Looking for reviews of BBQ Caterers

Thanks for the info! There's not much detail about catering on his website, but I will definitely send them an email to get a quote.

Looking for reviews of BBQ Caterers

I'm getting married in August 2011 at a venue that has no in-house catering. My fiance and I are not particularly formal people - the whole reason we chose this space was to avoid the generic 'hotel ballroom' feel - and would like to do an elegant BBQ for dinner. I'm looking for something closer to grilled salmon and medditeranean veggetable salad than to burgers and coleslaw. My problem is that I'm having a hard time finding reviews of caterers that specialize in BBQs.

Does anyone have any experience with a place like Smokin Bones Catering, Simply BBQ, or BBQ Gourmet that they would like to share? These places specialize in BBQ and say they "also" do weddings, but I'm not sure I'm comfortable booking a place like this for a wedding without hearing about others' experiences.

Or would it be better to find a caterer that specializes in weddings and "also" does BBQ? I've heard good things about Noble Culinary Creations. Any other suggestions for general caterers that might also do a BBQ?

I'm looking to spend a max. of $80/person inclusive of food, staffing, rentals (linens, china, etc.) and soft bar - this price does not have to include alcohol.

Thank you!

Inexpensive wedding venue - Help

Sorry for the late reply - you may have booked your wedding venue already - but the cheapest place I found that was still nice was the Delta Hotel East, at Kennedy/401 in East Toronto. Packages start at $89/person, and include absolutely everything: the space rental, linens, china/glassware, service staff, hors d'oeuvres, host bar, dinner, wine with dinner, and your room for the night. The $89 even includes taxes and tip - this is a very hard price to beat in Toronto.

The only drawback is that the ceremony space is not outdoor, if you are willing to compromise on that particular aspect.

I was going to book this myself, but my fiance and I decided we just didn't want the formal hotel ballroom feel. But if I was going with a hotel ballroom, this would be the one.

Budget Toronto Wedding Catering

I'm also thinking of doing an "elegant bbq" wedding, partially for budget reasons, and partially because I think my family would find it more fun than a formal plated dinner.

I've found two caterers that have packages from about $20/person, and have upscale options like grilled salmon and prime rib if you don't want to serve burgers at your wedding: and

They both say on their websites that they do weddings. But I can't find any reviews of either of them online, and would really love to hear from someone who's had personal experience with them.
