Tramontina - Is it quality...Does it compare with... $49 is a very good price on that item. Probably $200 for a similar item in the high-priced brand of all-clad cookware, if not more. (The high-priced brand includes an almost identical item in its top-rated set). Basically, it is a straight-sided pan with a helper handle and a fitted stainless steel lid. It is presently about $76 at Wal-Mart. |

Need advice on gas cooktop and electric wall oven for NYC apartment General Electric, and possibly others, make electric ovens over which one can install a gas cooktop from the same series. I know these are available in 30" and they may also be made in 27". Anyway, if the installation instructions for the electric oven states that a gas cooktop may be installed over it, then you essentially have a dual-fuel setup without the high cost of a single integrated appliance. Obviously, there would be two utility hookups involved, gas for the cooktop (plus 120 volts for the controls) and 120/240 volts for the oven. |

Tramontina Tri-Ply 5 Quart Stockpot? Tramontina makes four items in its 18/10 tri-ply all-clad line which are essentially similar but are designated differently. All are cylindrical. All have a fitted cover and two polished stainless steel handles. Item 80116/016 is the 5-qt. covered Dutch oven. 24cm diameter lid. Item 80116/017 is the 6-qt. covered sauce pot. Also 24cm diameter lid. Item 80116/019 is the 8-qt. covered stock pot. Also 24cm diameter lid. Sold by Wal-Mart including the 80116/026 deep, footed pasta insert, which is not available separately (except, possibly, directly from Tramontina). Item 80116/020 is the 12-qt. covered stock pot. 28cm diameter lid. When you remove the lids and the insert, all of these items are identical in shape and function, and differ only in height and a little in diameter, and obviously a lot in capacity. |

Tramontina Gourmet 18/10 Triply the same as Tramontina Triply 18/10? Alas, Tramontina has been using the "Gourmet" designation on cookware packaging and insert materials which is NOT in their "Gourmet" series. If the subject cookware is in Tramontina's 80116/xxx series, then it is the highly-rated 18/10 tri-ply all-clad cookware, which is NSF-listed as suitable for restaurants, etcetera. So, go by the 80116/xxx series and not by the "Gourmet" designation. For 80116/xxx cookware which has the "Gourmet" designation, just consider "Gourmet" a generic term. The exact item is etched on the underside of the cookware as 80116/xxx, where xxx represents the specific item in Tramontina's catalog. |

Tramontina - Is it quality...Does it compare with... Wal-Mart offers several variations of the Tramontina "hard-anodized" non-stick cookware. One variation has a conventional handle. Another variation has a highly polished cast stainless steel handle just like those found on the Tramontina 18/10 tri-ply cookware. The difference in price is but a few dollars. |
