I went to Elliot Bay Oyster House in Seattle and had an oyster fest with four different kinds of oysters, crabs and oyster stew. Most excellent.
My current drink of choice:
Good beer, but particularly Belgian and English; single malt scotch; Reposado tequila; Pineau de Charentre; ice wine, and Colombian coffee.
I really wish I could:
eat my way around the world and still maintain my "svelte" figure.
My favorite comfort food:
Congee and Chinese pickles. Jam Bong. Pupusas. Smelly tofu. Any kind of noodle soup from Asia. Soup dumplings. Cantonese roast pork. Meatloaf. Real southern fried chicken. Pulled pork shoulders, BBQ ribs. Taiwanese oyster omelette. Sopa de Marisco from La Ceiba in Honduras. Classic beef stew. Cheese grits. Scotch eggs. Scotch broth. Grilled English lamb. Greek braised lamb shanks over egg noodles.
My top 5 favorite restaurants:
Elliot Bay Oyster House, Fonda San Miguel in Austin TX, The Bothy in Glasgow. Michael's on Manchester in St. Louis. Any smelly tofu hawker stall in Taiwan. Papa Del's Pizza in Champaign. Fogo de Chao. Good noodle stalls and great sushi places. Loud voiced Man in Taipei. The Salt Lick near Austin.
