L'Oustau de Baumaniere-inside or out?

We will be having dinner at L'Oustau de Baumaniere in July. When we were there many years ago, it was Autumn and we dined indoors. I am wondering if it is preferred to dine outside on the terrace in the summer? Thoughts?

Dinner on La Cienega - help!

Tasca on Third has tapas and so does Cobras and Matadors. Real Food Daily-vegan food but nice is right next door to Largo. Also check out Chaya Brasserie (great bar menu) and Izykaya by Katsu-ya.

Delicious dim sum--with carts in SGV?

My family enjoys the cart style of dim sum, because we all like different things and it has been easy and fun to order what we can see. We are not experts at this kind of food and in searching the board, it seems that Sea Harbour and Elite are the CH faves, but that perhaps they only offer menu service, not carts. We want to head out there--where to?

First time visitor, staying in Santa Monica

For solo nice dinner, i recommend the communal high tables at Gjelina on Abbot Kinney in Venice. Great for pizza or amazing small plates and quintessential L.A. Also, sitting around the fire pit at Bar Hayama on Sawtelle could be nice.

How is the wedding food at Luxe Hotel on Sunset?

I had an event there and the food was good. They had a great sushi bar during cocktails.

We like ozzeria Mozza and sushi zo. Any or suggestions?

What's worthy in my new hood? La Cienega between Pico & Olympic?

Cafe Bella Roma on Robertson has good branzino and other fish and wonderful pasta. bloom Cafe on pico near Fairfax is worthy. La Provence on Olympic is good for breakfast, lunch or pastries. Matsuhisa isn't far nor Joan's on Third.

Couldn't get res at Mozza-Other recs with kids?

My kids like Kitchen 24 in Hollywood, which is a hipster diner with surprisingly good food. Around the corner is the Disney's Soda Fountain and Studio store which has an old fashioned ice cream soda fountain right next to the El Capitan Theater. Angeli Caffe, 8 oz Burger Bar or The Foundry might fit the bill, all on Melrose Avenue or we also enjoy Ciccone on Melrose, which is more chic dining, but they also have flatbreads, pastas and great meatballs which all ages appreciate. Yamashiro Hollywood is a historic LA building with a great view and right in the neighborhood you are searching. Also, close to where you are staying is The Brentwood, on Barrington, which offers classic American Fare.

"post-gym" high protein/low carb restaurant?

The Cabbage Patch on South Beverly Drive offers chicken and salmon bowls you can do without the brown rice. Fresh Corn Grill on west wood blvd serves chicken/Salmon/shrimp with choice of veggie sides as well as "bowls" where you can leave off the rice.

Affordable Westside Rehearsal Dinner for 100+

I would try Duke's in Malibu, El Cholo Santa Monica, Back on Broadway or Back to the Beach in Santa Monica or Gotham on the Promenade. Lares or Don Antonios might also be able to accomodate you.

Christmas Eve Birthday Dinner

Gjelina in Venice-great small plates and lots of vegetables and beautiful, Blue Plate Oysterette, Rustic Canyon and Musha ( in SM) , Fraiche or Beacon in Culver City.

Bangkok restaurant suggestions

Thank you! So you think the Sukothai is a little inconvenient compared to the Four Seasons? What about the Mandarin Oriental? Also, do you have any ideas for New Year's Eve?

Bangkok restaurant suggestions

We will be staying at the Sukhothai Hotel.

Bangkok restaurant suggestions

Hello-we will be in Bangkok for the first time at the end of December for four nights. We are a family of two adults and two teen-aged girls and are looking for a variety of experiences. Lunches will be more casual, and though we don't need fine dining or super-expensive, we would like to dine at places that are fun, interesting, beautiful or just have delicious food. We will have just spent 10 days in Phuket and Chiang Mai, so not all of the restaurants need to be Thai. Also, can anyone recommend something fun to do New Year's Eve?

