It's East 76th Street (Surrey Hotel).

Restaurant Recommendation on Upper East Side

Hounds,

We'll be in NYC in Feb, staying in the UES. We arrive a little on the later side Friday and are looking for somewhere not too far from our hotel for that evening -- anything up there? Geography of the City is not my strong suit.

For some context, I've been to NYC a number of times and enjoyed meals at all of the Momofuku restaurants, EMP, Prune, WD-50, Balthazar, The Dutch, Babbo, Lupa, Locanda Verde, Torrisi's.....

Suggestions for the UES?

Thanks.

Carpano -- now what?

The windows at Carpano are all papered up -- but there looks to be lights and life and mess inside. A reno maybe? Or are they closed for good?

New To Ontario and I need some help finding some items

Welcome to Ontario, AVONGSA!

I purchased my steam basket (and pot) for sticky rice at Tap Phuong on Spadina. You'll find other housewares there, as well.

For Thai egglant, there are 2 large Asian grocers on Spadina, both north of Dundas a block or two, one either side of the street (sorry, I don't know the names). I always find the small eggplant at the one on the east side of the street.

Yet another disappointing truffle experience ...

Was sitting at the bar at Splendido last night -- another customer beside me was having the truffle tasting menu (also at the bar) -- all courses with black truffles (including dessert). The fragrance was incredible!! One memorable (looking) course: a single-serving smoking hot empty cast iron pan was brought out on a small board. The diner put the dish together -- first truffle butter (the fragrance!), then an egg, then a thin slice of some cured pork, and then minced truffles and something else poured on top. Looked fantastic. The diner reported each course to be excellent.

Good fancy Japanese restaurant in Toronto?

Kaji is excellent, Kjaii89 -- ask to sit at the sushi bar. Also, cracks me up that the last time you posted was October 2010 when you were also looking for a place for your girlfriend's birthday. Have a great time!
