Best kosher Jerusalem restaurants -- time for an update

HaMotzi off of Agrippas was amazing and is meat. Cafe Kadosh, which is dairy and right by the Mamilla is also wonderful. Highly recommend both.

Jerusalem must-eats?

Heading to Israel next week. Will mostly be in Jerusalem. Staying in Rechavia, but will be all over. What are some places that I MUST get to? Best coffee shops? Best late night quick dinners?

Kosher spaghetti carbonara?

I've made it with bacon salt with good results.

Now that we have kosher beef bacon available, I do want to try doing a meat version and then replacing the parmesan with a nut/nutritional yeast blend. So curious how it would come out.

What is the best tasting parve cheese?

Another option is Teese Cheese. http://www.chicagoveganfoods.com/tees... It melts really well.

New Kosher in Minnesota?

It's the right spot for a kosher restaurant. The community needs one, but tends to not be able to support one.

kosher kimchi, kosher kelp noodles

I've seen organic vegan kimchi, maybe it's worth it to approach them to get kosher certified?

I usually just make my own kimchi.

Cravings

I have now gone a few times. They are still working out their customer service and kinks like that. Sandwiches are not good. Everyone is raving about the pizza. Have yet to try it. Sushi never looks fresh.

The yogurt is ok, not enough flavors or toppings. Their flavor twists are odd choices - like mint choco chip and caramel combined.

Chocolate tea, which is the best?

Love the Harney & Son's. Was just introduced to it. Definitely a winner.

Cravings

Went by there yesterday and spoke to the owners. Also got to look through their menu. They are opening next Tuesday. There will be a cholov yisrael self-serve yogurt place (also opening on Tuesday) attached to it.

The menu included paninis, sandwiches, pizza, salads, and sushi. All at surprisingly reasonable prices for the neighborhood.

The space looks very bright and clean.

Singapore Vegetarian in Center City, Philadelphia

Kosher supervision politics aside, it is an excellent restaurant. I miss their location in Cherry Hill. Their soups are amazing. They get the spice just right. Their sizzling beef platter is also a great dish. Definitely recommend.

Good place near the Brooklyn Childrens Museum?

Anything good to recommend? Something that can handle a larger group with a bunch of little kids?

Thanks!

Does anyone have a one-pot recipe for Shabbos lunch that will replace the boring Cholent?

I just cooked up a braised turkey leg dish for shabbat. It was a big hit with everyone. Could be done in a slow cooker or on the stove on low overnight. http://hindycooks.blogspot.com/2011/0...

Best Kosher Kid Friendly Restraunt

Would also recommend NoiDue. We went at a time when the kids were pretty hungry and overtired and the staff was very accomodating. They made sure to get the kids their food right away. They had a fantastic menu. The staff was wonderful.

Review of Ariels of Englewood

Was recently there on a Saturday night and went home kind of disappointed and annoyed that we trekked out there. The menu looked so promising. Had been excited to go there. Excited to take some out of town family there. The service was slow, unattentive, and not very knowedgeable about the menu items. It wasn't busy when we first got there and didn't get somewhat busy until we were leaving.

The kids meal was probably the best of the dishes - the mac and cheese.

For the appetizers, we got the tuna tostada and a chili rellenos. We grew up in a non kosher world and know what these dishes should taste like. We specifically asked for the tuna to be very rare. The tuna came overcooked with no flavor. The chili rellenos also had no real flavor.

My husband got the fish tachos, which came with a tamale. The tamale was inedible and definitely not the flavor of tamale he ordered. There was just a bland corn mush taste to it. The fish in the fish tacos did not taste fresh. The pasta dish I ordered was nothing special. No flavor. I had to ask and then wait 20 minutes for parmesean and ground pepper. The best dish, but still just ok, was the sesame crusted salmon. Again, the fish came overdone. The waiter never really checked on us. Never asked for refills on water.

I really hope this place will improve. We do need a nice restaurant that is more innovative like this. It has a great menu that could really go somewhere.

Imo products

I've emailed them in the past and was told that they don't have a US based importer/distributor of their products. I think koshergourmet.com may sell a few of their products, though.

Kosher Near MOMA

Prime Grill is kid-friendly? Kosher Deluxe is definitely out the question. We like clean, and good quality food. Wolf and Lamb might work. I always forget that they are still around.

Etc Steakhouse or Mosaica?

We actually ended up at Etc. and had a delightful meal. We decided that we had been to Mosaica enough and knew the menu, and thought to try something new. We had great service. The restaurant was somewhat busy. We had the gnocchi with beef cheek appetizer as well. Nothing special. The actual gnocchi didn't absorb any flavor. Husband had the rib eye, which came with grilled asparagus and roasted potatoes. It was all really tasty. I had the short ribs, which came with broccoli rabe and mashed red potatoes. The portions were huge. Everything was very well made. I would good back there again to try something news. We went on a Monday night, if that helps as far as service goes.

I finally tried it. I was suprised that the container is two servings according to the nutritional panel. I tried the soy ginger. A bit sweet and a bit bland. Would like to see more flavor.
