Where can I find a small non-stick roasting pan with rack?
Hi Hounds,
No response? Bumping this up in the hopes that more folks will see it, thanks!
Where can I find a small non-stick roasting pan with rack?
Hi,
I've been looking for awhile now for a small non-stick roasting pan. All the roasting pans I see are turkey-sized. I am looking for something smaller, smaller than 9 by 13 inches for sure, including a rack. Our household consists of 2 adults, so we occasionally roast a chicken or a small roast.
I have a Farberware Millennium one (I don't think this brand even exists anymore!) , but it is over 20 years old and is in bad shape, so I would like to replace it.
Thanks for any pointers!
Instant Oatmeal
The Kroger maple and brown sugar is my favorite, it's better than Quaker instant. I nuke 2 packets in a bowl with milk and when it is done, mix in some chopped nuts and dried cranberries or raisins, yum!
4 Nights - e, L'Atelier, Aburiya Raku ... ?
Hi,
Our 2 favorite dim sum places in Vegas are Ping Pang Pong and Orchids Garden. We've tried a few others, but these two are the best in our opinion. Enjoy!
Middle-Brow, Non-Ethnic in Arcadia
I third the req. for Matt Denny's, it was also the first place I thought of when reading the post. We eat there regularly and think the food is really good!
What secret ingredient would you like to see on Iron Chef America?
It's a bit of a joke, but we've always said they should do Battle Water!
Family loved Rosemary's, where can I take them now besides Todd's
We also loved Rosemary's and like Todd's. We recently went to Table 34, due to a recommendation from Todd's (as they were closed for vacation) and enjoyed it very much.

Henderson recs?
Hi,
Looking for some chow-worthy recs in Henderson. Already know about Todd's Unique, but they are closed for the month of August due to vacation. Any kind of food except Indian, we don't drink alcohol, so that is not a concern, and any price range. Thanks, 'hounds!
Recs near Grove of Anaheim?
Hi everyone,
We're going to a show at the Grove of Anaheim and are looking for local recs for pre-show dinner. Not too familiar with the area, but looking for something tasty which is relatively close to the theater. Price not a concern, no Indian food, no alcohol, not too spicy - other than that, anything goes! Save us from fast food!
Macaroni Salad Recipe?
Hi Hounds,
I'm looking for a recipe for the macaroni salad you get with a Hawaiian plate lunch or a Japanese combination dinner. The taste is different to me, not so sweet or mayonnaisey, and I find it very good. Does anyone have such a recipe? Thanks!
Pre-show dinner near Largo at the Coronet?
Thanks for the suggestions. As far as food goes, anything except Indian, and also, we don't drink, so alcohol is not a concern. No price range really, just looking for good food and want to stay close to the theater, so the closer the better. Thanks!
Pre-show dinner near Largo at the Coronet?
Hi everyone,
We'll be going to see Tim Minchin in June at the Largo at the Coronet. Never been there, don't know the area, and looking for a chow-worthy place for dinner beforehand. I understand the deal is to get there early, line up and get seat assignments, and then you have approx. 2 hours before showtime, so we'd like to grab dinner then, preferably within walking distance, so we don't have to re-park.
I did a search and only one post came up from 3 years ago, so I'd appreciate some more recent information. Thanks, 'hounds!
Do you have a recipe that works so well that you have no interest in trying another?
The choc. chip cookie recipe I use, since I found it, there is no other - it is the best I have ever made! So quick too, you can have cookies in under 30 minutes...
My Mexican lasagna recipe also counts!
Collectable (high value/high price) Cookbooks?
I've got the "light" version as well. I also really enjoyed Heston's Fantastical Feasts, another beautiful book!
Collectable (high value/high price) Cookbooks?
I have Heston Blumenthal's Fat Duck Cookbook, which is a gorgeous book!
Breakfast for the working
I usually prepare something at home and eat it in the car on the way to work. I don't have enough time in the morning to eat at home, and I cannot eat at my desk at work. I gotta have protein in the morning, so some things I like are Greek yogurt, sandwiches of all types (peanut butter and jelly, meat and cheese, egg salad, etc), a slice or two of cold leftover pizza, cut up cheese, etc. Sometimes on the weekend I will make a quiche or breakfast casserole, and portion it into individual portions, keep a day or two's worth in the fridge and freeze the rest. Then, in the morning, grab a container, microwave it and out the door!
What are the best / signature dishes and Lotus of Siam
Hi,
Everyone likes different things, but our favorites at LOS are nam kao tod for an appetizer, thai beef salad for a main (theirs is the best!), and sticky rice with mango and coconut ice cream for dessert. Enjoy!
What are your favorite dives and cheap eats WORTH THE DRIVE?
DH loves the Plantation Mint Julep soda. We get a case at a time. You can buy just one bottle, so can make up a case of whatever you like. It's a fun place. We also like Bundaberg Ginger Beer (from Australia) and they have that, as well as a new peach flavor I hadn't heard of before, which was very good.
