Chima/Picanha/Na'Brasa

One comment regarding Na'Brassa. They have higher pricing on Friday and Saturday. I only mention this because I visited on a Sunday evening and they charged me the higher price. When I pointed it out, they adjusted the receipt without question. It still left me with a bad feeling of questioning whether it was an honest mistake or if someone was trying to pull one over on their customers.

Anyone been to Round Guys Brewing Co. in Lansdale?

As a follow-up, I did email the owner with my concerns about the 'vibe' of the place. He said he will talk to his staff about it. So bonus points for very prompt follow-up and listening to his guest's concerns.

Anyone been to Round Guys Brewing Co. in Lansdale?

Recent first time visit started off very well with one of the owners coming by and explaining all the different beers on tap. Service went significantly downhill from there (that owner left for the evening). This has the feel of a spot that has regulars and if you're not one of the regulars, you're out of luck. Took well over 45 minutes to get my food. Which consisted of sandwiches and bacon-wrapped pretzel bites. There is no reason it should have taken that long. And at no point was I asked if I wanted another drink when my first was finished. The place wasn't crowded at all, so there is no excuse for the shoddy treatment by the staff.

Good food near Hard Rock?

Wanted to answer my own question just in case someone references this thread in the future. First, logistics. The Hard Rock Hotel is about a 20 minute walk to the strip or $10 cab ride. The walk was safe enough during the day, but I probably wouldn't do it at night as it does pass by a slightly questionable residential area. I ate at Ferraro's , Mon Ami Gabi, & Culinary Dropout. The food at Ferraro's was definitely a highlight. The happy hour menu available in the bar area provided more than enough options to put together a yummy dinner. The fettuccini alfredo was perfection and the caesar salad was a good counterpoint to the pasta's richness. Service at Ferraro's was off. You were given the distinct impression that if you were not a regular or big spender you weren't really welcome. I ate indoors at Mon Ami Gabi (no wait). The service was efficient and the food good. I ordered the fish special and while the details escape me at this point, I do remember the dish being well balanced texturally and flavor-wise. Culinary Dropout was convenient as it is in the HRH itself. Service was excellent. Staff was warm and really on the ball in regards to anticipating the guest's needs. I ordered the Crispy Shrimp Caesar Salad. Portion size is large with an abundant amount of shrimp. The table next to me had ordered the soft pretzels & fondue and I wish I had been bold enough to ask for a taste. It looked and smelled delicious, but not a dish I could have ordered as a single diner with a plane to catch.

Nina's Waffles and Sweets Doylestown

Visited this past weekend. The staff is friendly. The shop itself needs a better system for lining up and ordering. It was very crowded when I visited and people just kinda milled about not really sure where the line started. In actuality, there was no line, you just jumped in to order whenever the chance presented itself. I had the waffle tatin (fresh liege waffle smeared with pastry cream, topped with cooked apples, and briefly torched). To me, this dessert was too sweet. I think if the apples had been tart, there would have been more contrast, but it wasn't to be. The brulee effect was also negligible. I liked the flavor of the waffle, but it wasn't as crispy as I'm used to. My only other experience with liege waffles is Inside Scoop in Coopersberg. I will give Nina's another try and see if I can ask for the waffle to be cooked a bit longer.

Good food near Hard Rock?

Any report from your trip? I was watching this post as I will be staying at the Hard Rock without a car and pondering my options. Slightly different from you, looking for good low to moderately priced (max $30 before drinks, tax, tip) dinners within walking distance. Any other recommendations in addition to the ones already listed? Ferraro's is highly recommended on this board, but I'm thrown by the fact that they charge tourist twice as much as locals. Has anyone tried the happy hour menu at Ferraro's? Is it any good?

Asian Legend in Lansdale

Good authentic Chinese food. Apparently the cook is formerly from Sang Kee. From the taste of the food, it's a believeable claim. I had the Hong Kong Style Noodle Soup (egg noodles) w/ shrimp dumplings & roast duck. Others at the table had Grilled Beef w/ broken rice and Deluxe Pan Fried Noodles (chow fun). The grilled beef was very tender and flavorful. The pan fried noodles had that critical "wok hei". Reasonable prices. Service was pleasant.

Wedding cakes with delivery to suburbs

I'm not 100% sure if Alice Bakery & Confectionary in North Wales does wedding cakes, but I have seen pictures of thier specialty cakes such as birthday or anniversary. Beautiful and fondant free. Their buttercream is perfect: smooth, rich, and only slightly sweet.

