Shun Knives--Preference?
Amazon has the 10" and 8" Chef's Knives priced at $199. I just added the 10" to my set.

Looking for Limburger Cheese in O.C.
I ended up finally finding it at Bristol Farms in Newport Beach. I was surprised that neither Frog's Breath nor Venissimo had it. The Meat House didn't have it but they did have some very nice pork chops that I had for dinner that night. :)
Thanks again for all the help. My mom was very happy.
Looking for Limburger Cheese in O.C.
Thank you everyone for the suggestions. It looks like I have a little driving to do.

Looking for Limburger Cheese in O.C.
I have been given a quest by my Mother. She is craving Limburger cheese (I can't stand the stuff) and has not been able to find it at her usual supermarkets. So I am asking the Chowhounders, does anyone know where I can find good quality Limburger Cheese in Orange County? Long Beach and that area are also possibilities. I'm in Huntington Beach.
Thanks for any ideas.

Shun Ken Onion 3-Piece Knife Set - $199
Saw that when I woke up this morning. It will be here tomorrow. :-)
Nice addition to my Ken Onion 8" Chef's Knife.
All-Clad Copper Core Saute Pan Question
Thank you both for the replies. The pan stays the same during cooking as it is when cool.
All-Clad Copper Core Saute Pan Question
I recently bought the 6 Quart Saute Pan and have a question about the shape of the bottom.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00028X2VE/ref=pop
Mine seems to be raised in the center. When I put in the oil it all runs to the outside leaving a high and dry spot in the middle of the pan. Is this normal? This is the first nice piece of cookware I have ever purchased and just want to know if I need to work on returning it.
Thanks,
Tom
Hong Kong Style Chow Mein in Orange County?
I want to add another rave review of Fu Wing Low. My entire extended family (at least 40 people) will pass through there over the course of a week. I have been going there for many years and I honestly cannot remember a dish that was not great.
Kenny is great!
Mesa Grill & Barbecue; Costa Mesa 17th Street
Wanted to update my original review. Since I live close by I've been going here often and getting their Tri-Tip Cobb Salad. It's very good and it has been my dinner on quite a few evenings.
I got the ribs again last week and still think they are just ok. If you really want ribs go to Newport Rib Company or Beach Pit BBQ.
Breakfast Burritos in Huntington Beach?
Check out the Breakfast Burrito at Beach Burgers on Beach and Garfield. I always ask them to add their hot, homemade salsa inside the burrito. To me, that's the hot ticket. I've turned a lot of people onto this over the years and they have all gone back multiple times.
Late Night in Costa Mesa???
I recently moved to the east side of C.M. (Newport and 23rd). I often work until after 11 or 12 and the only thing I know of close by at that time is Jack In The Box.
PLEASE HELP ME KEEP THE CLOWN AT BAY!!!!!
Any type of food is ok. Carry-out, drive thru, delivery and sit down restaurants are all options. I try to stay away from chains (iHop, Norms, Dennys, etc.).
Thanks in advance for any recommendations.

Chinese in OC
You could try Fu Wing Low at the corner of Brookhurst and Heil (across from Mile Square Park) in Fountain Valley. Not much for atmosphere but the food is great and the people are very nice.
Everyone I have taken there has loved the food.
Mesa Grill & Barbecue; Costa Mesa 17th Street
Sitting here after finishing the Mesa Platter this is what I think. . .
Food was pretty good but not great. I've never before been to a BBQ place that did NOT have napkins of some kind at the table.
The salad was really good.
The Tri Tip was done medium/well and I like mine more rare.
The Ribs were, again, good but not great.
The Pulled Pork was tasty but I almost never order it so I really don't have a frame of reference for comparison.
The Chicken was very moist but a bit oily.
The corn on the cob was tasty.
The breadsticks were nothing special, a little BBQ rub sprinkled on would have made them much better.
The Red Cabbage Cole Slaw was not very good. You should skip it.
I would say that if you are craving BBQ and in the neighborhood then Mesa BBQ will do. You won't leave raving about the food but you won't leave hungry either.

CARM'S CONEY'S NY's Finest Coney's & Franks in Costa Mesa---Anybody Been There?
Just came back from there thanks to this thread. :-)
Tasty dogs. Had one Coney (Hoffman's Veal) and one "City Dog" (Sabret). Those along with a bottle of Sam Adams was $12.50. Not too bad considering the brands are a little hard to find.
People were friendly and there are 4 flat screens to watch.
I will be back.

Franks Philadelphia in Costa Mesa
Went to Frank's tonight and came away very disappointed. I ordered the Frank's Special which is basically a cheesesteak with hot peppers. When I got home I found that there were no hot peppers that I could taste. The fries (I ordered them well done) were cooked well but had zero seasoning on them. Not even a little salt.
I've been going to John's Philly Grill and Philly's Best but decided to try Frank's based on this thread. In my opinion both other places are better.
I'd have to say that I will probably not be back. If I do go back I'll be trying a different sandwich (sausage or maybe BBQ beef).
Chicago's Best - Irvine
I'd have to agree with your comment on the Beef and Sausage Combo. I basically ate it like two separate sandwiches. I had to keep eating the beef because it was all threatening to dive off of the roll. ;-)
Like I said, I will give it another chance the next time I'm over there. Now, do I get the burger, the ribs or the Dogs. . . .
Chicago's Best - Irvine
Well I'm sitting here at CBs after just finishing an Italian Beef and Sausage Combo. It was tasty enough, but the beef and sausage were both exceptionally dry. I arrived a little after 1:00 so it was the tail end of the lunch rush. I would expect everything to be pretty fresh at this time of day.
The fries were good and they were well done although I'm not sure if that was just a side effect of my timing.
Next time I'm in this area I'll have to try the burger and report back.
Good pizza in Huntington Beach area?
I have a couple of favorites locally.
Gina's Pizza at Harbor & Adams (Vons Center) is very good as is Haus of Pizza (Paul Mitchell Plaza). I have also been addicted to the "Perfect Paradise" pizza from Players Bar and Grill at 19th and Harbor (NW Corner).
Good breakfast burritos in Huntington Beach area?
Everything seems to be the same. I'm not even sure if there was an ownership change or just a name change. I've been getting the Breakfast Burritos right through and have not noticed any difference.
Good breakfast burritos in Huntington Beach area?
Figured I'd resurrect this thread. I love the breakfast burritos at Beach Burgers (formerly Bravo Burger) on Beach Blvd and Garfield. I get them about twice a week. They are huge and delicious. The trick is to get them to put their hot homemade salsa inside the burrito. Darn, now I'm getting hungry. . .
OC - Lunch Recs for Huntington Beach/Fountain Valley?
For a great hole-in-the-wall Chinese Restaurant check out Fu Wing Low at the corner of Heil and Brookhurst (5-10 minutes from Magnolia/Warner). The food is always great (different members of my extended family are there almost every day). I highly recommend the Pot Stickers, Orange Beef and Fried Shrimp.
