preferably locavore, westside/hwood/downtown all in play. no sgv or sfv. expensive ok, but not off the charts. only guidance i got from gf was "i want to leave full". which makes me love her more, but may take sushi off the list (as would the locavore preference).
considering tasting room in venice, but haven't got much farther than that.
You would have a hard time finding _________in Los Angeles...
1) Sloppy Joes (the New Jersey kind - double deckers on rye with thousand island dressing, cole slaw, swiss and the meat of your choosing)
2) Good Spanish or Portuguese food.
3) Echo everything above about new england food (lobster rolls, chowder)
Best Lunch near 3rd Street Promanade?
I used to live near there. It can be slim pickings but here are some sneaking good choices:
Wahoo's fish tacos - its a chain but their cilantro sauce is good
Bay Cities - not too far depending on what end of the promanade you start from.
Warsawa - interesting and pretty tasty.
Work Lunch at Babita - need recs
I have a work lunch at Babita. Its a big group and therefore a limited menu and I need to choose in advance. Choices below, looking for guidance for my first visit :
Enchiladas de pollo en mole poblano (cilantro, onion, cheese, cremamex)
Barbacoa ("beef cheeks" braised tender and served with chopped cilantro and onion)
Cochinita pibil (achiote pork, baked in banana leaves served with pickled cabbage and onion)
Chile relleno (with potato, jack cheese, roasted garlic)