As an aside, Ciao Bella recently changed owners.

The Butcher and the Bar Keep

Visited on a Monday night. It's okay. For me, it felt like the concept was sound, but the execution isn't quite there yet. And for the prices they're charging, I expected a bit better. Ordered the pork belly ($10), garlic parmesan wings ($9 for 4 whole wings), and burger ($11). The pork belly, a picture of which was featured on the Philly.com article about the restaurant, was dry (and looked nothing like the picture). I'm used to pork belly having a crispy skin and then an unctuous 'mouth feel'. It defies logic that such a fatty cut of pork would be dry. They did get the crispy part right though. The accompanying risotto was good - creamy with the rice still having a bit of bite to it. Wings were hot, crispy, and tasteless! They had melted shredded parmesan over the wings and tossed chopped spring onions over top. But the wings had no real discernable garlic flavor... or any flavor whatsoever. The burger was acceptable. The menu description: "House blended beef, seasonal beer glazed onions, smoked bacon, 3 cheese blend, oven roasted tomato, brioche bun, fries or fruit". The beef was flavorful and cooked correctly. There were alot of onions, bordering on overpowering the burger and they were a little sad, a bit of carmelization wouldn't have hurt. The '3 cheese blend' tasted just like American cheese. Tomato was bland with no roasted flavor apparent. The fries were excellent! Everything fresh cut fries should be. Service was perfunctory. The owners were present and active in bartending or seating guests. They did not visit tables, so I did not share any of these comments with them. As an aside, if asked, I will share honest feedback with management. But something has to be pretty egregious for me to "ask to see a manager". Overall, it feels like a step up from a neighborhood joint, but not a place I'd go out of my way for.

Burger Monger at Willow Grove Mall

Delicious with excellent service! Located on the 3rd floor of the mall next to the carousel, this quick service restaurant offers premium burgers made of "Akaushi Kobe Beef". I wasn't sure if I would be able to taste any difference from say a Five Guys or even Elevation burger, but the difference is there and quite dramatic. The burgers ($6.99 for 6 oz) are cooked medium well (hint of pink) and are very flavorful and also non-greasy! Served on a Garlic Buttered Challah Bun with unlimited toppings. After placing your order, they give you a number and then deliver the food to your table. In the time I was there, someone checked on me three different times to make sure everything was okay. The hand cut fries ($2.99 for half pound) are quite good as well, but the cheese sauce ($1.49) was bland. For dessert I had the Strawberry Butter Cake ($4.99) which was a slice of pound cake topped with two scoops of hagen daaz ice cream and strawberry sauce. I ordered it to go and they actually packed up each item seperately! I ended up eating it in the car and it was a fitting end to the meal. This is the first non-Florida location for this chain, and I'm hoping they do well.

Lansdale Farmers Market Bars Alice Bakery

This is so upsetting. I was looking forward the the opening of the farmers market for one reason only - to be able to get Alice's croissants Saturday mornings w/o driving to North Wales. Now there is no reason to go to the market at all.

First Time in Nashville - Nailed it?

The Loveless Cafe is a miserable experience. Long lines, mediocre food, lackluster service... just not worth it.

Arnolds is wonderful!! Food is delicious and people are so welcoming. Definitely make a trip here.

Pancake Pantry falls in between those two. Yes, its touristy, but the pancakes are yummy. Service is efficient, nothing special though. So if you can get in on a day when there isn't a line, it would be worth a visit.

Jesse's BBQ (Souderton)

Very delicious bbq. When you get out of your car, the first thing you smell is smoked meat. In fact, you can smell it even as you're driving by -- talk about enticing! I ordered the sampler platter which typically includes ribs, brisket, chicken, pulled pork, and 2 sides for $18. On the day I visited, they had run out of ribs, so I subbed wings. Everything was yummy, but my favorite was the brisket. Tender, flavorful, perfect. I ordered the baked beans and mac & cheese for my sides. Good, but small portion size (about 1/3 cup). I checked out the rest of the menu and I think the prices are a tad high for the portion size, but the quality is definitely there.

