QUICK! What is the best Indian restaurant on Long Island?

Need a fast recco for best Indian food on Long Island. Location unimportant. Thank you!

Barbados some info

To add to that: we hit Barbados for a 72 hr RnR stint last weekend. Hit Oistins on Friday for the fish fry and the scene. The fish is fresh (I had grilled mahi mahi and my gal had red snapper, grilled); the fried stuff is fried. But the fish cakes are great. We stayed at Mango Bay Resort and inasmuch as lunch and dinner were underwhelming, the breakfast buffet was very filling and above average - all right on the beach.

Our special meal out was at Cafe Luna at the Little Arches Hotel. The New York Times triumphed it as "perhaps the Island's best" or something along those lines. It was good, but not "fantastic" or mindblowing. I had the goat cheese and pepper salad and mahi. It was fine. Service was good but faded at the end. The dining room is mostly under the stars - very nice. Not sure I'd go back unless I had a week or so on the island and had already explored FriedClamFanatic's (which I am too BTW - go for the fried clams at Bob's Clam Hut in Kittery, Me) picks.

Lo 50's off 6th or 7th Ave for din on Wed pm?

So we ended up at Maze and all went well - or mostly well. It's a bit spirited, that is to say, the bar is lively, but we had a nice table and ordered 4 small plates. Of particular note was the kingfish and pink grapefruit crudo. Service waned (aka DISAPPEARED) at the end of the meal: I had to beg them to take my credit card. Still, it fit the bill: thank you.

Brilliant call! Hope I can get a rezzie... Thank you!

Lo 50's off 6th or 7th Ave for din on Wed pm?

Have to meet my gal for dinner after a seminar. Anybody have any quick ideas for good food (preferably not Italian - I'm tired of it this week) in that area? I'll also be wearing jeans and a blue blazer - don't want to dress...

Bistro Chat Noir - yay or nay?

Thanks Mm - Le Gigot is on the list!

Bistro Chat Noir - yay or nay?

So: we ended up having a nice evening! Most important thing is that my gal had a good time and really enjoyed herself and that was the whole point; she even got to speak 5 words of French. While the room is unremarkable (per se) it IS bistro-ish in decor. The service was fine; the food above average for bistro fare: the duck confit I'd be hard pressed to improve upon. The beet salad with goat cheese, enjoyable. My gf had the scallops (fingerling pot, pureed cauliflower, lardon... nice; I had breast of duck cassoulet style (good); we split profiterole. The experience was exactly as it should have been. Older Republican crowd but , hey, it's E. 66th Street off the Park. I'd go back. Thanks to all for info and support!

Bistro Chat Noir - yay or nay?

Okie dokie hounds.. stuffy is no good ... what the hell was I thinking? Plus my gal is kinda funky lookin - hey, maybe we'll go in there and shake em up! Hopefully I can get in to Le Gigot! Many thanks!!

Bistro Chat Noir - yay or nay?

Thank you, this is enormously helpful. I'll probably end up going anyway, I just do not want a lousy experience... If you can think of any other French spots - cozy-ish, i'd appreciate it. I got a late start on this one..

:(

Bistro Chat Noir - yay or nay?

Going there this weekend... it's a special occasion... if someone has a bad report I might change my plans. Thanks!

Buenos Aires in October for Gluttony

Not sure if Sucre is still live and well, but i was there in fall of 2006 - we loved it so much we went twice in 5 nights. I think it's in Palermo.... also there is a Lebanese place (name escapes me) that is on the second floor of the Argentina-Arab Club...bellydancing; good food!

Best steak in Buenos Aires?

We went to Cabinas Las Lilas in Puerto Maduro - inasmuch as it has touristy elements; it is widely regarded as a classic. We were pleased.

Heading to both cites during Thanksgiving week. I'm looking for any and all suggestions: upscale? Street food? Surprises? Thanks!

Small plates, cheeses, charcuterie

Thank you all! I ended up at Meskeren - the Ethiopian place instead. It was fine for what i wanted and what I had time for.... but now I have several leads!

Small plates, cheeses, charcuterie

Looking for informal small plates dining tonight - charcuterie, tapas, cheese plates... prefer newish - prefer downtown...

One if By Land, Two if By Sea...

Ok. So I went last night noting that I was bugged by all those nasty previous posts. We had a nice meal. I won't go into details but it was good - above average certainly... I had the sea bass (perfect). Service - outstanding from entrance to exit. Decor - warm. They did not rush us (3:15 deuce). We were upstairs. My only issue is the price, not that I minded paying it. It just was not worth $75. $60 maybe. Not $75. Still - I had a very nice experience overall. So the new chef - and the restaurant - seems to be working.

One if By Land, Two if By Sea...

Kinda got roped into going to One if By Land, Two if By Sea tonight. I understand they have a new chef. Has anyone been there, say, in the last 3 months and if so - what's the verdict? As well, any dishes to avoid? Or must-haves? Many previous posts (on this subject) have not been kind! Do tell... thx

Visiting Madrid 11/18 - 11/24

What restaurants must I go to and (pardon my naivete) how exactly does a tapas restaurant operate? Do I simply choose and they start a tab? I'm going by myself too, so is there any bias toward single diners?

Gurney's Inn For Thanksgiving (Montauk)

The food and service are much improved too - i've been there for lunch and spa recently (definitely hit the spa!)
