Which is Better - Fressen or Calico?

I've been to all three: Calico, no contest. The owner chef there used to cook at Fressen. Lovely backyard garden, too.

And Karine's isn't exclusively vegetarian.

Bo De Duyen question

BDB is now a bubble tea shop on Spadina just north of Queen W about 2 blocks south of where they used to be. No eat-in. Frozen vegetarian food only (mostly fake meat), tho they might have a non-frozen daily special. Nothing at all like it used to be. Dundas never opened.

Buca VS Quanto Basta VS Scarpetta

If I was paying I'd go to Buca. If someone else was paying, Scarpetta no problem.

The Stockyards Smokehouse & Larder

Do tell!

Crown Princess Fine Dining - Verdict is good! :)

I was charged $8 for SP dishes (chef specials) last Tuesday at 10:30 am. Must be a mix-up.

Restaurants near the St. Lawrence Market?

Le Petit Dejeuner is nearby and won't blow the budget. French-ish (Belgian, actually) and you won't need a reso. They have booths! I'm sure someone will reco Origin, but it's a bit of a zoo after work.

Crown Princess Fine Dining - Verdict is good! :)

Not everything's $3.10. Only the dishes that are regularly $5.30 (large) or $4.30 (medium) though that's the majority of the menu and the two dishes on the menu that are already $3.10.

The siu mai are $6.30.

Still a steal and better than paying full price.

Anniversary dinner before leaving the country... where should we go?

Maybe the reason Wine Bar doesn't gets mentioned here much is because Scott Vivian doesn't cook there anymore?

Ancient but good - what's your long standing favourite?

Swatow Special Noodles.

Toronto Food Challenges

Nope, they just ring the bell when they serve them.

Restaurant for a date with a "foodie"?

There's one at Yonge and Iabella. Toko or Toro? Cheaper than Fune, more casual.

What does Toronto do best?

Pretty much all tourist traps and franchises. Le Select is a five-minute walk away. And Dhaba has an Indian ayce lunch buffet that's quite OK.

My first time in Toronto and I dont have a car

Oops, didn't see that CP just opened on Bay.

My first time in Toronto and I dont have a car

Isn't the Crown Princess in Scarborough, nowhere near downtown Toronto where the car-less OP will be staying?

I'd also recommend Le Select for French.

Fun places for dinner near Queen/King and Spadina?

The problem is the theatre is in an extremely touristy neighbourhood. Why not just go to the HRC if that's what you're looking for? It's almost the same walk from the Royal Alex it is to Queen & Spadina.

At a loss

It might help us if we knew your age group. A 20-something's idea of "fun" rarely appeals to someone in their 50s.

If you had one evening only in Toronto, where would you eat?

Sisters is highly rated? By who? Busloads of shut-ins?

Lucy Restaurant

If it hasn't opened, how can there be reviews?

Thai food on the danforth?

Jean's. It's vegetarian but I'm told the husband & wife/cooks were one of the first to do Thai in TO back in the 80s.

Date night downtown tonight- where to?

Patio at Origin (crowded curbside)
