese, Malay, Thai...... flavours and from my limted experience, this looks like it is reflective of the cuisine of the country. |

Nico's has a sensibly limited menu producing quality food of a standard welcome in any location. On what I found to be disappointing stretch of road and beach for restaurants, Nico's was a welcome relief. The menu was "global" tending towards Italian (with pizza's and perfectly cooked pasta). My slow cooked chicken biryani was beautifully tender. Be prepared to relax and wait for service - have one of their excellent cocktails and enjoy the view. |

Bali, Ubud - casual, local eats Ibu Oka is the name of the roast pig location I think. |

Singapore - Pizzeria Mozza at Marina Bay Sands My favourite pizzas in Singapore at the moment. |

PhilD - I would suggest spending a morning at a hawker Centre and just picking your way through whatever appeals. Tiong Bahru hawker centre would be a good option. You could then poke through the wet market and head to nearby Forty Hands for excellent espresso. |

Need a fine dining recommendation in Singapore That's true and that is why i was so annoyed. My dining companion' steak was over-cooked twice. The second time it was not sent back. Steak was ordered medium rare however was tabled with just the tiniest hint of pink in the middle of the steak. The floor staff dealt with it extremely professionally - complimentary sides ( incl. world's best onion rings), prompt new steak...... but an overcooked steak nonetheless. |

Need a fine dining recommendation in Singapore Actually I regret posting that - I don't like bashing restaurants, particularly without any explanation. I am sure my experience is not indicative. |

Need a fine dining recommendation in Singapore Would go back to Waku Ghin. |

Need a fine dining recommendation in Singapore It's not molecular gastronomy however I had an incredible meal at Waku Ghin. One of my best meals for many years. |

Seeking a recommendation for Korean BBQ in Seoul Hello CHers, I will be in Seoul for 1 night only and am hoping someone can help me with a BBQ restaurant reasonably accessible from the Grand Hyatt. Price is not a key factor and I would prefer something atmospheric, localish and relaxed. I don't speak Korean however am comfortable with ordering by pointing. Thanks in advance. PTG |

Reservations for Naples restaurants Thanks Katie |

Reservations for Naples restaurants I am heading off to Naples shortly and wanted to seek advice on the need to make reservations. I have no intention of going to fine/formal dining locations and want to see how much a need there is to make reservations (and how far in advance) in Naples. The types of restaurants would include the commonly favoured (on CH) pizza spots, Don Salvatore, Il Stanze del Gusto etc. Thanks in advance. |

Spring restaurant: your recommendations? I found lunch at Spring the most relaxing meal of a week in Paris. After countless hours of restaurant research then there is a question of what booking can be secured? Lunch or dinner? Fixed price or a la carte? Which options for the set menus? The lunch at Spring was a no choice set menu and never has a firm hand been appreciated so much. |

And I yours - you cover my geography of Asia, Australia and mixed other. |

Thank you - you are my third confirmed visitor after myself and my mum! That was my first trip to Penang which is shocking having lived in the region for 10 years. Next quick trip is to Malacca. |

Mais oui. |

I ate here in the Christmas week and while I enjoyed the open fire for cooking the steak, I did not think that steak was great. It was perfectly cooked however tasted a little like the hotplate (not in a good way like some good wok cooked dishes). |

Singapore 14-20 Feb Eating Plan - Feedback requested You are completely missing out on the extensive range of "Singaporean" food - hawker centres, crab, go to Little India....... |

Thanks Sunshine. |

I was walking past Chez Janou to see if it open during the Christmas period and while the awning says Chez Janou, the door mounted menu was titled Le Chine. Does anybody know if this is a recent change in owner or is this business as usual? |

There are better people able to answer that question and lots of threads if you search. I booked Le Gaigne for dinner on 25th Dec just last week - maybe they still have room on 23rd or 24th. |

Best fine dining meal of the year for me and by some distance. Not even close with Caprice, Robouchon (Macau), Universal, Drawing Room, Bo Innovation (by even further).... Quay was a little closer. |

I am just back from Penang and two standouts were: The roti from Roti Transfer Canai Road (on Transfer Rd near the Caltex, in front of the blue shops, mornings only); and Teik Sen (Lebuh Carnavon, evenings) for their twice cooked pork. |

This is mainly a thank you to all the posters (particularly the regulars) for all the information on this site that assisted my upcoming trip. This was one of several resources I used and thought my itinerary may be helpful for those looking for Christmas - NYE openings. I am staying in Le Marais and am booked in to: Jules Verne; I have a long list of bistros (mainly) that when combined with fate, will fill the other eating periods. NYE is a market feast in front of the fire. Thank you again. |