Margaritas Mexican Restaurant to open Oct. 23 in Towamencin

This restaurant has been very busy since opening. 1hr+ waits on most evenings. Had a chance to visit this past weekend. Seated in the main dining room. Atmosphere is lively and colorful, with plenty of Mexican decorations. There is even a movie playing on one of the TVs showing how the various artwork was created (sculpture, paper mache, carving, etc.). That was neat because you could watch something being crafted and then look around the room and find that object hanging on the wall. Chips and salsa are complimentary. Margaritas start at approx. $8.50 with prices not actually listed on the menu. When I asked my waitress about prices, she wasn't really sure. I ordered the Chicken Chimichanga. The food is very americanized. I'm not sure why I was hoping for something more authentic, but this isn't it. The chicken had no flavor at all, despite the menu description of "seasoned chicken and cheese rolled in a flour tortilla". The "mild red chile sauce" accompanying it was similarly bland. Also comes with black beans and rice, which were nothing special. The highlight of the meal was the fried ice cream dessert. The waitstaff was competant and it was a pleasant dining experience for what it is. I would definitely go back, but adjust my expectations accordingly.

Holiday pies

Alice's Bakery & Confectionary in North Wales. Their focus is more breads & cakes/pastries. I haven't noticed pies yet, but they do special items on Saturdays and as the holidays approach.

Another option for you might be Tabora Farms on Main St. in Lansdale.

63 Bistro

Went here for a special occasion this past weekend. I ordered and enojoyed the "birch beer bbq short ribs". Dining partner ordered the "colmar chicken". Really didn't enjoy and it was only after he had finished eating did he realize that the cheese mentioned in the menu description had been left off the entree. Brought the omission to the waitress's attention. She checked with the kitchen and offered to add the cheese to the portion in our leftover to-go box. We declined. When reviewing the bill, noticed a small difference in price between what was stated in the menu and what was on the bill for my entree. I asked the waitress about this and found out it was an up-charge for a condiment added to my side dish. She apologized for not having told me about the up-charge at the time of ordering. Upon receiving the credit card signature slip, noticed that the total amount was now significantly reduced from the original bill. The waitress hadn't said anything when she dropped off the slip, so I wasn't sure if it was a mistake? I went and checked with her and she said her manager had run the credit card, so whatever it said must be accurate. So odd. I later realized that the dessert had been comped, hence the difference between the bill and the credit card slip. Bottom line, I enjoyed my meal, but feel that communication/service could have been better. I just left the restaurant feeling confused and awkward.

Taste of Philadelphia

Worth it if you're getting the groupon (it's also on living social). Not worth paying full price. Huge variety of food and alcohol. Decent sized samples at every booth. There really is something for every palate. You'll leave stuffed.

Shellfish Sue (Lansdale)

Finally had a chance to visit. Delicious and yes, the owner is very nice. I ordered the fish (cod) and chips and the Baltimore crab cake (made with lump crab meat). The fish was seasoned perfectly and fried in a light tempura batter. Fries are very yummy and addicting. I picked the Italian salt and am planning on trying some of the other salt choices on future visits. The crab cake was good, but on the small side. All in all, you can definitely taste the quality.

Melodia Grill, Souderton...anyone been?

I've been here for lunch several times. The food is delicious and very high quality. Something as simple as a salad with grilled chicken just tastes better here, probably because everything is made fresh and organic/local when possible. As you would guess though, this restaurant is on the pricey side. Lunch entrees at most restaurants in Souderton average around $8, Melodia averages around $11. Also, service tends to be slow (only problematic if you have a limited lunch hour).

Three thousand people in two days

The chicken was hot and fresh. They are still super busy though! Word of advice, check your order before you leave. The busyness can result in missed items... In my case, Mac and cheese was left out, but i hadn't left the store yet so was able to go get it.

Any reliable, decent airport food?

Top of the Crown Grill is over-priced for average food. Personal size flatbread pepperoni pizza was $10 and I think the hot dog was $6.50.

I would like to try this place and probably will in the near future. A little puzzled by the "people" who have been and posted... no chow histories at all.... curious. Anyway, since the restaurant doesn't have a website, does anyone know what's on the menu, price range, hours, etc.? "unique menu", "so good", and "nice owner" doesn't really provide much to go on...

Smoke Rack BBQ - Lansdale, PA

This place only opened up in Lansdale a couple of months ago, not 2 years. I tried the beef brisket and mac & cheese. The brisket was decent, pink smoke ring was visible, good aroma, okay flavor. Mac & cheese was yummy, but miniscule portion size. For $2.50, you got what seemed like a 1/4 cup serving. I prefer Uncle Gregs, but would return here in a pinch.
