Some of Chicago's best restaurant

You're right, it really isn't street food, it just isn't quite a sophisticated as Topolo. I think some could eat at Topolo and, other than the spice level, would not think it was Mexican. Frontera serves food that is more recognizeable as Mexican.

Some of Chicago's best restaurant

Topolo is an entirely different beast from Frontera which is more Mexican street food. Topolo is a fine dining experience. I would highly suggest one of their tasting menus.

Some of Chicago's best restaurant

I would definitely do the bar at Frontera. You can order off both menus there and enjoy the Margaritas, Mexican wines, Mezcal or Mexican or local beers. Xoco next door does great breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Have you looked at MK? They have been around awhile but they always deliver.

Best Burger in Nashville?

I'm a fan of Burger Up. They have some unusual choices and their sides are fantastic. Slip next door and have a gourmet mexican popsicle after your meal.

Place for drinks near Fairmont

We heading to SF with friends in a week and would like to meet someone we know from there for drinks near the Fairmont. I'm sure the Fairmont has a bar but is there someplace else that would be great? I know we have reservations at the Tonga Room that evening (not my choice).

You might consider. Xoco for breakfast if you want a taste of it. Topolo really isn't like any mexican you've likely ever had. You can get both menus at the bar too.

Have you considered dining at one of Rick Bayless' restaurants? Hot Chocolate has amazing desserts in Bucktown. Had friends that had an amazing meal at Geaham Elliot's. Aruns is also wonderful.

Help me match each pan to a brand

I've used All Clad for 20+ years and have loved it! I've been in a couple of high end kitchens and that's what they use. I've also been in a Top Chef Master's home kitchen and that's his choice. If you are near a William Sonoma outlet store you can buy All Clad seconds for a discount. I would pay extra for the D5 since it's a little heavier. I've had Ltd. and the outside finish has taken a beating. However it does not bother me that people know I actually use my cookware!

Dinner in Port Douglas

Turns out we have a choice of 4 places and our fellow travelers have chosen On the Inlet. I'll let you know what we think.

!) Great food
2) Not coat and tie

Suggestions?

Travelling to France in June

I was just trying to explain that some trips center around food for me and some have a different purpose like this one. The "foodie" in TTownfoodie has as much to do with my cooking obsession as it does with eating out. The comment on the board referred to being taken to task for not just reading previous posts and be satisfied. I spent hours pouring over Chowhound and other sites before the trip so I didn't just make a random post. I was asking as much about the smaller towns because it's much harder to find info on them. I personally found the food better in the outlying areas. I appreciate the suggestions, however, and would now like to conclude this discussion.

Trip Report a Tourist’s Perspective (Part 3: Le Comptoir)

I have also heard it's a great place for lunch.

Travelling to France in June

You have to understand that this was not really a foodie trip but an extra day in Paris added at the beginning and end of a tour. We had a group meal already planned so we really didn't have a lot of opportunity to explore food. I have to say that the Paris board is not as tolerant of occasional posters as other boards I've been on. Had I known this I don't think I would have posted in the first place. I was just trying to do as requested and post the meals I had on the trip.

Travelling to France in June

Our best meal in Paris was actually at L'as du Fallfel for lunch. Great ethnic food and didn't feel like we were in some make believe Paris bistro that caters to tourists. Best meal in France was iin Frontevraud at Platangenet. We also were tole L'unicorn was eccelant. I did have a crepe at L'Avant Comptier but we did not get a chance to eat a meal there....next time.

He's not going to eat offal. He'll eat fish. He loves sauces and breads. I'll eat (and love the adventure) almost anything.

Travelling to France in June

My husband and I will be traveling to France the first part of June. We'll have an extra day on the front end and back end of our tour in Paris. Additionally, we have many open dinners during the tour in Mon-St-Michele, Fontevraud-l'Abbaye, and Angers. I'm an adventurous foody but my husband needs to find one thing on the menu he recognizes ( steak frites, roast chicken, etc.). Can you offer suggestions on places we should try. While in Paris, we're staying in the Saint Germain-des-Pres area. Money is not a consideration, but we're comfortable in both informal bistros and nicer restaurants. Thanks for all the help.

Suggestions for Summit County, Colorado (Breckenridge, Keystone, Frisco, etc)?

Just ate at Modis this weekend and loved it. They have an appetizer sampler that was outstanding with buttermilk bluecheese, fried greenbeans, roasted garlic, oven roasted tomatoes, marinated olives and white bean dip. I highly recommend. We also ate at Red Mountain in Silverthorne. I had the tuna stack appetizer that was very fresh with a little heat provided by wasabi. I would also recommend this restaurant. A third dinner was less satisfying at Pug Ryans. It has a nice deck, but I thought the food was just okay and the "wine list" is standard Applebees if you know what I mean....
