New Year's Eve Dinner near SoHo - nothing fancy

Going to a friends party downtown for new year's, hoping to catch an 8pm-ish dinner in SoHo area. Any recommendations? Don't need set menu or anything fancy, just decent meal to fill us up before the party!

La Closerie - open on Sunday or Monday PM?

Does anyone know the days/hours of La Closerie? Also, better meal at the brasserie or restaurant?

Specific recommendations for food in Cannes, Nice, Eze

Thanks Beaulieu! Mirazur's menu and concept looks interesting and the scenery looks unbeatable. We only have 2 full days down there so I am picking to-do's for one, and my husband the other. He would like to see Monte-Carlo, or possibly Cannes. I'm thinking if we do Monte-Carlo we can catch a meal at Mirazur, but correct me if I'm off base here. If you have something in Monte-Carlo that's decent for lunch and not frou-frou, let me know. Same for Cannes in case that's what we end up doing. And if you ever find yourself visiting my nexk of the woods (Philadelphia) I will be sure to return the favor!!

Beaulieu - was just going to post a new thread about this, but thought I'd reach out directly to you as well. In general, do you have any good lunch spots that you recommend in on the coast that are easily accessible via public transit? (Excluding Nice and Villefranche - we're saving those cities for our dinner plans since we are staying in VF so it just makes for easier to/from dinner transit). Doesn't have to be anything fancy/haute, just something with quality food, with a nice view maybe or even just in a cool location. Thanks!

Nomiya report

Yum! Going for lunch on tues, Oct 19th - can't wait. I hope they do something similar to the beef filets, those sound great, and unlike anything we'd be served in the states...

Le Severo - better for lunch or dinner, and do we need reservations?

OK Thanks John! I'm beating a dead horse, I know - but do you happen to know if it's open on Sunday or Monday? We arrive in Paris Sat afternoon and will most likely miss lunch hours, and Tues we scored a res at Nomiya! (Those are our only days in Paris...). Thanks!

OK thanks. We are considering a car but are trying to avoid it. Thoughts on having lunch there?

OK good - that's what we were thinking! Reservations necessary for lunch?

Le Severo - better for lunch or dinner, and do we need reservations?

Title says it all. Husband and I want to go to le severo for some good boeuf on our trip in 2 1/2 weeks. Preferably would like steak frites but will feel out our order when we get there. Should we plan to go for lunch or dinner, and should we make reservations? How bad is the wait without a reservation in mid-October? I apologize in advance if these are silly questions...I have a tendency to ask those!

chow near gare de lyon?

OK thanks for the tips. Is there at least a spot open for coffee and a small "hold me over" in the train station (no need for it to be memorable, just functional!)...?

Oakglen - can you tell me some more about Cap-Estel? Someone had told me about it being an amazing location, but I didn't realize you could eat there. How difficult is it to get there sans car? Can you walk from Eze Bord De Mer train station? Is there somewhere online I can get info on the prix-fixe menu? Any info is much appreciated - thanks!

chow near gare de lyon?

Looking for a recommendation for a spot that would be open early morning (7am) near Gare de Lyon where we could pick up some morning and afternoon snacks for our 6 hour train ride down to Nice (breakfast pastries, panini, etc?)...

Down by Paris's Riverside, dining along the Seine?

The site cracks me up, but I wasn't sure how to interpret it. Thanks for the feedback!

Best croissants (preferably almond!) near St. Germain de Pres?

Thanks! I have to admit I tend to agree with what you've said - pick your spots by seeing what looks good when you get there and going w/ instincts. There's just so much hype out there about planning your Paris meals ahead of time that I'm trying to have a few spots in mind before we go. Plus my husband and I love almond croissants - so we have to make sure we have at least one while we're there!

Down by Paris's Riverside, dining along the Seine?

This site is hilarious! Does anyone know of someone who has done an O-Chateau event? The wine & cheese looks fun, as does the wine tasting + champagne cruise package. So, from those in the know, is this a tacky tourist trap or legitimate fun experience?

Our Paris dining report (long) - La Regalade, Cafe Constant, Gagnaire, Josephine, Arpege & more

This is such a great report - we are in restaurant planning phase now so I'm definitely saving this. Out of curiosity, what did you do for lunches? Interested in hearing your choices and opinions there too! We're also going to the Cote after Paris - staying in Villefranche Did you do a Cote d'Azur report as well?

Down by Paris's Riverside, dining along the Seine?

I read the NYT article as well and it made me think of doing some sort of Seine tour. So a question for those in Paris - is it worth it to do a lunch/dinner cruise on the Seine if my husband has never been to Paris and it's been 10+ years for me? Or is there such a thing as a cocktail tour? Then we could disembark for a good dinner on land? Just curious if folks find it a tourist trap or truly a fun thing to do...?

Recommendations for restaurants with good seafood dishes?

Great, I'll check it out. I have a feeling we're going to eat a lot of beef on our trip (2 steak frites lovers here!) so I was trying to balance it out by finding a seafood spot for a lunch or two. Or maybe even a good lunch spot for salads? Any suggestions? We are also interested in a nicer seafood/fish option for one of our dinners if anyone has recommendations for that as well, I just started with the other question first. Next time I'll throw all questions out at once!

Recommendations for restaurants with good seafood dishes?

Sure! Just looking for a spot that might be known for having a good moules frites...or bouillabaise...etc. I was looking for a place that wasn't a 'fine-dining' and/or 'strictly fish' spot...

Recommendations for restaurants with good seafood dishes?

Hello - looking for recommendations for restaurants that have good seafood dishes - preferably good scallops, moules, bouillabaise, etc? Looking for a dinner option that won't break the bank - under 100 euro without beverages perhaps?

Thank you all for the suggestions - these are great! We're going to Paris in October, will be there 4 nights and are firming up some good lunch and dinner options. I have some other posts out there if you want to chime in on those. Thanks again!
