Nobua at Teeter House bizarre experience just now

OK, so this is not just me, but a trend. Now I understand why Bianco was packed, Rose and Crown had its share of customers and not one person was dining at Teeter House. No one wants to encounter the Wicked Witch of the West.

That's too bad. I have dined there twice in the past -- once for lunch and once for dinner -- and the service was good. But there is no way I would go back in there with the likelihood of having this person serve me.

Nobua at Teeter House bizarre experience just now

Headed to opening day baseball at Chase Field later today so I decided to stop at Teeter House for lunch. But had such a poor encounter that I am sitting next door at Rose and Crown sipping a Firestone IPA instead.

I arrive prior to Teeter's opening and watch the long line across the street at Bianco slowly fill in. I am standing at front door of Teeter looking through glass window, waiting patiently. I have all day. First pitch is in five hours.

At 11:05, the server opens the deadbolt. She doesn't open the door for me. She doesn't greet me. So I open the door for myself and watch her walk into the kitchen. Why I rode this one out, I don't understand.

She returns from the kitchen and glares at me. (I asked, if I could get a table for one. I am the only customer in the building.)

She grabs a menu and sits me in the corner of the front room. She asks if I time to look at menu. Umm, yes.

She returns a minute later and I ask if they have a drink menu. She answers yes. She doesn't offer the drink menu, just standing in front of table icy. I ask her if I can see the menu. She grumpily goes to get a drink menu.

As she walks away I tell her, "I get the feeling I am putting you out."

She coldly says, "You're fine."

I tell I think I am going to do something else.

She says, OK.

I can't remember the last time I have had such uncaring service.

It bothered her to have a customer to wait on and I don't understand why.

Very strange.

Best Restaurants Close By Us? (Chandler, AZ)

Kiley's is terribly disappointing.

Dining at the Venetian

Have had two fabulous tasting menus at Pinot Brasserie. And they don't require the entire table to partake.

Your description of good food, good service and fun sounds like David Burke might be up your alley. I can't provide a first-hand report, but I'm kicking myself for not trying it on a recent visit.

Corkage/Wine Friendly in Vegas?

The Pinot Brasserie has no corkage fees (at least they didn't at last check) -- can't get more wine/corkage friendly than that!

Food options outside Chase Field

Opening Night is Monday and I am trying to recall the name of the restaurant at the old Oregano's on 1st Street and Washington. Anyone know? Anyone been there? Had a good write-up in the paper for pre-game chow and I can't remember the name.

eating in Laughlin, Nevada

Considering this thread has been resurrected after 18 months and the information is outdated, I feel compelled to say the Range has really fallen. ... Have had two straight bad experiences here.

Need source, great steaks, East Valley- tonight!

I like Von Hanson for some things. But for me, where price intersects quality on their steaks I feel on the wrong side of the road. Would just as well pay more for AJ's, or settle for a less expensive decent quality slab of meat from one of the other choices mentioned above.

Sterling Brunch- Worth It?

Love the Sterling Brunch. ... And I actually think it's a good value, even at $65. ... Considering the free-flowing champagne is Perrier Jouet and the fact that I like a lot of the expensive stuff, like lobster served four or five ways. ... I swear I drink more than a bottle, nursing the experience for an hour and a half or so. ... Caviar isn't my thing, but I usually indulge when I'm there, just from "life is too short" chapter.

Places With Great Food, Bad Service- Phoenix

Others will disagree because the service CAN be charming, but Cyclo, with the hit-or-miss Justina fits the mode. ... And Los Dos Molinos on Central Avenue can do everything wrong, but send out a nice plate that makes me want to forgive them for all of their shortcomings.

Italian in Las Vegas?

I find it interesting that a restaurant with the pedigree of Valentino's never shows up on top Italian lists. ... (Not saying they deserve it.)

Champagne Brunches in Las Vegas

Commander's is closing next week. ... Plans to re-open at another venue in the future. ... Rumor has it they're playing footsie with the Venetian.

Snacks in Las Vegas

I believe Le Notre has closed.

Heart Attack Grill

Burger Lover ... You are clearly talking about a different place. ... I was at the Heart Attack Grill on Saturday and the price was $11 for a single, fries and soda. ... The burger was anything but gourmet, though the scenery was nice. ;)

Chow Worthy Weekend Lunch Spot in Las Vegas?

Oh sorry ... Just noticed the "weekend" lunch and I promoted weekday fare.

Chow Worthy Weekend Lunch Spot in Las Vegas?

Would nominate Commander's Palace and the mini-tasting menu that is only $18.80 during lunch. ... The 25-cent martinis are a nice bonus as well.

Flagstaff eats

We experienced the Cottage Place for the first time last Saturday during our weekend on the hill. ... Very nice. ... And that tasting menu you mentioned is only $50 ... $77 with wine pairings.

"Special Place" in Chandler/So. Tempe?

Another thumbs up for Citrus Cafe

Si Senor - Chandler (PHX)

Had enjoyed several good meals at Si Senors and then became turned off by service issues on consecutive visits.

On the last trip, I took my son, who ordered off the kids menu. I suspect the server punched in the wrong order because the wrong entree showed up. No problem, really, we just politely sent the plate back. ... Some 5 to 10 minutes later, I predicted that the corrected entree would return to the table with the same fries, by now, cold and wilted. Indeed, that was the case. Unfortunately we couldn't get our server's attention to correct the plate (again). ... In too big of a hurry to address the issue, we blew it off. ...

Then the cashier asked, "How was everything?" When I told her the problems she just shrugged and said, "Sorry." And then said "$27.49," or whatever the price was. Why do they ask about the experience if they don't train staff to notify a manager or find a way to keep from losing a customer?

The next day I made contact with Si Senor via their web site with details of the experience and frustration and they never replied. I inferred a lack of customer service culture from all of the above and have not been back since.

~*Chandler Smoking laws??*~

Not a problem. ... I don't remember all of the details, but as a Chandler resident, my recollection is that the owner pulled off a successful "shake down" of the City, taking advantage of media opportunities, etc. ... Smart on his part.

~*Chandler Smoking laws??*~

I don't remember all of the details, but I believe the public food fight, pun intended, involved the negotiating of adjacent ways for the city (widening of street, etc.) and trade off for additional parking for the restaurant, and things of that nature.

~*Chandler Smoking laws??*~

This needs some clarification. ... The city HAS NOT tried to close Guedo's. ... Any conflict between the City and Guedo's dealt more with negotiating parking, etc. ... Guedo's very much fits the vision for the area.

The restaurant that the City tried unsuccessfully to run out of town was the Jack in the Box on Arizona Avenue, around the corner from Guedo's. ...

Phoenix for one

If he's staying at the Radisson, I believe he is close to House of Tricks on Mill Avenue in Tempe. ... Another treasure. ...

Phoenix/Scottsdale is very touristy. ... Lots of great choices. Too many restaurants, not enough time or budget!

Brew Pub in Las Vegas

Dave ... I would start by inquiring about the seasonal brew. The servers never bring it up and you wouldn't know to ask. ... One visit it was a Belgium ale that I compared favorably to Chimay. Love having that comped while playing blackjack. ... I like the Red and the Porter and even the light, is it a High Roller?
