good vegan food but not all vegan restaurant recommendations

A family member became vegan (no meat no cheese) about a year ago. We have a dinner party coming up before the theatre and we are looking for recommendations on somewhere that has a decent variety vegan fare. With a majority of the party not vegan we are looking for the best of both worlds. Ideally around the junction (bloor and landsdown or dundas and bloor) but we are fleixble provided it is in Toronto / north york.

Any ideas friends? Would also need to be large enough to host a table of 8.

Thanks in advance everyone..

Where is the best Mexican in Toronto?

Not sure if anyone mentioned "Margaritas" on baldwin st. I've been there a few times and was happy with my meal. Nice patio / street. Not an expert on Mexican food, just thought I'd mention it.

Joey Don Mills?

My co-workers and I frequented joey when they first opened up. When they opened they actually brought employees (attractive ones I must say) from Manitoba and Alberta. Now it's all run by local Toronto girls.

To me it's just another moxies with a different name. They've opened up their roof top patio and it is very well appointed, more of an outside lounge enviroment rather then just tables and beer. Lots of sun

I ordered their most expensive steak, def better value at The Keg but wasn't horrible. Very small portion and they serve it with some sort of deep fried mash patotoe that is terrible in my eyes (and I love anything fried).

Personally the only thing I bother ordered when I go there is their flatbread with sausage on it, its very well prepared and a tasty snack but something like $10.

Joey has daily drink specials, which makes it an affordable place to drink. Jack Astors across the street had to respond with daily specials as well.

If you like moxies, this place will be right up your alley.

Niagara Falls Canada on a budget

Not a gourmet option but if you go to the old casino in the food court area there is a "falls and the firkin" with a semi decent view of the falls. The pricing there is the same as my local Firkin in Toronto.

Not the greatest, but not the worst.

Also The Keg is only slightly more expensive then in Toronto, I'd say its one of the best bets if your looking for a nicer dinner.

I hate buffets personally, but if you get a free casino card (Takes a swipe of your drivers license thats it), it comes to something like $18-$20 for the buffet and includes softdrinks. Tipping isn't really neccassary.

Hope this helps, Niagara Falls is such a tourist trap.
