What's the Deal with Dirty (and Extra Dirty) Martinis?

Wow ok this is stupid and so is this whole "Rookie Drink" business. Lol, what does that even mean? Youre new to drinking? You dont like the taste of straight vodka? Honestly, if you like what youre drinking then thats it. Why are you trying to add these social connotations to the "Type" of person that likes something mixed with their gin/vodka?

There are two drinks that I'll have: the dirty martini and scotch neat. I cant see how scotch neat is a real drink while vodka and olive brine isnt. If you like the drink, thats it. End of discussion. You should drink it.

Best Food Pairing With Dirty Vodka Martini?

Stoli vodka, splash of dry vermouth, 1oz olive brine, 3 olives (speared) to garnish.

What foods do you guys think would be best? My friends and I have been debating and havent come to an agreement.

Thanks.

Looking for a Birthday Place - Downtown Toronto

Hi Guys,

I'm looking somewhere to take a friend of mine for their birthday. As of now, I have no real preferences where as they are not picky at all. The only two requirements that I have is that 1 - its in the Downtown Toronto core and 2- Its in the same price range as the Old Spaghetti Factory: http://www.oldspaghettifactory.ca/med...

We'd go with a group of about 6 people total. Any and all recommendations would be greatly appreciated as the birthday's coming up fast. Ill be checking this to answer any posts if you guys have any questions.

Thanks!

Best Anniversary Suggestion

Hello all,

My significant other and I are celebrating our one year anniversary soon and i want to take her somewhere nice. Ideally in the Toronto downtown core (from dupont to front and from jarvis to ossington). I have no real specific preferences as to the type of food, but im looking for somewhere characterized by an intimate, romantic atmosphere.

In terms of price, Id like to stay around $100-$120 total for both of us counting tip and tax (neither of us really drink so that should help out) and get the nicest place for that money.

So if any of you guys have any suggestions, I'd really appreciate your help, thanks in advance!

Best 3-5 Course Romantic Meal Ideas?

Hello,

I've been lurking on the chowhound forums for about 2 years now and its been incredible. I finally managed to make an account because I desperately need you guys' help.

My girlfriend is coming back home and its been about two months since I've last seen her. I want to wow her and make an unbelievable meal for her start to finish.

I'd like to have an amuse-bouche, appetizer, main, dessert (light), and perhaps something to follow. A wine paring would be nice. My goal would be for this to be a romantic, sexy, even impressive meal and I know you guys can help out.

In terms of what she likes, shes not particular in any way at all. I would like to try to make this higher end food instead of the old run of the mill if you know what I mean. Any help or suggestions that you guys would have would be of extreme value to me in any way. I'm talking just a random idea thats thrown out could help me tremendously.

Thanks in advance and I'll keep this thread updated on what I decided and how it goes!
