Theater District recs with small children

My brother and his two under seven kids will be in town and want me to take them someplace for a quick snack after the Gazillion Bubble show. Any recs for kid-friendly places in the low 50's or upper 40's that are not complete tourist traps would be appreciated. I considered Ellen's Stardust, but they weren't so speedy last time I took people there.

Suggestion for good restaurant near Lincoln Center

Josephina, just across the street. They used to have a reasonable prix-fixe and they'll get you out in time for the the curtain without feeling rushed

Whatever happened to Supertaco truck?

Has anyone seen the Supertaco truck at 96th St lately? It seems to have been MIA for a few months now, but it was mentioned in NY Mags list of best food trucks.

5 Napkin Burger

There are some fish and chicken dishes, but I think the burgers are what they do best. For something a little different, try the lamb burger.

Breakfast - Hell's Kitchen

Amy's would be a good choice if it were a little larger--even during the week it can get pretty crowded betw. 8 and 9 am. Galaxy Diner seems popular with families. Also Pigalle, depending on the kids tastes.

Restaurants for elderly NYC visitors

Josephina's at Broadway and 65th is a fave of my in-laws, and seems popular with the senior crowd that attends Lincoln Center. Nice space, eclectic American with lots of fish and poultry.I think they have a very reasonable pre-theater prix-fixe, and the tables are fairly well-spaced, although rest rooms are down a flight of stairs.

Nice lunch in the Northeast

NYC hound visiting my parents in the Far Northeast this week and want to take them out for a nice, moderately priced lunch. Haven't been back in so long, I have no idea what's good in the area. I'm hoping you Philly hounds can help out with a few recs. They eat just about all cuisines, except maybe Japanese.

Thanks.

Hell's Kitchen Sushi

Pearl on the Sushi has indeed closed. I like Rio and you on 45th St bet 8th and 9th. Ocha on Restaurant Row is also good. Sushi of Gari, also on Restaurant Row, is supposed to be excellent but pricey.

Bagels & Lox near Times Square?

TS Hot Bagels is my local place, and I think they're some of the best I've had. They have more chew than H&H to me. Also, they make a good lox spread. Gut like Russ, no place to sit.

Opera Singing Waiters

I don't know any place that still has singing waiters, but Caffe Taci has opera nights on Friday and Saturday at 9. It's in the Village on Waverly Place near Mercer. A lot on NY's up and coming young singers do a stint there.

Chez Madeline/Petit Un Deux Trois?

Well, that makes me happy. I was sad when I saw that Locanda had closed, I loved their black squid ink pasta, but at least we get Le Madeleine back.

Chez Madeline/Petit Un Deux Trois?

Very interesting....It sounds like it would support their claims of fraudulent eviction. But something about it smells fishy.

Chez Madeline/Petit Un Deux Trois?

Anyone heard anything about this? Was passing by the old Chez Madeline on 43rd, and noticed the awning now says Petit Un Deux Trois. I was under the impression the developer was planning to tear down the building and put up something multi-story. Could the landlord have had a change of heart?

Last minute reservations in Barcelona

Just returned from Barcelona and had a great time. Thanks to your advice, I called before we left and was able to get reservations at Alkimia, Comerc24, and, after some negotiating, Cinq Sentits. All were fabulous and lived up to everyone's recommendations. Thanks again.

Mid-Priced Barcelona, suggestions

My husband and I liked Taxidermista in the Placa Reial (Barri Gotic). We were there for a somewhat early Sunday dinner. Fairly traditional with a few twists, and pricewise felt it was the upper end of moderate (but we're from NYC,so YMMD). The grilled monkfish was fresh and well prepared, there was a good wine selection;we felt we got our money's worth. Eat outside if the weather is nice.

Last minute reservations in Barcelona

Chowhounds to the rescue! Thanks for all your advice. I'll definitely try to book for the weekend ASAP. Fortunately, we'll have 7 days and a lot of flexibility. And my hubby hasn't read any guidebooks, so his heart isn't set on anything :) Thanks again!

Last minute reservations in Barcelona

I'm heading to Barcelona next week, and didn't realize how important booking waaayyy in advance was going to be. Am I completely up the creek with regard to places like Alkimia or CincSentits? Any recommendations on what my best bets are likely to be if we wait until we get there?

Edible Insects in NYC?

Toloache on 50th between 7th & 8th also serves grasshopper tacos. They're supposed to be excellent, but I haven't the fortitude to try.

Inexpensive lunch or cafe close to Avery Fisher Hall?

You should also check out Cafe Mozart at 70th near Broadway. Very Euro, in a charming Viennese sort of way. Nice brunch, good desserts. The duck salad is quite good.

Best Cheesesteak in Manhattan?

Tony Luke's is indeed now Shorty's. Recently had their cheesesteak and thought it was great. The quality of the meat was quite good and the rolls were slightly crispy on the outside but soft on the inside. And, this is key, you can get cheez whiz.

Marseille or Nice Matin?

I vote for Marseille too, but you might want to consider the owners new place Nizza, which is down the block from Marseille near 45th. More casual than Marseille, but very good and a large wine selection.

Festive office lunch near Carnegie Hall

My boss asked me to pick a festive, moderately priced place for a holiday lunch for our 3 person group. We've been to Sarabeth's and Fusion, which we liked. I was thinking Pazza Notte or Rue 57 look interesting. What do you mayvens recommend?

If you wander over to 9th Ave, there are plenty of casual places, like Chelsea Grill between 46th & 47th.