Where can I eat a salad for lunch in Barcelona?

Thanks to Chowhound we have eating amazing meals for a week, Paco Meralgo, Cal Pep, Tapioles53, to name a few, as well as 4 nights in Costa Braca eating a lot of traditional Catalan food. Today we need a break from eating...just a light salad...not a whole tapas situation. Any ideas?

Pico Robertson..did my gf move us to no man's land?

Really cool bar in the La Cienega art gallery district is Mandrake at 2692 S La Cienega Blvd. Also, a great Italian meal of home made pastas and fresh ingredients can be had at Cafe Bella Roma SPQR on South Robertson...it's reasonably prices and you bring your own wine. Culver City is so close and filled with yong people. I recommend Father's Office, Ford's Filling Station, Bottle Rock, Gyenari, Fraiche and Beacon.

dried porcini mushrooms-best price?

I am going to make a bolognese sauce for a big crowd. I usually get my porcini at Gelsons or Whole Foods. Can anyone suggest a place to buy them a bit more cheaply? West LA/BHCulver City area...I don't think Trader Joe's carries them.

Thin crust pizza--BH + environs?

Going to watch the Golden Globes tonight and we are are craving delicious thin crust pizza--delivery or to pick-up near Beverly Hills. Would love a thinner crust than Mulberry Street--any suggestions?

Looking for a cocktail reception venue in West LA

Delicacies catering and Factors Deli own an event space called "The Elm Collection" on Elm just north of Pico near Beverly Drive. I recently went to an event there and it is the perfect size, you would have the place to yourself and it has a cozy bar, couches and various seating areas. They can cater the deserts and drinks and staff. Check it out on www.factorsdeli.com "rooms".

Foodie parents visiting town. Recs near WLA please

You asked for breakfast recs near Westwood--I would say John O'Groats on Pico.

Mastro's and La Dolce Vita

I like La Dolce Vita--yes it is "old school" and they do have some older patrons. But the chopped salad is amazing and so are the classic dishes like veal chop, osso bucco special on Thursday and the pastas are good. Dan Tana's has a hipper vibe, and I prefer the ambiance of BLT to Mastro's.

Tasting menu outing

Capo has a wonderful tasting menu.

What is good and interesting in and around Culver City?

M Cafe de Chaya on Culver Blvd. Beautiful space and delicious for vegan food. Non-vegans actually like it there--great seared ahi salad and french fries. Sushi Zo is very close and so is Cafe Bella Roma SPQR on Robertson--wonderful home made pastas and bring your own wine.

Indian food on the Westside

We are not Indian food experts, but would like to go out with a group of 6 for dinner. What is a good place that is not pure vegetarian and serves wine? It does not need to be fancy, but we do not want a take-out window type place. Anywhere from La Brea to Sepulveda would work. Thinking of Jaipur, India's Grill or Surya. What do you recommend?

ISO Karaoke with Good Food

I did a party at Orchid in Koreatown. Cool private rooms and food was ok. The other place that looked like what you are searching for is La Defence, though I haven't been myself.

mmm looking for a good liver and onions plate

My husband loves it at Orso on Third.

One night in LA

I think Sushi Zo is very special and nothing like Nobu in NY. Simple sushi, but simply the best things you have ever eaten. Since you have been to many of the good ones that aren't Italian or Steak, I second the Chinois on Main idea--then have a drink at Shutters or the Penthouse before or after and look at the Ocean. I think Ortolan is closed, btw. Capo in Santa Monica is also wonderful. Though Italian, it is very California Italian, focusing on quality purveyors for everything.

Fun and festive place for a teenager's birthday

Border Grill is fun and they have a private room upstairs. Whist at the Viceroy is really chic and so is the Penthouse atop the Huntley Hotel. I think Beechwood is also a good idea. My daughter loves Katsuya in Brentwood for special occasions and also fun is Bar Hayama on Sawtelle.