What are your favorite dives and cheap eats WORTH THE DRIVE?
Billy's is at 216 N. Orange in Glendale. Bake & Broil is at 3697 Atlantic Ave. in Long Beach. Enjoy!
What are your favorite dives and cheap eats WORTH THE DRIVE?
We love Billy's and have been going for years. Brent's is very good (love that black pastrami!) but is quite far away from us, so we hardly go there. It's also a lot more crowded. Have to admit, never been to Langer's but hoping to remedy that soon! Again, worth the drive for us. Of the delis we have been to, Billy's has the best chopped chicken liver...
What are your favorite dives and cheap eats WORTH THE DRIVE?
We all have our opinions. In my opinion, it is worth the drive and we head there from the Pasadena area at least once a month.
What are your favorite dives and cheap eats WORTH THE DRIVE?
Hi,
A few of our favorites, worth the drive:
Mexican: Tijuana Tacos, in Pomona
Pizza: Zelo, in Arcadia
Deli: Billy's
Thai: Renu Nakorn
General and best pie ever: Bake & Broil
Where to find chicken hearts in the SGV?
Hi,
Where can I find chicken hearts in the SGV? I like them, but in my local supermarket, I see packages of hearts and gizzards that are marked as containing mostly gizzards. I don't like gizzards! Where can I find just hearts? Thanks, hounds!
Jury Duty, Downtown LA, lunch recs?
Hi everyone,
I did a search, but the most recent threads I found on jury duty lunch choices in downtown LA are all from 2007 and 2008. I think this info may be a little outdated. So, let's get the most recent recs from the hounds - where would you go for lunch if you had jury duty in downtown LA? Thanks!
Bachi Burger
Hi,
I went to Bachi Burger the last time I was in Vegas, and I guess I'll have to be the dissenting opinion here, but we weren't impressed and will not be going back. The service was horrendous, I mean we were just about to walk out when they hadn't taken our order yet after approx. 40 minutes. The one thing I will say is that the fries were excellent. However, everything else was meh at best.
For what it's worth, we're not fans of the Burger Bar either - just don't get all the accolades. For what it was, it was very expensive and just OK in taste, nothing amazing. Now, for a good burger, we like Create Burger, that's our latest go-to place.
Just wanted to throw another opinion out there!
Alex (The Wynn) is closing on 1/15/11
Alex has been on my list for years - I never made it there and I'll never get the chance to now! I'm sorely disappointed!
SGV taco recs?
Hi everyone,
Awhile back, I had posted a request for a place to eat close to the LA County fairgrounds in Pomona. A couple of 'hounds recommended Tijuana Tacos, on Holt in Pomona. We went there and loved it, and have been back several times since then!
So, since we're relative taco newbies, we'd love to find other places that serve food similar to Tijuana Tacos, SGV preferred. Thanks!
Mini Trip Report
Hi Hounds,
Thanks for all your advice over the years. Just returned from Vegas, stayed 4 nights at the South Point. Tried a couple of new places I read about here (as well as some old favorites) and wanted to report back. When we go to Vegas, the food is one of the biggest things for us, and we plan where we want to go beforehand.
We had lunch at Bachi Burger. Really wanted to like this place, but it was just meh. The service was horrendous, we waited a very long time before our server took our order and after that, over half an hour for our food/drinks and the place was not busy. The burgers, while they sound yummy on the menu, didn't live up to their descriptions, they were bland and needed more seasoning, more oomph, something! The one things I will say was that the parmesan truffle fries were delicious! However, we won't be going back. On our last trip to Vegas, we tried Create Burger on Tenaya/Lake Mead, which was infinitely better and we will definitely be going back there.
We also tried Waffles Cafe, which has a breakfast special, egg, bacon or sausage, waffle and unlimited coffee for $5.99. It was terrific! I thought this place would be a restaurant, but it was a small place where you order at the counter, then sit down and they bring your food to you. Very friendly people there and the food was delicious! They have dessert waffles, you choose the toppings, also waffle sandwiches, waffle pizza, all sorts of things. Everything is made fresh and by hand. I would definitely go back there.
We went to Rosemary's twice and Lotus of Siam twice, once for lunch and once for dinner at each place. Terrific, as always. The Thai beef salad it LOS is the best I have ever had, without a doubt. For dinner, we tried a couple of new dishes, the beef with green peppercorn sauce and drunken noodles with seafood, both were delicious. At Rosemary's, the shrimp and white cheddar grits were wonderful, as was the white peach cheesecake with citrus coulis. The service at both places was fantastic and they continue to be favorites of ours, we go to both every time we are in Vegas.
Had lunch at Sababa, very good falafel, kebabs, shawarma, and hummous. The owner was very nice to us. I would go back there.
We also had dinner at Sage at the Aria and Botero at the Encore. Both were nice, but with so many choices in Vegas, not sure I would go back to either one again. Another trip, over so quickly!
