Volle Nolle Veal Pastrami Sandwich veal pastrami? who knew! thanks for reporting again. I'm intrigued. |

What was the most memorable thing you ate in Hawaii? This reminded me of the worse thing I didn't eat. We were off the beaten path on the Big island, and 3 little rugrats who were filthy and snotty nosed were selling cookies with their mom. Of course we bought one from each of them. But as we drove away I turned to my husband and said, "you're not seriously ganna eat one of those!" |

Anyone visited Purdy's Mac Nut Farm in Molokai? I meant to add, try any mac nuts you can. I find Mauna Loa to be average. A few years ago, somone was selling jars of salted macs that were amazing. Check out the other brands, because you can get Mauna Loa in just about every grocery store on the mainland. |

Anyone visited Purdy's Mac Nut Farm in Molokai? We stopped by for a short visit while staying on island. It was ok but not really a destination to us. Love the CookHouse. I would certainly disagree that a day is more than adequate to see the island. but if all you have is a day, then I would suggest heading east. That drive is amazing. |

Anyone visited Purdy's Mac Nut Farm in Molokai? Yes, I've visited Purdy's farm a few years ago. Was there a question or are you just advertising for them? Seemed like nice people. It was a short visit as we were in the area. The nuts were fine but not exceptional to me. |

Post-Marathon meal between Boston and Northeast suburbs so glad you experienced the joy of the marathon and its sense of community of spectators being fully engaged in and cheering on and celebrating the participants. |

Amen, lots of victims and first responders at both places. Perhaps start at Atlantic Fish for some oysters and then head to Forum. I've never been to Forum. What to order? |
|

I for one plan on stopping by sometime soon as a show of support. |

Thanks everyone for the rec's. Table ended ordering a few orders of beignet and fried green tomatoes. I never got a chance to order the hush puppies : ( Both were fantastic. I'll be back to try to veggie burger, but wasn't up for the spice today. Went with the asparagus/shroom/goatch omellete which was perfectly executed. And I must admit the bite of pancakes I had made me a believer. Now only if it wasn't so far away from me, I'd be back real soon to try other menu items. Again, thanks everyone. It appears there really aren't any misses. Oh and great house music mix - perfect for a festive brunch. |

THAI THAI RESTAURANT ON HAWAII ISLAND a couple of years ago we stayed in volcano village for 4 nights during the monarch festival. we loved the thai restaurant so much we got take out twice to eat back at home watching the competition. We especially enjoyed a pork curry with succulent baby eggplant made spicy at our request as well as the americanized standard of pad thai, but also heated up a notch. |

Aloha Hawaii! Please Critique SF Chowhounds' Visit to Kauai and Maui for Next Week! In regards to #3. The only juice in a proper mai tai is freshly squeezed lime juice. |

really? perhaps I'll order them for the table too. Like clamcakes, I haven't had many wow hushpuppies, but when they're good. . . I'll report back! |

Anyone been lately? What are the hits and what are the to be missed? I'm thinking of ordering beignets for the table as well as bisquits and gravy, so everyone can have a bite without going into a food coma. Any favorites? Egg dishes as well as sandwiches and burgers. . . . Thanks |

Aloha Hawaii! Please Critique SF Chowhounds' Visit to Kauai and Maui for Next Week! oh and a trip to that side of Maui requires a sunset trip to Hula grill sandbar for crab/mac wontons and an adult beverage and some hula! |

Aloha Hawaii! Please Critique SF Chowhounds' Visit to Kauai and Maui for Next Week! What fun, to be honest, I haven't been a fan of Roys for years. I think they overextended the brand. Back in the olden days it was the perfect trifecta to go to Josselins Pacific Cafe in Kapaa, Roys and Josselin managed Beach House. It was only with his food that I could get past the sunset paparrazi flashbulbs going off with diner's who didn't have a window seat practically sitting on your lap for a photo shoot at your table. That same experience was only heightened at The Princeville/St Regis. You are having a lovely cocktail and pupus, and dropping a couple of hundred and are suddenly swarmed by non paying tourists pushing and shoving their fanny packs into your pupu's while directing their cinimatographer to get the shot, while yelling into our faces, "we're losing the light, we're losing the light!" A picnic of poke and some Kauai Kunana Good call on checking out Tiki Iniki, and we always enjoy a stop at Keoki's bar for entertainment and some pupus. When on Maui, and visiting upcountry, perhaps a stop at Haili'imaile General Store for Sashimi Neopolean. If you love Lappert's keep your eye out for Tropical Dreams. It's mo bettah! Aloha, and safe journey! |

Breakfast and Lunch In Mansfield someone upthread mentioned commonwealth bbq in wrentham. I don't know that it is a good suggestion for Mansfield, but it is close. I just finished sharing the pulled pork sandwich and fries and it was pretty darned good, as were the fries. We also like the beans. I have never had stuffed jalapeno peppers like they do them with meat and cheese. A good stop when you're in the hood. |

How do I know if my gorgonzola is time to go go? Other cheese types are easy to read when it's passed it's shelf life, or a bit of mold is to be removed and the rest saved. |

Enso Sushi - Conveyor Belt Sushi I haven't, but I do take issue with the whole conveyor belt concept. It promotes waste when overfishing is a real problem on this planet. And the patron is paying for all that uneaten sushi that has a limited conveyor belt life when the conveyor belt is properly monitored and they don't pull the maguro and resource it into a spicy tuna roll. Not saying this place would do that, but some do. |

some really great lists. |

They don't know where to shop or eat ! ! ! Well it is late night and time to goof around. I thought he forgot he was Scott Caan and showed up in character. Or at least that's the story I'd go with if I was him. His character recently basically said the exact same thing. |

Ahh the Nui has always been a big part of our Kauai northshore adventures. I'm hearing dark things from the grape vine. Can it be true? Have they hired new management? Has Hollywood gone to their head? Wassup? |

Just emailed me that they are staying open tonight. In case anyone is in the hood. |
